We've been using the Melitta Optima Timer for three weeks now. We bought it to replace a £500 Krups Bean to Coffee machine we have. The Meliitta is very simple to use, and makes delicious coffee. The timer facility is simple and fantastic - wake up to a jug of hot fresh filter coffee. The hot plate will keep the coffee hot for 2 hours before switching off.For £50 there is no longer the need to rinse out that cafetiere and cleaning all those coffee granules out of your sink.

Purchased this coffee machine in August 2018, used it to brew 1-2 pots of coffee daily. Looks good on the countertop, timer works well, despite white colour easier than most to keep clean (the only small corners and ridges for dirt to accumulate are behind the coffee pot and filter) with a proper wipe down every other day more than sufficient. Temperature of the coffee is great (everyone in my family drink their filter coffee black or with only very little milk and nobody’s complained). Capacity could be better (realistically this is only good to serve four average coffee mugs) but you cannot have everything. In fact this machine was on route to get a 5-star review until it just stopped working today. Almost on the day 10 months it just stopped: Lights are on but nothings brewing. Exceptionally disappointing for such a reputable brand.

I've had quite a few coffee machines over the years and can honestly say that this is the best coffee machine I've owned... until it stopped working. The machine was used daily and worked perfectly for 9 months but then just stopped working. The power indicator and clock illuminated but the machine would not pump the water through and the hotplate remained cold. There are some similar reviews on here so I'm guessing that this is a common fault with this machine, but this is not what you expect from a quality Melitta product (and they are not cheap). Amazon have issued a refund and I have ordered another one of these coffee machines as they really do produce excellent coffee, but let's hope that the replacement machine lasts longer than 9 months. I will update this review if I have problems with coffee machine number two.
Update 21/04/2019: Coffee machine number two stopped working after 6 months. Exactly the same fault as coffee machine number one. I will be contacting Amazon for a refund this time as there is clearly a fault with these coffee machines and they are not built to last. Very disappointed.

Suddenly stopped working at all.Followed all the instructions on descaling and has been used daily at home until today when it just... stopped.Light comes on but doesn't heat up or brew.Less than 5 months old.

My Wife is thrilled with its style, ease of use and it keeps the coffee hot.

Like most coffee lovers I like to enjoy my coffee and not think about if the coffee will be hot for the next cup. This machine allows you to keep coffee hot for anything up to 2 hours.
Like most purchasers I read the previous reviews before buying, so much so that I measured the volume of my cup before buying. My mugs are about 350ml and I can just get 3 mugs out of this machine. I have a lot of size 4 paper filters and have used this thus far, with no issues, even though they are a little big.
I can confirm that the auto shut off works very well, no little leaks onto the hot plate.
The machine seems quite sturdy and I wish I had spent the extra before buying my cheaper machine.
I have not used the hardness function as I use only filtered water, but there is the option to change the water hardness level. I have not done anything about this yet, but I will do over time.
If i have any gripes about this machine its the size of the reservoir and the carafe, I would have liked it to be about 50/100ml bigger.
I would strongly recommend this machine to all coffee lovers.

I deliberated a while when purchasing this coffee filter machine. This one is excellent and makes a perfect cup of filter coffee. The maching looks very nice and the removable reservoir tank is easy to fill and as it is transparent so you can see exactly how much is poured in.
I absolutely love this product.

We find this extra time very useful but coffee loses some of its flavour eventually.Note that the jug on this model is quite small with a capacity of one litre, enough for 4 mugs.

Finally a Filter Coffee Machine at a "reasonable" Price that makes piping hot coffee! I bought this after a bad experience with a cheaper unit, where the coffee was barely warm, and in no way could be called hot. At least not when you compare it with the coffee you get in outlets such as Starbucks and Costa Coffee.

With this unit, if you leave the coffee to filter and then sit for perhaps 5-10 mins, you get piping hot coffee. hot enough to burn you if you spill it, just like you get on the high street!

It also allows you to change the default time of the hot plate, so you can increase it above the default half an hour if you so wish. The other cheaper unit I tried was fixed at 30 mins, blaming EU laws for this!

I've been using this unit for two months now and am happy to recommend it, if you like your coffee hot! if it doesn't work like this then send it back as it must be faulty.

I love it. I have a very early start so love the timer. It looks good and makes great coffee.

Good coffee maker

Well it was really good until this morning when it gave up. It's not heating up so I guess that's it. Call me old-fashioned but I do expect things to last a bit longer than two years! Back to the cafetière for me....

Bought this in October as a birthday gift have just been informed it no longer works, would expect more than two months out of a product. Have binned the box so unable to return. Not happy

mine after approx 20 months has just stopped filtering the water , but i cannot find out how to get repaired or replaced .Not able to contact Amazon !!!

Makes a lovely cup of coffee, and is easy and clean to use. Some people seem confused about how long it'll keep the pot warm for. I believe it's 30 minutes by default, but there's an option to change that. I have it set to 90 minutes, and it works just fine. I've knocked a star off for two reasons - one, the device has a very useful 'no drip' feature that cuts the flow of liquid into the pot off when you remove it. But even if left until it looks like all the coffee has passed into the pot, there can often be a drip on to the hot plate when you take the pot out. It's hardly the end of the world to give it a quick wipe, but it means the feature isn't quite working as it should. And two, the (102 size) filters can be a bit tricky to get hold of, at least here in the UK. I haven't been able to find them in most of the supermarkets I've been to, for example. You can either buy more standard sizes and tear a bit off, or I'd recommend finding an online supplier and buying a load of them. Shop around a bit for prices. Those two slight niggles aside, I think it's a great machine, and would happily recommend it.

Delivery great. This coffee maker is excellent, makes a ovel hot cuppa. It does need paper filters but think you get a better coffee as a result.
