It is good because it gives you all what you need when you weigh anything but the down side it is a bit small

Really useful for diabetics.

Great item. Just what we wanted. It’s easy to use and is useful as you can split each individual food group to get a total.

Let's Have A UK Version!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

These are great scales; accurate, nice to look at, with a clear display. My only issue is with the food codes listed in the manual. They are not ordered alphabetically, presumably because the list has just been translated from German. There are also some very niche foods, some I've never heard of, and some that are so vague I don't see how they could be useful. For example, I couldn't find baked beans, but I could find these:-

- cheese pie with walnuts
- knackwurst
- Meat cut into strips, Zurich style, dry product / powder form
- Leipzig vegetable medley, deep-frozen
- Pan-cooked vegetables, French, deep-frozen
- Pan-cooked vegetables, Italian, deep-frozen
- Pan-cooked vegetables, Mexican, deep-frozen
- Cheeseburger

That's not to say none of the codes are useful; a great deal of them are. And I'm not suggesting that I baked beans should be given top priority. It's just obvious that it is a German product being sold in the UK, but it isn't geared towards the UK market. However, 50 of the 1000 codes are programable so you can create a few of your own, including baked beans if you wish :)

All in all it's a really good set of scales and very handy for tracking nutrition. I would give it 5 stars if they had made a version aimed at the UK market.

Good but with some practical reservations
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have found the scale very good and have been using it every day but mainly just as a scale. Like other reviewers, I have found the food list included in the instruction manual rather difficult to use and it is clearly designed to suit the German market and particularly German foodstuffs and names which are not familiar to me here in England. However, I have improved things somewhat by converting the food list into an Excel spreadsheet and done an alphabetical sort on categories. I do find myself resorting to a calorie counter book which has a more comprehensive list of foods (and pictures) and which enables a particular food to be found more quickly.

Very accurate, and visually pleasing.

This is a very sensitive, and very useful piece of kit. It can be a bit confusing to use with the manual, but is very accurate and simple for just weighing things. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to check the nutritional value of ingredients/foods by weight.

Fantastic!!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

These are fantastic - why didn't I discover them earlier! I have a type 1 diabetic son and we have to weigh out everything he eats and calculate the carbs. With these wonderful scales he still has to weigh everything out, but he can now choose to have as much or as little as he wants and the scales tell him the amount of carbs the food contains. They even do a running total, so he can make himself a massive bowl of breakfast cereal, milk and raisins and the scales will give him the total. I cannot comment on the other nutritional values because we only use the carb function. And we don't use any of the pre set values so I don't know how accurate they are. We have only used the slots that we programme ourselves and it is pretty straight forward to do. Anything that makes life that little bit easier for a diabetic is worth its weight in gold.

though it's easy to see why this is the case
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Owned the scales for just a couple of days but impressed so far. Agree with the previous reviewer that the non-alphabetical order of the products in the booklet is frustrating, though it's easy to see why this is the case: it's a German company, and the foods are actually in alphabetical order when in German, as you'll see if you glance at the German instructions. Short of re-programming for every language and printing separate lists, there's no easy way round this. That said, I've already started to keep my own list of foods commonly used, so I can happily live with it.

Nice looking item and seems to work well. I'm particularly happy with the 'tare' function and the ability to quickly reset the weight to 0 while still leaving the previous ingredients on the scale, in order to add more. On my previous scales, there was no on-off switch so I had to wait for the scale to power off naturally (1 minute), so that function was effectively useless.

I would recommend this item, both as standard kitchen scales, and for anyone keen to log carbs, calories, fat, protein etc of foods that are not packaged / labelled, or for foods that you are not using a convenient quantity of to allow you to easily do the calculation in your head.

Helpful scales for calculating carbohydrate values and other dietary information
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Very nice piece of kit! The unit is smart and not over-large. The display is very sharp and clear. The food values are in the booklet which accompanies the scales. They appear to me to be in line with current dietary advice from other sources. I use them for carbohydrate values. The only issue is that the the item listings are not alphabetical and some of the descriptions are a bit Germanic. Overall I'm very happy with these scales. They are a big step up from the previous Salter model I owned.
