The item arrived promptly and I have only just got around to using it for the first time. I was making a cake and the whisk/beater did not go anywhere near the sides of the bowl. There is some adjustment to lower the tools but is pointless without clearing the sides of the bowl. Not like my very old Kenwood Chef and I am very disappointed. This is a manufacturing issue, not a supplier one!

Formula1femaleDespite some initial delays in providing a delivery date to us in Portugal, the much awaited goods arrived without too much hassle and fairly promptly (at some extra cost). Everyone is familiar with Kenwood Chef's, so to our surprise we received an "upgraded" version made, to our horror, in China!
Now I'm sure that Kenwood would try to reassure us that it is made to their renowned design and produced to their exacting quality standards, guaranteed for 5 years, yadda, yadda, yadda. However, if we'd wanted to buy Chinese goods we would have done so, and at a fraction of the cost. Where our previous 30 year old model (permanently "borrowed" by our daughter) was made almost entirely out of die cast chassis, enamelled steel and minimal bakelite, this unit is a hybrid concoction of glossy plastic and "Tokyo tinsel" adorning a flimsy soft metal chassis. Little short of a travesty, I rather doubt this Kenwood product would survive much beyond the 5 year guarantee they boast of.
The reassurance we had, and paid richly for, of buying from the manufacturer has evaporated at a stroke. Kernwood always used to be a brand that proudly manufactured in the UK, vastly over engineered and built to last decades. Certainly it functions as it should, but it is frankly a flimsy shadow of its original self. Like Singer and many other long established household names, it is being put together by cheap (possibly child) labour in a third world country renowned for shoddy workmanship and dreadful quality control, to be imported and labelled with trusted brand names.
Would I have paid a premium of £100 to have had the product made as it used to be? Too darn right we would have. Returning it from Portugal would cost more than it's worth, so we'll put up with it, but be aware that anyone buying this will not be getting the original quality product that we have all come to expect from Kenwood.

Cynical Bhave only used it for 6 months was well expensive but the whisk has discoloured and pitted so cant use whisk anymore. expensive mistake.
Ruth RickardThis model is ok but even though you pay a high price for this item you'd expect more from kenwood I thought at least you'd get a liquidiser attachment. But that costs extra around £69 . So it's certainly not complete . There are various attachments to buy to make the kenwood complete. I regret buying this product as I've seen cheaper brands but complete with every attachment you could possible need. And at a fraction of the price . Choose wisely is my advise.
SkippyIt was fine for the first 12-14 months. Used at least once or twice a week. Most accesories still in original boxes i.e. it was well looked after.. Couple of months ago it began to occasionally not power up with the dial. Now it is dead. It appears that the manufacturers warranty is only 5 years for the more expensive models. This machine and brand are supposedly based on reliability and longevity.. Retailer is "you know who" so we don't have a chance. From our experience - poorly designed and builit and clearly overpriced and oversold.
