Doesn't last long!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

It was working well initially, but after just a few months, the milk steamer stopped working completely! You have to wait quite awhile for the steamer to be ready after the espresso has been used. Disappointing!

Only used it a couple of times in the last few months. Takes too long to make a cup of coffee, too long to clean.

PLEASE,PLEASE. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. making coffee to-day and it went BANG boiling hot water seeped over filter and smoke came out of top of machine,I called my husband who quickly pulled out the plug,in that short period of time the machine was so hot that you could not touch it and the red colour started changing. half an hour later you could say it was warm.God knows what would have happened if I had left the kitchen. I have had this machine for 2yrs and it has been nothing but a pain.It has had little use maybe once a day,and has been descaled regularly, and cleaned. All I can say that I am here to tell the tale and my kitchen was not burned down.YOU have been warned,DO NOT BUY>

Poor service

The item was incomplete - there was no water tank and, despite polite phone conversations, the suppliers failed to rectify this leaving the product unusable!!!

awful, do not buy
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I bought this on the basis of good reviews on which and amazon, but unfortunately it has been extremely disappointing. These are the main issues:
1. The supposed double shot coffee holder is tiny. I measured it against my previous machine and it is at least 25% smaller.
2. The milk frother squirts water out even when the light is on indicating that it shoudl be producing steam. This means that every cup of coffee becomes watery and dilute.
3. I prefer to use a milk frother without the additional 'cappuccino system' but when you do so on this machine (which you are supposed to be able to do), the whole frother flies off and covers you in milk and hot water
4. De'longhi customer service is appalling.

Fine for a while but...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Although it looks pretty and sits smartly in the kitchen the functionality leaves a lot to be desired. I have been through two of these machines now, and the same thing happens each time: The frother is temperamental and hot water spits out from beneath the coffee pod and I rarely get anything like an espresso out of it. This is not through overloading it with ground coffee, or because the coffee is of the wrong consistency, or through any other user error. I have had the current model just under 3 years, and I would say that it started to have problems after a year. I won't be replacing it with another De'Longhi Icona that is for sure!

doesn't worth the money

Very expensive for the the job it does, Good design, but that is just it. Very noisy, you have to stop it, to avoid overfilling the cup, the coffee is just fine, not perfect, easy to clean.

Makes Ok coffee but died
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Looks good and makes a reasonable cup of coffee from espresso grounds. No real issues with it until it completely died due to internal thermal fuse failure after 19 months of use (averaging a cup a day).

disappointed
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Bought this coffee machine over a year ago and we are so disappointed with it. It was always a bit noisier than our old swiss machine (JURA) which lasted 15 years! But it seems to be getting noisier. We have tried placing it on a rubber surface , holdiing it down but we can't find a solution. The nozzle for making cappuccinos leaks and you are left with a large puddle on your work top. Definitely would not recommend. So sorry we didn't return it immediately!

Looks Good, taste Good!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I got this coffee machine for my hubby's birthday last month. This is our first, so maybe we are not so savvy with coffee machines but after one month, I can now write on it. After researching on various types of coffee machine, I chose the De'Longhi Icona. It makes coffee from ground and pods. Also it was recommended by Which? I think it is value for money especially for beginners. The manual gives good instructions and after a little fiddling, you just know what to do. I guess like all things (cars, computers, wife...:-P), you need to get to know the product and then you just know how to handle it. Easy to clean, maintain and looks fab on the kitchen counter.

Bought a few other accessories like the Grindenstein Knock Out Box Red (optional but nice to have...) and Andrew James High Quality Grade 202 Stainless Steel Jug 600ml for milk frothing too. All from Amazon.

Update September 2014

Coffee machine died nearly a year after I got it. Machine started spewing hot water all over. Amazon was fab to replace it with another one. After a year and a half with the second machine. It started leaking through the milk frother. I now put a jug under to catch the drips. I have been taking care of the machine. De scaling and cleaning all components often but it's not built to last. So now I am looking for another one....
