This was the second of three such kettles I purchased in 2019 the others were gifts, for family and friends.I purchased this one in September 2019 bur only used first time at Christmas 2019, I live in London's HARD WATER AREA, as most of my beverages come deem a Bean to Cup Auto this kettle is only used once a day maximum. Ten weeks of use was sufficient for the inside to become heavily scaled as I descaled as with every kettle I've ever owned a few times a year when noticeable - I use the liquid sachets of OUST descaler and have used this for many years now. After using and twice boiling with fresh water following the descaling, I rinsed and put back ready for use. The following morning my cleaner arrived and started ny making both of us a coffee. Coming back to the Kitchen to collect my coffee I spotted a puddle od water around the Kettle and thought my Cleaner had overfilled the kettle before boiling yje kettle so asked her to be careful to avoid accidents - but she replied Kettle was leaking when she arrived, she said she had twice wiped away but was coming from the kettle, after examination I looked and cannot see where is leaking from but suspect its the water level view window on the rear of the kettle.Generally I have been unpressed with Bosch appliances large and small, in addition to this style of kettle of which I purchased a total of three of this model, prior ro that had purchased five of the TWK8510 model Kettle of these 8 items. this is the first tu fail in such a manner. Do to a recent disability I am prevented from getting out to effect a return to seeker or manufacturer - thats assuming they were prepared to replace repair or refund me in the first place.
D B.Looks impressive and the variable temperature feature turns out to be very useful. It boils very quickly and is relatively quiet. On the other hand, as others have mentioned, opening the lid is a bit of an art (a light tap) and doesn't always work, and now, after only 6 months, it doesn't always switch off when the water is boiling.
A FursdonI had this kettle in red before however, the picture shows this in a nice matallic red which would have matched my Russell Hobbs matallic red mug tree and knife holder however, the kettle turned out to be the cheap plain plastic red colour and not matallic at all. I basically brought the same kettle!! Misleading picture. Needs changing.
DaveJThird Bosch kettle over many years 2nd one lid started to stick when opening after many years, so bought recent one. Lid was also sticking straight away, shame but now changed to other brand
BobotogThis is a very poor design. It very difficult to open as the lid sticks
Nick CrawleyWorst kettle ever two weeks in and the water dosent taste any better just tastes of PLASTIC and carnt take it back now as you only get 14 days so realy disgusting with argos was told to give it a bit longer as its new but nope my taste buds carnt hack it any more the review are shocking all saying about the taste yuk yuk
DebsterLooks good, nice blue light in it. What I didn't realize when I bought it, the entire inside is plastic lined, it gave the water a dreadful plastic/chemical taste even after at least 10 refills and boilings, noticable in tea and coffee, couldn't drink it. Took it back and got a stainless steel Russell Hobbs one instead
ReedbedMelOur previous kettle had a picture on the website that looked pretty much the same as the one here. The old kettle was made of metal and had a really nice deep red finish that was subtle and not too shiny. However, this model is a really cheap looking dull red plastic. We were so disappointed that it went straight back to Argos (who were excellent at refunding the money with no quibbles).
SJDReturned as too much plastic, wanted a metal kettle.
Amazon CustomerWe returned the kettle as the water tasted of plastic. We boiled water in it several times and the water still had a plastic taste to it Would not recommend
TonyLove the look of the kettle and the colour perfectly matches my kitchen. I purchased this purely because of the colour and didn’t realise it was plastic. I’ve never had a plastic kettle before but the taste is awful. The boiled water tastes like TCP. I’m now having to use filtered water in the kettle which stops the awful taste.
NinesSimply don’t buy it. Only after 7 days the lid is broken!!
mojganIt’s plastic inside and I therefore returned it before using it. Quite a surprise for such a high quality kettle. The look and feel of it was great though!
AVery disappointed, not what I expected.
Tiggernice design, took longer than expected to boil when full, well over 3 minutes, fairly noisey, but had to take it back as even after boiling first for at least 5 times, got a horrible leg metallic after taste In my coffee, would not recommend
mattIt leaks like a sieve!
slow n steadyWish I had read other reviews before purchasing kettle Had to return kettle after a week due to the metallic taste everytime we used it Changed for a different brand which was perfect
PoppyWhen the kettle is used the water tastes terrible, would not recommend returning to Argos.
bobreturned kettle due to chemical taste and smell
nononsenseKettle looked very nice but the water tasted foul. A very plastic type taste even after boiling it ten times so I returned it to the shop.
