Started going wrong almost exactly at the end of the warranty period.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Quite literally stopped working right within two months of going out of warranty. Something to do with moving on between different stages as it gets to the end of the rinse cycle and then suddenly goes all the way back to wash and so far as I can see would remain in that loop forever. I made do for a little while by stopping it after the first repeat, manually switching it to Drain and re-starting it. But now it wont even do that.Adequate machine up until this point but 1-star because I believe it was deliberately designed to fail after a set amount of time. Machine has seen very light use in its lifespan.

Programs Take Far Too Long !!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have hated this machine from the first day I got it! The instructions are useless and it takes forever (you are supposed to be able to use the time saver button but it only works on one program!) and the clothes are so creased when they come out. I don’t know what it does to them. I had a Hotpoint washer/dryer before for 8 years and it was nothing like this one.The only program I use now is No. 10 the 30 degree 30 minute one but the clothes are still creased like they’ve been screwed up in a ball ????. Who designs these machines? Obviously not someone who uses them.

Awful. Avoid
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Geniuenley a awful machine. EXTREMELY slow, clothes come out soaking wet if you don’t selected a drying mode, which takes over 2 hours to finish. The machine won’t open until it’s finished; even then the clothes are still wet. If you enjoy spending your whole day waiting for clothes to wash and having no indication for when the wash will stop, then this is the machine for you

It turned up with no protective packaging plumbed it in and nothing but flashing lights now have to wait more days for engineer to come and look at it. No it does not meet expectations, I am pretty disappointed.

Don't buy this machine, I had a John Lewis washer dryer for 5 years no bother untill the dryer went, was going to take a week for new one to come from J L so went to local shop who could deliver next day, what a mistake, I have had it a year, it takes forever to wash and even longer to dry, after drying towels always do rinse but it still leaves residue on cloths, I use liquid soap but still leaves white marks

DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Bought this machine just under 3 years ago. 3 months ago a knocking noise started when machine was in spin mode. As the machine came with a 5 year warranty on parts, I contacted the Hotpoint Service Dept. who confirmed that the machine did have a 5 year parts warranty and put me in touch with the local Hotpoint Service Dept. who confirmed that I would have to pay £119.95 labour charge. The engineers inspected the machine & told me the balance weight had broken & torn itself away from the drum and that new parts needed to be ordered. The engineers have told me that they have no idea when the new drum will arrive as the dates received from Hotpoint keep changing. 3 months have now passed and still no parts. I have contacted Hotpoint direct and they do not want to do anything to help. The Hotpoint service is none existent, don't be fooled by this 5 year parts warranty. It is a joke. Do not buy any Hotpoint products unless you want to be treated the way I have been.

Buying was an expensive mistake!!!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This machine has broken after 14 months of very little use. Hotpoint says it will cost £137 to fix, so will buy another new machine (non-Hotpoint).

Useless at drying
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I looked this up on Amazon as this is the washer/dryer that is in my new rented flat. I wanted to see if anyone else thought the same as me ie. that this is a USELESS machine. It takes absolutely ages to dry anything in it. I tried to dry two bath sheets and two hand towels (so, a very small load). I gave up after three hours and put them on the clothes airer.COMPLETELY USELESS

Be warned.

Appalling machine. Waiting hours for clothes to dry. Completely useless. 3 weeks out of the year warranty, the lock decided to fail. The manual override didn't work either so now my clothes are stuck inside the machine. 54 weeks old and it has failed. Absysmal customer service can't send anyone out for a week and will change me £110. Needless to say I will never use this useless company again.

Avoid this product - Slow and smelly washing machine which does not dry clothes
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

My old yet trusty washing machine was giving up and so it was time to replace her with a newer model. With two young boys in the flat and with no great space to dry clothes, we elected for a washer dryer. This one appeared to be a good deal and my Mother would always swear by Hotpoint. After receiving the Washer Dryer, reading the instructions and getting it plumbed in we ran the maintenance wash (which seemed to take forever) and got the machine loaded up to start on the mountain of dirty clothes which had accumulated over the preceeding few days. All seemed to be going well until the drying cycle started. The smell which permeated throughout the entire house was unbearable. Like melting plastic, but with a much more chemical hint to it.We assumed that this was simply due to a coating which had been applied or leftover chemical used in the manufacturing process. Happy to continue in the belief that the smell would fade, we continued on using this machine. It wasn't overly long before we started to notice that the clothes were coming out of the machine with the same dirty marks that they had when they went in, resulting in them haivng to be washed again and again.Experimenting with different wash settings made little difference. The 45 minute 'Ready to Wear' wash is rather good on the condition that you don't mind wearing wet clothes and are happy that they clothes smell worse than they did before being put in the machine.5 months on, nothing has changed. The chemical smell from the dryer is still there. We decided to call Hotpoint. Their response was to say they couldn't do anything unless we purchased an upgraded warranty. They also offered to sell us a sachet of cleaner to run through a maintenance wash.We are contacting the vendor to arrange the return of this waste of money.
