Broke in less than 4 months...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I purchased this to replace my trusty Tesco Value kettle, as I was getting more enthusiastic about my tea and some kinds required water to be boiled to a certain temperature... The kettle has not only failed to boil the water to the claimed temperature, it has also only survived 4 months of fairly light usage.Horrendously overpriced product with very poor support, been now trying to get a replacement or a refund for over a month... The support has stopped responding to my emails, the so called return label was never sent to me.Lesson learnt... higher price tag doesn't always mean better quality and the claimed functionality is simply placebo.

Expensive water heater
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Let’s be honest, it’s a lot of money for a kettle. It matches my expensive toaster and I wasn’t allowed to buy one without the other. I do like the keep warm function but find I heat the water to the same temperature regardless what I’m drinking.

I love this kettle and whish I could give it 5 stars, however I am now on my third in 5 years as its not vary long lasting and temperature buttons stop working! for my friend in Spain it blew there electrics!I drink a lot of teas and infusions which require different temperatures, eg. boiling water on green tea is horrible, this kettle looks good (can be noisy) but very simple to use. having written this I wonder why I think its so good, but it fits my kitchen!

Used this kettle for just over two years. It stopped working this week due to failed sensor.Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend buying this kettle as it’s durability doesn’t reflect the premium price charged.

Really poor kettle
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Bought this together with a Sage toaster. The toaster is not bad, but the kettle is awful The following are just some of the issues:Completely uninsulated so be careful not to touch the kettle body after its boiled.Don't leave it unattended as it sometimes won't stop boilingMost often it won't actually get to boil, as it will cut out due to some obvious electrical issues and you have turn it off and on again at the mains and try again.

Poor design thinking
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Looks fine on photos but in reality reveals poor thinking and flawed design.

1. It makes beeping noises! Every time you take it from the base and every time you put it back. Also it beeps 3 times once the heating is done. And you can't turn the sound off. So it's a major source of nuisance in our household. Everyone absolutely hates it.

2. Poor typography. The numbers under the temperature buttons are hardly legible and not illuminated. Only the circle around the active button is highlighted which makes it only partially useful.

3. You never know whether it's hot or cold unless you touch it — there is no temperature indicator at all.

4. The temperature control seems to be imprecise. It boils way too long when doing 100c and starts boiling if you choose 95 which means it in fact boils water in both cases.

So generally it feels like a poorly thought through object. I just can't recommend it.

Shoddy goods buy at your peril!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Within 5 months of purchasing this very expensive kettle it has started to malfunction. In my case it refuses to switch off and carries on boiling filling the kitchen with steam. One assumes it could overheat and be a fire risk. The only solution is to manually switch it off once boiling. Sage customer service are worse than useless saying endlessly that this fault is due to limescale. They are now demanding pictures of the inside of my kettle. I have told them repeatedly, I use filtered water in the kettle, it is de scaled every 6 weeks and it is spotless inside. They appear not to believe me and are continuing to state my faulty kettle is due to limescale. Well the simple fact of the matter is: IT IS AN ESTREMELY EXPENSIVE KETTLE THAT IS FAULTY AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. BUY ONE AT YOUR PERIL. HESTON, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH SHODDY GOODS AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Unreliable - expensive.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Has proven to be unreliable. For a very expensive kettle, you would expect reliability. Previous kettles never failed but were replaced only to renew kitchen decor.Bought 18 month ago already temp selector switches are turning off and on by themselves; and getting worse. Have cleaned; descaled in case but not improved.

Had this kettle for just under 2 years and it'd died.At first it was brilliant, various temps and keep warm feature great. Then just after a year it started to boil and not switch off, which meant we couldn't leave it alone as we would come back into the kitchen and see steam everywhere and water running down the walls etc. Finally gave up the ghost a couple of days ago, when failed to switch off and violently boiled over, wetting the base and counter top. Buttons do nothing or randomly light up and switch position......pressing them does nothing. An expensive kettle to start with so should last longer really

Durablity is poor. Every time we press the on button it switches itself off and doesn't even try to heat up. You have to give it a wiggle and try again. Tried leaving voicemail messages multiple times for the manufacturer but they've not got back to me. Ive got a lot of Sage products, this kettle I would not recommend

Long term review - Poor quality
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Had this now for 4 years and I expect a kettle - especially at this price - to last longer than that but it's on its last legs. The lid has gradually become more and more loose and now doesn't shut properly - so it never turns off. It's also incredibly noisy despite the fact we have soft water so there is no scale. The temperature control presumably works but neither my family nor visitors have ever actually noticed any difference in the quality of the relevant drinks!Overall, grossly overpriced for what it is.

Product Description

The Smart Kettle: with Five Temperature Settings for Optimal Tea Flavour

"Coffee and tea release lots of bitter compounds if they're put into water that's too hot."

So it seems obvious to make a kettle that gives you the right temperature for the right ingredients.

The five temperature settings on this kettle are ideal for green, white, oolong and black tea as well as for coffee. These settings take the guesswork out of making the optimal cup. It also has a rapid boil function and a 'keep warm' setting to hold the temperature of the water for up to 20 minutes.

Heston's Tip: When it comes to brewing, the less oxidised teas like green and white teas release their tannins at a lower temperature. If you brew too hot, the bitter flavours overpower the tea. Conversely, if you brew too cold you don't release enough flavour from the leaf. The right balance is all about the right temperature.

Because Different Teas Require Different Temperatures

To extract the most delicate flavours, different teas need to be steeped at different temperatures. But how do you get it right without using a thermometer?

Five pre-programmed temperature buttons tell you which temperature to select for which type of tea. It heats to the selected temperature, turns itself off and, if selected, will even keep warm for 20 minutes after heating. It features a push button, soft opening lid to prevent hot water splatter, 1.7 L cordfree jug, concealed element and a scale filter.

Tea never tasted so good.
