Disappointed with poor temperature control
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I chose to buy this iron based on it being made by a well-known brand. However I was very disappointed. I usually steam ironed most garments with my previous iron where steam could be selected at temperature 2 spot, but I have found that this iron only has steam functionality for temperature 3 spot. Since very few materials can be ironed at 3 spot, I'm now having to dry iron most things which is not what I wish to do. And I'm even finding that the 2 spot setting feels too high for some items labelled 2 spot, so having to turn down to 1 spot. In summary the temperature control is very poor. Also the cord is about 30cm shorter than on my old iron, so it doesn't really reach far enough.Update. Almost 5 weeks after purchasing this iron, the 3-pin plug came apart into 2 halves. I found a broken piece of plastic inside which meant I was unable to repair the plug myself, as this bit was integral to holding it together. However I was pleased that Amazon agreed to replace the product as this was just outside the usual 30-day replacement window. Unfortunately still experiencing the issues identified above with the replacement iron.

Heat selector dial wouldn't go all the way to max.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The front selector dial on the iron I received didn't turn all the way round to maximum, so I returned it for a refund.

I really like this iron and am very happy with it. It is a little light, but glides nicely over the clothes and produces a good amount of steam. My husband realised doesn't like it. He says the steam button is in the wrong place and makes his thumb ache after a lot of use. Don't know if it's relevant but I'm left handed and he is right handed.

Worrying switch
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This model seems to be an improved version of the steam glide, being very similar in all aspects except the control dial. On the steam glide it was on the water tank under the handle and was easily knocked, altering the setting. On this new supreme steam the control is on the front and not liable to be caught, however I find it extremely stiff to alter on to steam clean setting, in fact it feels as if it may break in the not too distant future.Apart from its switching control the iron itself performs well, is light and easy to handle and looks good.Unfortunately the stiff switch is a worry and I would be inclined to purchase a different model

As a big fan of Russell Hobbs' irons, I will start with the positives. All iron manufacturers should take note of the 9ft 6ins (2m 90cms) cord length. It gives excellent options to iron whilst watching TV rather than hemmed in to the nearest socket. It allows ironing along the full length of the board without dragging the plug out.The iron is simple in design and easy to use with a big pulse of steam if needed and there is my first concern. Even ordinary use requires this extra boost on the cotton items. The iron feels very light in the hand. So light that I felt myself pressing down to get rid of the creases. This required tiresome extra effort. It has also been priced in the mid-thirties range. The market in irons is massively over-supplied both between competitors and within the Russell Hobbs range. This allows reviewers to be picky and there is much better value to be had within Russell Hobbs' own stable.UPDATEStopped working after just under a year.

Bulky design, short cord
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This iron is an okay fall back, but for heavy use it gets a bit bulky and frustrating that some of the features aren't as modern as you'd perhaps expect. The cord seems shorter than previous similar irons and I've struggled to keep track on the water levels but in fairness to the brand, I do struggle with my eyesight and as the water section is coloured plastic it's not as visible to check the water line.In all honesty I think you can get a better quality product in the same price range

Adequate rather than brilliant......

Russell Hobbs 23041 Supreme Steam Traditional IronThis is a very nice iron, but with some oddities.A block shape, I feel, is not good, as the Iron will not sit flat upright on the Ironing board and it falls over if the cable is not straight out behind it.It does however come with a filler cup for 100ml, but it will take 3 times of filling the cup to fill the Iron, as you cannot put it under the tap like most irons these days. The cable is relatively short too and I had to use an extension lead from the plug socket. It has a simple wheeled dial to choose the setting and a shot of steam button and a spray button and the steam generated is good and it does do a good job, but it is too light in weight for me.It would make a good starter Iron and would be useful for Students, who want something powerful, but, they might find it fiddly to fill.Overall a good Iron, but too light for this Lady and slows me down with the constant filling.I would give this Iron 3 out of 5.

NOTHING SPECIAL, YET VALUE FOR MONEY.

This is for my niece when she goes off to university. It is ideal for the single person who may aim to do a weekly iron. The features are standard to almost all similar priced units. And with so many makes offering similar units then this will not stand out, but it does feature the name RUSSELL HOBBS.

Worth considering, irons smoothly, but a couple of design flaws let it down for me
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Nice iron. The nose is narrowed to make it easier to do between buttons. It comes with a little jug for filling the water reservoir. The jug is necessary because the shape of the filling spout would make it difficult to fill from the tap without getting water everywhere. This would not be a problem if it were not for the fact that the jug is nowhere near big enough and needs filling three times in order to fill the iron to capacity. Irritating, when a slightly larger jug could have been included that had the same capacity as the iron – which is not great.Flex length is approximately 8’2” which is adequate. The iron has the usual features of water spray, steam boost and self-clean button. The temperature control is set on the front of the handle and encounters some odd resistance about half way round, regardless of which direction it is being moved in. Another Russell Hobbs iron I tested with a similar design is exactly the same so I can only conclude it is a ‘feature’. I don’t like the temperature control – it seems cheap.Still the iron works. It glides smoothly over my shirts and removes creases effortlessly, which, after all, is what we want.My last niggle, the shape of the body means it’s difficult to wrap the flex around it to put the iron away when it has cooled down. I really don’ want an iron with an untidy heap of flex in my cupboard taking up more room than it needs to.My annoyances with this are minor. The flex is long enough, and it does the job of ironing as well as I need it to, so it is probably worthy of consideration – though I would check out Phillips range of irons. They don’t have jugs, but you can wrap the flex round them when you’ve finished.

Dud. Bad design.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This iron looks quite stylish, in purple and white, but its looks are the only good thing about it.The controls are all in dark purple, with raised symbols, which are very difficult to read or interpret. It's also quite hard to make out the water level in its semi-transparent (purple!) reservoir. On the model I got, the thermostat knob won't turn up as far as "steam". Russell Hobbs helpline (who take a long time answering) suggests returning it via Amazon. I don't know if this fault is only on this one or a general design fault, but I can't recommend this model at all

Adequate.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

As irons go, this isn't half bad. It is serviceable enough and does what it's supposed to do. However there have been occasions where, when using it, I've noticed that the water leaked out and I had to go over it several times to dry it. Other than that it's a good iron if you're looking for a cheaper alternative.
