We cant remember when we bought this its so long a go but must be at least 5years. We use it at least 2 or 3 times a day AND we're in a hard water area and only now its starting to leak round the bottom. Seeing the reviews for modern day kettles i think its worth taking it apart and descale everything. I'll update how it goes. Only very minor thing, yes its noisy but that's what optical disks do in order to be quick. I'd rather that than taking ages to finish. Lid still opens fine as its a simple lift up lid (sounds like the button ones on other kettles scale up or rust!!- hopeless). Just hope Philips hasn't redesigned this one into unreliability. Just to note; my old one is HD4646/75/A ( 2500-3000W) so i'm worried now that there are different types of HD4646's. This HD4646/00 may not be as quick as our old one as it is rated at 2400W???? and this ad doesn't mention rapid boil. Also the European plug may be an issue too????Repair update: Can't repair properly as i need star screwdriver & are glued in I think :((, but silicon seal cleaned up fine fine though

My old kettle was on its way out, so I ordered another Phillips, as current one had served me well. It turned up when expected, but has a European plug, so I have not been able to use it yet. Have ordered a plug adapter, which comes this week. As product was delivered in the UK, not sure how this happened, but good job my old kettle is keeping going for now!!

Decent kettle. it is a 2nd one we got. 1st waa from outside uk so obviously it had eu plug i had to change. now, 2nd one was ordered in uk and it also have eu plug. good thing i can use old base
