Our daughter bought the Citiz which makes perfect coffee AND perfect, thick, foam. The Nespressp Citiz never disappoints. So we decided to buy a Nespresso but checked Amazons other options. We paid nearly £300 and chose the Latissima, it has more specs and we thought it would be even better than the Citiz, It isn't.For us, making a gorgeous cup of coffee has, so far, been hit & miss to get the right amount of foam. If we get the right settings each time, the results are excellent. The Latissima also has the capacity to make more than 1 cup at a time because it has a milk container attached which holds enough for up to 4 cups. The milk volume works auto to the settings. As we are retired and only need 1 or 2 cups, we find the settings too long winded. Likewise cleaning brittle, plastic fittings, clean & replace. The Citiz is simpler and cheaper. The machine makes a hot coffee of choice first, while you would pour the cold milk into the separate milk container. Remove cup of hot coffee and put aside. Place the milk container into the coffee maker for just a few seconds. The machine makes the cold milk very warm and frothy. We pour and spoon the thick foam onto the mug of coffee.I've never cleaned the Citiz machine but washing the milk container at the same time as my empty cup is easy enough.
Malcolm ChallinorGreat things - pods are 100% recyclable, coffee tastes great, lots of choice, milk very frothy, super easy to clean, easy to use, excellent customer service. Not so great things - tiny cups of coffee - if you drink it by the bucket load like me, you’ll need 2 pods for each cup. Coffee doesn’t ‘brew’ long enough, so to me, there’s a lot of wastage.
Shinelikeitdoes66Only just got this today and wow!!It does exactly what it says on the boxAfter 1 month it goes wrong apparently it needs descaling
HarveyI was sold on the easy to use, easy to clean story and it is anything but. The instructions on all the buttons aren't clear and the amounts of milk / coffee it spits out are totally random - you may get a 1/2 cup or it might overflow.
The worst part is cleaning it, you spend more time cleaning up than making or drinking coffee! The marketing says it's easy to clean the bits in the dishwasher, but that's only some of it, you still have to take fiddly bits off and clean them by hand. The machine constantly lights up the "clean" warning where you have to put a spare cup under the spout and blow a load of noisy steam through it - more washing. Furthermore the coffee spout constantly drips and there isn't a removable drip tray to catch it in, so you need to keep a cloth handy to keep mopping up. Now the "descale" light has come on too (after only 2 months) and the machine has only ever had bottled water in so it can't have any limescale.
This is such a poor design and I wish I hadn't bought it. The one with the detachable round milk frother is WAY better and I'd swap it out any day. Unfortunately, I missed the return cut off with Amazon so I'm stuck with this thing now.
