Good product, easy to use, boils quickly

I love this kettle, this is the second time I’ve had one as loved it so much, first one lasted over 6yrs so great for the price!

I purchased this kettle 5 years ago & it's still going strong!!! Best value for money ever! Never had a kettle last this long before & it is used on a daily basis. Nice sleek modern design.

when i first used this there was an over powering smell of rotton eggs but once boiled and rinsed a few times this goes ,since it has i am now very pleased with this kettle.

Well, I usually think that you only get what you pay for, I used to love Bosch power tools, BUT! that is not always the case.
My previous kettle is/WAS a Bosch which always dripped everywhere, after and whilst pouring from it and the other irritating point was that it often took an age to switch off when it was boiled or sometimes did not switch off at all.
That cost me £26.88 and was a Bosch TWK76033GB.
My latest one just cost me £20 and it is a Breville.
The spout is perfect and pours well and doesn't drip. It also switches off almost straight away once boiled so obviously saving on the electric bill.
It's only been a day but my wife also loves it as she is not constantly mopping up puddles as well.

Having had this exact same model in daily use for over 3 years, and, to be fair, with little looking after, the kettle was simply starting to look a bit old, with the internal scale filter beginning to come away and the limescale deposits getting harder to shift.
As there have been no problems at all with its performance, there was little reason not to invest in another and I was surprised to find the exact same model.
I guess white kettles are not on trend, as the BLACK version/VKJ557 was considerably more at the point of order!

Exactly as pictured in the current stock images, the jug kettle arrives securely packed in a sturdy RED & WHITE cardboard box measuring around 23 cm x 19.5 cm x 25 cm high. It comes complete with a 12-page instruction booklet (also available online), which includes ‘Product Safety’, ‘Cleaning’ & the guarantee. As per the ‘BEFORE FIRST USE’ guidance, on page 5, I definitely recommend at least 3 boils before the first hot drink to remove that ‘new machine’ odour.

The ‘CUP SCALE’ is clear, in BLACK, on the transparent areas with a ‘MAX’ level indicator, on both sides.
The ‘Breville’ logo is at the bottom of both sides of the kettle but not too large, IMO.

The kettle has a large, comfortable, near full-length handle to aid lifting and a good-sized, DARK-GREY coloured button near the top pushes up to ‘1’, to switch on, down to ‘0’, to switch off, on my model.

When open, the filling cavity is a good size and the water pours well from the nicely shaped spout.The lid closes with a satisfying click.In terms of performance, in my experience, it boils 500 ml (2 cups) in around 1 minute 20 seconds and at full capacity

Good design, loved it until it began to stop and start, blue ligh going out mid boil. Will have to bin in I’m afraid. Should have lasted longer.Very fast and economical but noisy.
