It’s a bit of a pain to be honest but I’m sure it’s the same with all machines like this. I just thought the flavour would have been better but I’ll persevere a bit longer.
SignwriterI have used De Longhi machines for many years and have been very pleased with them. However this machine is awful. It is small, it rattles and shakes and feels like it won't last the year if used every day. My main criticism, however, is that it does not produce a crema, something essential for a decent espresso. Previously De Longhi machines could always be relied upon to produce coffee with a crema and real depth of flavour, not this one. For those who like cappuccino it does not froth the milk very well either. So yes it is cheap but it is most certainly not good value
Diogenese16I already have one, use it daily and recommended it to a friend. This was meant to be a gift for this friend. It arrived on time as stated. Unfortunately, on unpacking it I noticed that the plastic plate that enables one to compress the coffee in the coffee filter cup was broken. As it is too much of a hassle to send it back, and it should make no difference to its function, we decided against sending it back... at least unless we find further problems with it.There were further problems. The coffee was not hot although the indicator light suggested it would be. The machine is noisy unlike the ones my brother and I have. I hadn't realised this was a refurbished machine when I bought it.We're sending this machine back.

We're sending this machine back.
Having had a previous model for a few years I decided to replace it with this one when it started to fail. Unfortunately, the design of the coffee holder has been changed and it's now impossible to get any crema at all as the water is pumped through too fast.
C W.I know these aren't expensive but they really don't do what they're supposed to. I sent the first one back because there was virtually no crema and the replacement is now about to be returned as there's even less crema, just a few half hearted bubbles.
daisy234Product become faulty after 2 weeks
KindeThese machines need to be recalled. They become so hot that you can not touch them to make the steam. When you want to make the espresso the water doesn't come out of the coffee holder. It comes out of the back and the front through the main housing screws. So disappointed, I have had to return two machines for exactly the same reason. Please go back to the old model, it was great and lasted for years. This machine definitely gives De'Longhi a bad name.
BARCLAYCARDGood but the supplied single shot container is not designed for pads. I had to spend another £12 getting the one for pods
ProfNot impressed very fiddly to use
patricia beswickvibrates while working. Also, i believe there should be a rubber layer between the sump and the cup pod filter for better concentration of coffee. Otherwise the espresso becomes very light.
Abdelrahman Khateebbad quality coffee
Amazon CustomerNot good
florin constantinnot a bad 'little' machine this, its cheap fairly quick, simple to use and makes great coffee. so what else as the well known ad saysWell there are a few thing you should be aware of before you buy.firstly it take VERY small cups, literally only espresso size cups and nothing else, its not very clear from the pictures but the gap from the base tray to the bottom of the dispenser is only about 2 inches. OK that is not an issues if espressos is all you ever intend making.secondly and this might be the deal breaker, its the noisiest coffee maker i have ever heard - its deafening, sound liek someone drilling through the wall, and its not just the noise, the vibration is terrible. i had to hold the cup in place so it didn't shuffle out of the machine,
DannyDO NOT BUY!Real shame for Delondgi, only the tiniest cups fit in. Even for a normal espresso cup I need to remove the pad to make it fit as they are too tall for this non sense machine! I really really really really hate it! Makes noise and shakes like a bulldozer.Delonghi really need to withdraw this from the market as it is a big disgrace !
GeorgiCan’t get mugs underneath
BuyerWatery coffee ,underneath you can only a small espresso cup and not a cappuccino and steamer is not very powerfulShame
annaThis EC146 model (probably) has a much reduced build cost when compared to my failed EC310. The extensive use of medium density plastics - rather than steel - for the casing is 'interesting'. Further dismayed by the replacement of a polycarbonate water tank with a polythene one. After a few purging cycles, the coffee produced was completely froth- less. Using the filter and handle from the previous model did produce a well-frothed second effort! This suggests to me that the new, simplified, strainer design does not provide enough back pressure to foam the coffee stream. It might be that as the filter scales-up, it might make the new 1- and 2-cup filters satisfactory. My impression is that the "15 bar" claimed pressure is not actually achieved at the strainer where it's needed - using the rather open-meshed strainers supplied. The pump is actually quite quiet by comparison. Time will tell! The drip catching tray (under the delivery outlet) does not appear to come apart from the plastic grille above it. This looks like a potential hygiene issue, albeit a low risk one. On the plus side, the use of the medium density plastic to support my tasse -type cup is good in that it does not travel due to pump vibration - like the previous model's chrome one allowed it to. It could be that - functionally - the use of plastics is an improvement, but part of the experience of making espresso is the tactile interaction with the kit! This scores poorly on the 'touchy feely' quotient. But for the time being, it does make a tasse of fine coffee using the 2-cup filter full of fine-ground coffee! .... even if with an old filter cup on hand!I expect it to last two years - at which time I will see what else is available at this espresso 'entry level'.Pete.
PeteI bought this coffee machine in April to replace our Rowenta machine when I broke the glass beaker on the Rowenta.Having researched coffee machines on Amazon, Which and the De'Longhi and Rowenta websites I thought this one would fit the bill and my budget. The instructions are detailed and pretty clear. But it is a real faff to make one let alone two coffees. I also can't take off the steamer nozzle to wash it - surely this is unhygienic!I am minded to contact Amazon and ask for a refund under the rights I have as a consumer.
Kindle CustomerVery disappointed with this, it has developed a leak
