Didn’t like it anyway at all the most disappointing thing was the temperature or should I say the lack of it!!!!!! Not even warm even though I followed all the instructions. 1 might add it was sent back with a very disappointing overview
Stuart ecclesbrocken package...milk frotter....faulty
alMy second DeLongi, I purchased this when my last one was three years old and just gave up. Service offered to try to fix the previous one at a cost, but there was no guarantee that it could be fixed, and inspection would be charged, and I had no packaging to send it away. So I plumped for a newer more expensive model simply because it makes good coffee day in day out. I have had the new one exactly one year and 3 days and the Milk Frother has given up. I still have the old Milk frother which fits perfectly, but it won't work either. I've descaled. Still wont work. Looks like Delongi wont sell the jug lid any more, you must buy the whole thing at £48. And there's no guarantee its the jug ( since 2 dont work). It still makes good coffee, but the milk system doesnt work. Its hard to recommend Delongi if you want a system that works for more than a year.Very disappointed.
GordonWe have had this machine for almost 2 years now.It produces great coffee at the touch of a button, however we have been plagued with faults. We have had to return it to Delonghi twice for repair and had to be sent a replacement part on a separate occasion. We now have another fault which I believe will lead to it being returned again once I hear back from Delonghi. Our 2 year guarantee is up in a couple of months time and I'm very concerned that it will continue to develop faults which will cost us a fortune to repair outside of guarantee. The bulk of the faults are in relation to the milk frother. It isn't what you expect from a £1000 coffee machine.
RebeccaStarts off well but then starts to fail. Our unit has been repaired by De'Longhi three times. The major problem is the steaming device. Certainly not worth the money. Looks good and the Espresso quality is not bad but that's it. Definitely a waste of money given the very high price, look at better made brand.
IanUpdate. 28/10/2014The unit has been repaired under warranty. The cause of the fault was a failed solenoid. The warranty service was very good. They arranged collection and return. The unit was returned 8 days after collection. You get a service book with the unit explaining the fault and a checklist of each function that was tested/checked. I hope the unit will last longer than 13 months this time. However, I have kept the box just in case!Original ReviewFirstly you have to accept this unit is overpriced, but so are all the other makes. I have had the unit for 13 months and the milk pump has failed (for latte etc.) For a unit at this price I would expect at least 5 years of service before a failure of this type. It is going back for repair under warranty and I will update this review when it returns. I have made 1400 (1000 of these were latte) cups of coffee over the 13 months before the unit failed. The unit does have a lot of feature and achieves a satisfactory cup of coffee with various types of beans. I also use the pre-ground function for decaff, which works well. But again, I have used many different bean to cup coffee makers in the price bracket and they are all very similar. Finally, I would recommend that you keep the original packing for this unit as you will probably sending the unit back at some point in the first 2 years! Otherwise finding suitable packing for its return is a real pain.
DPS6000I bought an ESAM 6700 in August 2013.First off - it's a very pretty machine. The 'fridgeable' milk jug is very handy and, initially I was very pleased with the machine itself. As others have mentioned; it doesn't produce a hot cup of coffee unless the cup is preheated - but I could live with that.Frothing of milk was very hit and miss - sometimes it worked beautifully; other times it just spluttered and delivered very little. The facility to select different strengths of coffee was great - I like mine really strong while my wife likes hers weak.It never quite managed to produce me a full mug of really strong coffee (by selecting two long espressos) - but it got close. The dedicated 'Long Coffee' button got it maybe a little stronger - but it took a while to produce the coffee.Despite these flaws I'd have probably given it 4 stars - but then the trouble started. In February 2014 the milk frothing heater stopped working. It still produced espresso etc but wouldn't produce frothed milk, hot milk or hot water - it just displayed 'heating' continuously. Six months old and failed - OK maybe it was just bad luck so I contacted De Longhi (Kenwood) who collected the machine for repair. It was returned about a week later. All was well until May 2014 when it failed again in exactly the same way. So only three months this time!De Longhi insisted it had to go in again for repair. Packing these things up is a nightmare and I'd lost confidence in the machine so I went back to the supplier (not Amazon) and went the 'not fit for purpose' route. After a great deal of argument I received a refund. So no; I wouldn't give De Longhi house room.I've now got a Miele CM6300 machine. It's not as pretty as the De Longhi but, as a coffee machine, it's in a different class. It produces hot coffee, consistently froths milk beautifully and allows the creation of multiple profiles for different users. I select my profile, it gives me strong coffee of the quantity I want. My wife selects hers, she gets her weak variations. Now this one I really do rec
S. GambleWe love the coffee from this machine and have had it for 3 years now but it is starting to get grubby. The brewing mechanism is meant to come out for easy cleaning but neither myself or my partner can budge it. Also, over time coffee grounds have gone in the space under the workings of the coffee maker and cannot be got out without taking the bottom off but we do not have the tool for this and there is a sticker advising that you do not do this yourself anyway...ugh!
