I ordered this kettle to replace a M&S one that had finally given up. I thought paying a bit more for a kettle would buy me one of similar quality to the dearly departed M&S model. I was very disappointed. I didn't feel that the metal was particularly well finished and the semi-clear plastic panel that is intended to let you see how much water is in the kettle is so opaque that you can't see anything. The on/off switch is at the base of the handle and difficult to find and the led indicator is tiny and too close to the base to be able to see without a level of contortionism. It works fine, in the sense that it boils water, but so does a cheap kettle from Tesco.

Sue WheatleyHad to return as the water if not freshly boiled was tainted by a metallic taste that did not go away after a month.
NaturalgirlieI was attracted by the look of this kettle but the style has failed to deliver on a practical level. It is filled by removing the top. My old kettle had a push area which raised the top while it is more of a struggle to pull this one off. I can manage to pull it when the kettle is cold but trickier if you want to top up the kettle soon after it has boiled. The water level indicator at the side is hard to distinguish and must be ever so difficult for someone with low vision. The inclusion of an interior light could have made this easier. The on/off switch appears fragile and I am not confidant this will last long. Not a big fan of the weight balance when pouring either. The kettle is also relatively noisy. I wish I had kept my old unattractive leaking kettle.
RSUnhappy that such a expensive kettle is leaking already and there is no way it seems to contact the seller to arrange for a replacement. Nice looking kettle but beware. It'll leak
Victoria Fox-Burnellnot a happy experience with this kettle. Within minutes of switching on there was a smell of burning material. We expected this was normal and would go,away but it persisted. Something was making the water smell and taste like TCP. Also not a good design for small amounts, 1cup, pouring and filling difficult. Also very noisy! Returned via Amazon and got an immediate refund, HurraH!

Angela McGillNice looking kettle which we bought to replace a kettle with a leaking bottom. It's a fast boil kettle which I found no louder than any other I've owned. The lid comes off just fine for filling with a tug.However... boil the kettle, make tea, all great. Make another cup of tea by just topping up the old boiled water and the tea tastes of TCP. From research there's a coating they put on the inside of some kettles to prevent limescale from sticking and that combined with Chlorine in the water makes the weird taste. It looks like twice boiled water just adds to the problem. Your mileage may vary, we do have particularly hard water where I live and who knows if the Chlorine levels are uniform across counties. I'm sure this issue isn't isolated to this particular kettle though.
Will GThe lid opening when rusty. But The seller kindly refunded my money.
Denise WebsterGood points - looks quite smart. Bad points - you can't fill using the spout, you must take the lid off, which is a pain; the water gauge is hard to read, my husband would need to put his trading glasses on, which is a pain, I can read it OK, but it is less than crystal clear; a bit noisier than my last kettle. Much too expensive given these bad points.Would I recommend - no.
BarbaraWhilst this kettle looks lovely and I was pleased with it when I unpacked it, there were a few problems which made me return it. Firstly, as another customer pointed out, I noticed steam coming out of the on/off switch when I first tried it. Secondly, it is really noisy; more so than my old kettle, which is really saying something. Finally, and the reason it was actually returned, it made the water taste awful. I tried boiling up bicarbonate of soda and endless refills/ boils but just couldn't get rid of the taste. It also made my mouth feels strange. Now I have to search for a kettle that doesn't do this, because apparently this is a major problem with most of the brands now :(
J. LaphamLooks great but it's noisy and difficult to fill via the spout which makes it less convenient than a jig kettle should be. A small amount more design thought would have resolved this issue.
Amazon CustomerNice design, however had to return it due toa fault. Steam coming out of the power switch
AshI have always been a fan of De Longhi poducts which is why I bought this stylish kettle..... but it was a big mistake! When it's on it is so noisy that you are unable to hear the TV in THE NEXT ROOM. The lid is such a tight fit that my wife has to wrap the handle in a tea-towel and wrestle with it until it eventually comes off - it is then almost as tricky to replace it. In addition the filter fits so poorly in the spout that it often simply drops out when you are pouring. I wish I had bought something less stylish and more functional and much, much quieter.
driftingbyThis was a good kettle until it broke after 18 months of normal use. Is that how long things last now?
chrisWe have had two of these now as they look great but beware: both have packed up just after the 1 year guarantee has run out. They just stop working!
RobertoI was so looking forward to using this product after reading some of the reviews. A stylish kettle which looks great. Unfortunately this was the worse buy for me. The lid is extremely stiff and you are fighting to lift it off everytime you want to fill it up. Also the filter pad in the nozzle is not a good fit and keeps disconnecting itself. The filter meshing has also torn only after a few months.
pickle123Had this kettle a little while now and whilst no problem with the functionality of it, I've just noticed one of the logo badges has been put on upside down!
TrickaThis kettle is very noisy but that's not unexpected for a 3kw kettle which is designed to boil very quickly. Worse than that however is the fact that it is hard to fill with a tiny spout and a very tight lid.But worst of all has been the fact that, after only 13 months and when it was just outside the guarantee period, it started to leak and has become unusable. I've gone back to my old cheap plastic kettle - there was never anything wrong with that - it was just that I wanted a kettle which boiled more quickly. Just about to take my DeLonghi kettle to my local recycling tip!
Amazon CustomerThis kettle looks nice and stylish. it boils water ok, quite noisy though. Good water spout, with no dribbling. Thing that annoys me is having to prise the lid off every time i want to fill up, its really difficult. Lid feels so tight and awkward to budge,Also they tell you not to fill up via the spout. Aargh. i feel like i am going to break something by twisting and pulling so much. The little filter that sits at the spout also sometimes comes loose. I would not buy this again just for the good looks. I would go for a lever lid kettle next time or one with an easier to remove lid. It is stylish though...
