Sadly this looked great but on my first attempt to use the coffee flooded out of the bottom and none from where it should have..... I spoke to Melitta who were very helpful and called me back to say it was probably a valve so i should return it for a new one BUT Amazon would not replace it because it was a used item from their warehouse ... even though the advert said it was just a damaged box! Very poor from Amazon who said it was just my risk that it did not work, covered my kitchen and cupboards with coffee and would not replace it !
J. VickermanVery neat design and easy to operate. Arrives fully assembled with no fiddly parts to fit. Once the coffee and water reservoirs are filled and the machine is powered up it carries out a purge cycle (I found that it needed two operations before it was ready). Just select the strength and cup size and press the cup button and off it goes; producing an excellent brew with a good crema. I found that the preset temperature was fine but my preference is for a stronger brew so selected the maximum strength. The machine is reasonably quiet in use and occupies little space on the worktop compared to some other makes.Reliability is yet to be proved as it is early days but it appears to be well made.
pjm. Water waste when starting and stopping
Davideasy to cleangood tasting coffeegood size water containerLooks good. Need to empty waste water catch a little too often but not so bad - a bit of a picky complaint. It is fine if sink is nearby and not far from office.
StephenI love that you get fresh coffee. It'sgood to be able to change the strength of the coffee. I like how easy it is to adjust for the cup size. Opening it up to clean is very easy to do although a bit messy. Once you have it set up it's just 2 buttons to press to get your coffee. Easy to refill the coffee and water.. The water tray at the bottom seems to get filled very quickly and its messy to empty. It is quite noisy.
PaulI assumed all of the bad reviews for the Melitta Solo were from unlucky chumps and I decided to take a chance and buy..
Unfortunately, upon first turning on the machine the power and clean lights flashed and no action could change the state. Manual & Melitta website were not helpful.
Returned.
A very disappointed chump.

Old BillEverything Is perfect!!!.
DeividasWe love our coffee machine. Everyone that visits loves our coffee. I invested in one of these bean-cup machines because making a cup of coffee from freshly ground beans really makes a difference - especially when you drink espresso. We use this every single day. I clean it when it reminds me and wipe it down when required. We purchase good beans and treat the machine well and so far it treats us as well. Unlike some other reviews I also want to confirm that a full cleaning cycle ensure you clean and descale the water tank and pipes AND the dry grinder and mill. I would highly recommend to maintain both the machine and quality of the coffee that you perform both when the indicator tells you.
kaosfusiongreat machine, easy to use and makes good coffee.. cleaning water tray and grinds is a bit messy as the tray is quite large and full of water when it needs to be cleaned.
CarolineLike others, started off well then gradually went down hill. Stopped grinding properly, went off for repair (WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD) - good on them they loaned me another machine, glad they did... The machine came back from being "repaired" and it looked scruffy, coffee all over, didn't look good. They collected it again after an internal investigation as to what had happened. Machine came back again, now it leaks out of the bottom side - which it has never done! Coffee doesn't taste like it used to, so no idea what has been done now!
Best part, they claim that as they repaired previously OUT of warranty, as a goodwill gesture, they will not repair this for free, as the fault has developed when in my possession. Not sure how they can state this. They are also refusing to acknowledge that the repair was reported within my warranty period. I have proof in emails, so I am confident on my side, they seem to be assuming/guessing.
Seemed amazing at first, turned very bitter in the end. Will not use this company ever again.

brianBeautiful coffee flavour. None
MarieIt is a very attractive machine with a narrow footprint, it also feels very well made and makes excellent coffee. The downsides are:- a very small water tank, a very small bean hopper, which clogs and the beans need a poke to get them moving again occasionall,. On the one I bought the light would come on to indicate that the drip tray/used coffee receptacle were full, which they weren't (about every second cup),and the descaling light would illuminate even immediately after the descaling process had been carried out. I returned mine and got my Delonghi ESAM 4200 repaired.
JBWhen we first got this machine we loved it so much we got my parents one as well. But just outside two years both have gone gone. To be fair our one got blocked up inside with oil and grinds, easyish to remove back and side panel to clean but one you take the mill apart you can not get it to grind properly once back togeather (it was blocked up inside the mill - cleaning programs don't do anything with that just the wet parts) My parents one started leaking on the none removalable panel side. Hopefully I'll be able to recycle the mill out of the leaking one to get one working machine . But i was hoping for 4 to 5 years out of a £350 machine.
BenAmazing.
1st bean to cup machine I have owned. I have thoroughly enjoyed trying different beans and now have some favourite blends.
Cleaning and maintenance is a bit of a faff but soon get used to it, keep the instructions safe and handy.
Much better than the Tassimo I previously used.
Happy customer, no problems well priced machine !!!!

David AllenItem came as though it had been returned already and then sent back out. Filters promised in the amazon description had been removed and no cleaning tablets.
The coffee produced is good but missing parts leave a bitter taste to the experience!
