Had a previous model of this so was very disappointed that the variable amount dial was inferior and within a week had broken, so I swapped for another Breville model.
CazzaGood idea but we found water taste not great a bit plastic! Cant tell in coffee but can with Tea
JackFrost1Quite disappointed, water does not heat up as a kettle would so coffee only warm plus when water is dispensing it splashes out......disappointed as I had high hopes for it
Cindersgood design and fast to boil but the whole thing is ruined by the strong smell of plastic which permeates into the water making it taste disgusting, i have run two gallons of water through it but i still tastes and smells strongly of plastic. i have stuck it in the cupboard and gone back to using my kettle. definately not suitable for its purpose
andyIt looks great and does boils fast so it's very quick and convenient and easy to use.
Happycustomer28Initially very happy with it. But, during the recent extremely hot weather we didn't use it for a couple of days (same as leaving it at a weekend). Our drinks started tasting odd. Smelled of stagnant water. Tried emptying it & running litres of water through. Descaled it. Left it upside-down over the weekend to dry out. The bad design means you can never quite get all of the water out. You just can't clean it properly. Had to return it. Disappointed.
sjcEasy to use would recommend
MikePros: Very easy to setup and operate. Cons : Its capacity is not 2 litres as marketed. The maximum capacity is 1.5litres. This is very deceiving and misleading. It starts to leak once you pour 2 litres of water into it as it will mean going over the maximum capacity marked on it. The design and the feel is nothing more than cheap plastic. Another minus is the hotness of the water - it does not boil well. Actual kettle does a far better job.
NuelHad this kettle less than a week but it blew the socket! Put a new fuse in and it did it again. Returned to the shop for a full refund. Had the cheaper version before which lasted 8 years. This one has 10 settings but still only does about half a litre at the highest setting.
AllyI have purchased this several times over the years however will probably have to return this one as well - the performance & quality of this item has definitely deteriorated over the years & probably would not purchase again.
jackiebThe design is good . And it’s easy to use. But although the product is quite large, the actual capacity is smaller than most of the others on market. We do get a succinct taste of plastic from our tea or coffee. Unfortunately the interior isn’t hardened glass . But cheap plastic . So it gives that poor quality taste.
DavidThe product was a good price, looks good, has a variable water dispenser, it lights up when heating the water. Good size water tank. That is where the good bits end. After a few months, the temperature of the water delivered starts to drop. Also the amount of water delivered drops so you end up with a quarter of a cup of tepid water.Descaling does not help.Such a shame. Will be contacting Amazon now for a refund or to get it fixed but looking at other reviews (a bit late now) I'm not going to hold my breath. UPDATE - I phoned Breville and Amazon this morning, Amazon are refunding my purchase so I have ordered the Brita Filter one. Thanks to both Breville and Amazon. I hope the new one works.
WendyWe have replaced our hot water dispenser several times over the years and always with this model and brand. We make a LOT of tea in our house, so very heavily used. This time however, whilst it does exactly what it is meant to, the drip tray and unit itself wobble about all over the place and none of it fixes together properly. This is really annoying which is why I am only giving 2 stars. Simply shoddy, and unsure how this unit got through any quality checks - more like a ‘second’.
CatladyI knew as soon as I used this item for the first time that it was going back. Like other people have said the water portion it delivers is way too big for my mugs which are different makes and all average size. You can't press a button to stop the flow either so this means when you press the button to fill you have to stand and wait while it heats up and then when it spits the water out (making a right racket while doing so) you have to lift the mug out of the way when you get enough water and let the rest of the water fall into the spill tray below. This makes it the total opposite of a time saver, when a normal kettle boils I do not have to stand there and wait, I can do other things, this thing you have to guard it and then risk splashing hot water and coffee everywhere while you try and make your drink the right size, then you have to empty the overflow tray all the time as well. Totally pointless! On top of this the water container itself is way too small, I got maybe 3-4 mugs out of it, and it's REALLY awkward to fill up from the tap because the opening is too small and the flap gets in the way.Just a totally awkward design and not what I was hoping for at all. I'm going back to to a regular kettle now.
Mrs. A. CherringtonI bought this for my elderly grandad as I have the larger version & have been very happy with it - but I have to say this smaller version isn’t so good compared to mine- you can not adjust the amount of water that is dispensed so only an average sized mug will do & if you use a smaller cup - you cannot stop the water at any point - so it will overflow the cup - where as with mine you can adjust for the size of mug/cup & you can actually stop the flow of water with the touch of a button. Also when you fill it back up - the lid doesn’t clip back nicely into place - you have to actually push the lid down whilst holding the button you used to open it!!Overall a poor design compared to the larger more expensive Breville one cup dispenser.Wouldn’t buy again.
MoondustUnfortunately had to take it back due to leaking at handle. Apparantly its a common fault with some not all breville water dispenser
deeaDo quick to boil for a single cup Don't the water gauge is not very accurate and have to keep boiling up if more than one person also wants a cuppa. No good for making gravy
IanLooks great but unfortunately it has started to give short measures of water even when the adjustable dispenser was turned to maximum. It may just be a fault with this one so going to return it and get a replacement.
mlciIt’s ok to make tea for a few people but it takes a while to start boiling. The automatic switch is the main hook for this machine. However, the two main problems are that firstly, the maximum level of water dispensed is not enough for cooking pasta, rice, etc as it’s about 2 cups of water dispensed at a time, maximum. Secondly, the screw inside the lid has rusted and bits have fallen onto the water. I could live with the first shortcoming but not with the second. It’s a great idea but it needs to be improved. Must do better!!
G M AnthonyWas very disappointed with this product. Bought for my elderly mum as a surprise; had it delivered to her home when she tried it didn’t work returned it and got a replacement and that didn’t work, they both had different reason for retuning,
