Sadly this looked great but on my first attempt to use the coffee flooded out of the bottom and none from where it should have..... I spoke to Melitta who were very helpful and called me back to say it was probably a valve so i should return it for a new one BUT Amazon would not replace it because it was a used item from their warehouse ... even though the advert said it was just a damaged box! Very poor from Amazon who said it was just my risk that it did not work, covered my kitchen and cupboards with coffee and would not replace it !
J. Vickerman. Water waste when starting and stopping
DavidI assumed all of the bad reviews for the Melitta Solo were from unlucky chumps and I decided to take a chance and buy..
Unfortunately, upon first turning on the machine the power and clean lights flashed and no action could change the state. Manual & Melitta website were not helpful.
Returned.
A very disappointed chump.

Old BillLike others, started off well then gradually went down hill. Stopped grinding properly, went off for repair (WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD) - good on them they loaned me another machine, glad they did... The machine came back from being "repaired" and it looked scruffy, coffee all over, didn't look good. They collected it again after an internal investigation as to what had happened. Machine came back again, now it leaks out of the bottom side - which it has never done! Coffee doesn't taste like it used to, so no idea what has been done now!
Best part, they claim that as they repaired previously OUT of warranty, as a goodwill gesture, they will not repair this for free, as the fault has developed when in my possession. Not sure how they can state this. They are also refusing to acknowledge that the repair was reported within my warranty period. I have proof in emails, so I am confident on my side, they seem to be assuming/guessing.
Seemed amazing at first, turned very bitter in the end. Will not use this company ever again.

brianIt is a very attractive machine with a narrow footprint, it also feels very well made and makes excellent coffee. The downsides are:- a very small water tank, a very small bean hopper, which clogs and the beans need a poke to get them moving again occasionall,. On the one I bought the light would come on to indicate that the drip tray/used coffee receptacle were full, which they weren't (about every second cup),and the descaling light would illuminate even immediately after the descaling process had been carried out. I returned mine and got my Delonghi ESAM 4200 repaired.
JBWhen we first got this machine we loved it so much we got my parents one as well. But just outside two years both have gone gone. To be fair our one got blocked up inside with oil and grinds, easyish to remove back and side panel to clean but one you take the mill apart you can not get it to grind properly once back togeather (it was blocked up inside the mill - cleaning programs don't do anything with that just the wet parts) My parents one started leaking on the none removalable panel side. Hopefully I'll be able to recycle the mill out of the leaking one to get one working machine . But i was hoping for 4 to 5 years out of a £350 machine.
BenItem came as though it had been returned already and then sent back out. Filters promised in the amazon description had been removed and no cleaning tablets.
The coffee produced is good but missing parts leave a bitter taste to the experience!