Neili have had this machine for three years. It continuously breaks down and has to be returned to Delonghi. I have paid another £200 in repair bills and am now demanding a refund under the sale of goods act that allows six years for a consumer to be protected.
dave9984cannot heat the milk it does not come out hot enough it makes the coffee cool down complained got nowhere for paying over £900 pound and to be told nothing they can do heat the cup with hot water cannot sent it back as there is no fault in it i think the makers could have been a bit more helpfull
alan buickEasy to set up but after a three weeks it started to go wrong the clean button did not work so in the end I returned it to amazon
WasThe worst cappucino maker ever. yes you are paying a delicious price tag. I was too. In the 14 months that I have owned this machine, it has been in "delonghi service for non-functioning" 8 times and continues to break down again. At this point I have put it on a side walk with a sign "FREE" on it for anyone to take. The only good thing is its milk frother. Other than that......... the grinder consistently gets stuck aside from the fact that when it occasionally doesn't get stuck (hooray!! good morning for me!!!), the "espresso" has such variable quality in taste and aroma that no Italian would stick to this. Appalling and shame on delonghi. they may stay in business but I can guarantee you that it is not because of me buying their products! never ever again. Not even if they gave it to me for free.
0000The PrimaDonna ESAM6700 is a coffee machine designed to give any user the ability to make restaurant and coffee bar standard coffee in the comfort of their own home. It grinds fresh beans internally and has an integrated carafe for frothing fresh milk, delivering all your favourite coffee drinks – espresso, lungo, latte, and cappuccino – at the touch of a button. The PrimaDonna is sleekly styled with a premium stainless steel finish to look attractive in any home.
All aspects of a typical professional pump espresso machine (like the ones you see in your high street coffee bar), such as grinders, filter holders, and steam pipes, are found working inside the PrimaDonna ESAM6700: De'Longhi has simply redesigned, compacted, and hidden them inside the machine. Magnifica expertly performs all of these functions at the touch of one button. The traditional milk frother allows you to impress your guests by manually frothing the milk whilst making them the ideal cappuccino or latte.
Removable milk carafeThe innovative patented milk carafe plugs straight into the machine, and when you have selected the froth density to tailor your coffee simply press the button on the control panel for latte and cappuccino and the machine does the rest for you.
The system has been designed to ensure the milk never goes inside the main body of the machine to guarantee utmost hygiene at all times. The milk carafe has an auto-clean button, which when pressed cleans the pipes inside the milk carafe so that it can then be unplugged and conveniently stored in the fridge until the next time you'd like a milky coffee. When it's time to change the milk in the carafe, it can be dismantled and all parts can be conveniently popped in the dishwasher.
Integrated burr grinderThe integrated professional burr grinder has seven adjustable coarseness settings. The taste and quality of your coffee depends heavily on how finely the beans have been ground – choose the finer setting for a stronger taste, or a more coarse setting for a weaker-tasting coffee.
The coffee beans are freshly ground for each serving, and the coffee strength is fully programmable so you can change the amount of coffee it grinds and dispenses from 7 to 11 grams.
The brewing unit provides optimum heat distribution; it does all of the priming, pre-brewing, warming up, coffee dosing, coffee tamping, and extraction for you.
It is automatically rinsed every time you turn the machine on or off, and the innovative design means the brewing unit is removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.
ThermoblockThermoblock is the type of boiler found in De'Longhi bean-to-cup coffee machines. It only heats enough water for your coffee serving, ahieving a stable and accurately controlled water temperature that is crucial for brewing the ideal coffee.
This reduces warm-up time, so that your coffee machine is ready for use in seconds, and is designed to be energy efficient when compared to traditional boilers. The coffee temperature can be tailored further in the menu settings.
Ergonomic and easy to useBoth the water and coffee ground containers are at the front of the machine, so they can be easily removed for cleaning. The water tank is easy to refill – simply take it to the tap and fill – and will hold up to 1.8 litres of water.
The intuitive digital display enables you to effortlessly navigate the controls, and tells the user exactly what is happening at all times. It will inform you when the coffee grounds container needs emptying, and when the water tank needs filling, and will take you through all the steps of making your favourite coffee. It even tells you when it's time to descale the machine.
One or two cupsSelect one or two cups of coffee at the same time just by pressing the relevant button. The number of coffees selected is indicated with a single or double cup on the front panel. This function is available for the black coffee options on the machine, and automatically adjusts the amount of coffee ground in a single brewing cycle.
Memory functionThe ESAM6700 can memorise your favourite coffee. This can be actioned by programming the amount of milk, water, and coffee you would like to be used, and storing it in the memory. Simply select 'My coffee' on the rotary control to access this function.
Automatic shut offThe PrimaDonna ESAM6700 will automatically switch itself off after a pre-set amount of time has elapsed.
Adjustable coffee dispenserThe coffee dispenser can be moved up or down to accommodate both full-size latte glasses and espresso cups.
The bean-to-cup journeyThe function of a bean-to-cup machine is just as the name suggests: delivering coffee straight from freshly ground beans into your cup in seconds. After pressing one button to select espresso, the bean-to-cup journey starts at the integral coffee bean grinder: an adjustable, professional conical burr grinder will expertly grind the beans to your desired coarseness.
The ground coffee is then packed tightly by the internal brewing unit. Hot water is forced through the coffee up to a professional 15-bar pressure. The espresso is then delivered straight into the cup. The hallmark of a well made espresso is recognised by the 'crema', a creamy, hazelnut-coloured layer that sits on top of the espresso to seal in temperature and flavour. The thicker the crema, the better the espresso, and the quality of the machine that produced it.
If you have run out of coffee beans or want/prefer to use pre-ground coffee instead (decaffeinated for example), use the control panel to change the settings and put ground coffee in the ground coffee compartment.
De'Longhi quality and coffeeQuality and reliability remain integral to De'Longhi's brand values. All products are subjected to rigorous quality checks. The top of the range machines are still designed, produced, and assembled by hand in the Italian production sites, in order to uphold the expected high standards.
