People usually buy I litre kettles to save space, or for people who are unable to lift a standard 1.7 litre kettle, as I did. However, the weight was not displayed at the time I bought it (I think it has since been added) or I would have realised this is actually heavier than many much larger 1.7 ltr standard kettles. It is therefore unsuitable for my elderly disabled mother. I also hate it because they could not be bothered to fit a standard UK plug. Instead the smaller 'continental' plug has been encased in an large, ugly, clumsy outer casing - something not shown in the illustration. I would never buy something like this in a shop. The Breville and Russell Hobbs models are far superior, though cheaper. Finally, it was supplied wrapped in a tough plastic bag, making it difficult to re-use the original packing to return it. And unfortunately the seller refuses to pay return postage, nor has access to Amazon's collect/return points so I have the considerable inconvenience of taking it to a Post Office and the expense of sending this very heavy item back via some tracked service to ensure they cannot claim not to have received it. I wish I could give it less than one star.
