Had a Brabantia iron before which was very good so Ihad no reason not to purchase another one which is equally as good
AvrilIrons are not something we really crave an extravagant version of - As long as they do the trick (as in remove creases from clothes and make them presentable) then as far as we're concerned we're happy. And this Brabantia iron is no different. It does a good job on clothing and does exactly what it says on the tin, and the use of steam to eradicate those tricky creases and bumps works well, whatever the type of fabric.I would recommend this iron with no caveats, it won't cause any discernable impact on your bank balance and your clothes will be sartorially "with it".
Brady OrmeWe needed a new iron as our previous one, an Easy2Fill, had turned into an Easy2Spill. The colour was of little interest but might be useful if you like everything co-ordinated. If so, this particular item is a funky sort of purple.Looking closely before using, there seemed to be an extra blob of purple plastic on the surrounding area, and the finish imperfection didn't fill me with confidence. My wife used it first, and reported that it didn't seem to heat up at all well. When my turn came, I followed the brief instruction booklet to the letter and found the heat more than adequate. The iron feels very light compared to most recent irons. This meant I felt I needed to apply more downward pressure on the iron to take out creases, though perhaps I was wrong. I needed to learn the angle of the spray, but it worked fine when necessary. My wife has reverted to the previous leaky iron, so she's given her verdict on this item. I think it is perfectly acceptable but might not be to everyone's taste.
S. JonesI've been trialling this iron for a little under a month and compared it to both Philips and Morphy Richards irons selling at a similar price point.I agree with several other reviewers that the overall design go the iron is a little 'too pink', the iron itself though feels 'ok' when using but not as sturdy as my Philips Azure. The ceramic base plate performs well on my work shirts and trousers, and handles heavy denim reasonably well. The steam discharge is good and gets through stubborn creases with ease. As with most irons at this price I'd only recommend for the smaller ironing load; larger family loads are better off using a steam generator to avoid continually having to refill the water reservoir.I feel a realistic price for this iron would be between £30 - £35 as there are similar spec iron to this by other manufacturers selling at this price on Amazon.
Ian WantlingFor a very long time I've used Philips irons, currently an Azure, so I've done this review partly in comparison to that. This feels a touch heavier in the hand, but is comfortable in use. All of the controls are handily placed so that you can easily adjust the heat and steam. By contrast, the Philips handles steam automatically (not always successful) and the heat setting isn't so easy to see.The Brabantia seems to have a slightly wider base plate but it isn't as slippery smooth as the Philips. Not to say id dragged at all on my clothes but I wonder how it would do on say a low heat setting and delicate fabrics (yet to pluck up courage to risk that one). One big niggle which is actually true of most modern appliances is that the cable ought to be just a little longer. The wobbly bit where the cable attaches to the iron doesn't move as freely as the Philips one, but that is only a very minor niggle. So the key question - what are the results like? Well my shirts come out crisp and the variable steam (and optional power shot) are a big help. Polycottons haven't been turned shiny or burned.Overall, definitely a good option for everyday use, although I think it is weightier than some competitors and that may be an issue.
The DunelmianSteam irons - they're not cheap if you want a decent one that's going to last. This Brabantia would be on the expensive side for what it is but the Amazon price puts it at a midrange price. Does that make it a bargain? Well no, it doesn't - because you can tell it has been built on the cheap.
Functionally it does what it says on the tin, with the normal range of heat settings and steam control. However the product has quite a cheap feel to it. The ceramic plate is of lesser quality than my old Tefal which cost about the same as this iron’s list price, the plastic feels brittle and the controls don’t feel all that solid. And it has the smallest water jug I've ever seen...
Yes this iron works well but overall I'm left with the impression that it isn't going to last long, simply because it looks and feels like it was built on the cheap. Don’t get me wrong - its not a bad iron at the price - but it isn’t a great one.

Mr. P. HAIGHThis is a great iron. I found it to be smooth and effortless to use. I like the colours and I found the weight to be just about right. It coped with any ironing job I threw at it from cottons to linens. It certainly does what it is meant to and I would highly recommend.
Wendy JonesPut this through its pace in a marathon ironing session. The good things. It has a decent length cable. It heats up very quickly due to the 2600w capacity. The results, using the steam facility, were generally pretty good.
The minor issues which mean I can only give it four stars are 1. the dial needs to point to the arrow towards the rear of the iron (which in my experience is a bit unusual) 2. The jug supplied for filling the water reservoir is ridiculously small. If you use it to fill the reservoir you will need four visits to the tap (and tap water is essential they say as other waters mess up the cleaning feature).
But the biggest issue for me is that the pretty colours are used on the water reservoir - and this makes it very difficult, bordering on the impossible to see the water level as you fill the reservoir. I wish they would leave it as clear plastic.

Dr VennThis is a no-frills iron, does the job but nothing spectacular.First off, the build quality is good and the iron is not too heavy which is important for large loads. The cable is a good length, a simple but important consideration. The iron heats up quickly, temperature settings easy to understand and control, and does the job fine.So why 4 stars? For a similar price I have had irons which have just been that bit better in terms of features and glide across clothes. A good iron but not a great iron
ToastLight-weight, but efficient, this iron provides a smooth gliding motion which makes a pleasure out of a chore. And because you can choose the temperature setting, the iron can get very hot indeed, making ironing a quick job. Instant replacement for our brand new Philips, which supposedly regulates its own temperature, but never gets hot enough to iron jeans and so on. A traditional, classic version of a steam iron such as this one can't go wrong.
CoraCompared to some irons you can get these days this one is pretty basic. No overly complicated settings or promises. Just plug in and get nice wrinkle free ironing. Not too heavy. Lead a decent length although I'd have preferred a touch longer it's good for a basic iron. The only thing I can see being an issue is just dots for the heat settings rather than suggestions for which fabrics. If you're not a fabric aficionado I could see you scorching stuff by accident. Not one to buy if you've a novice ironer in the house then! Decent enough for a budget iron though.
RachelPros:+ It works very well and is nice and lightweight+ Produces a nice amount of steam, and you can adjust how you apply it+ Holds a good amount of water (300ml), and comes with a cup for filling+ It apparently has anti-calc, meaning it should last longer without calcium build up in the tank (only time will tell)Cons- The cable is too short for me, meaning I've got to be standing closer to the plug than I would like
JoshuaDidn't know Brabantia did electrical appliances.
This is a really nice looking iron. I love the purple cord, I'm shallow that way. Its about 2 metres long which is fine if you can get close up to a socket, otherwise you're going to have to plug into an extension.
As I mentioned, this is a great looking iron, love the colour. It's a bit big and heavy especially when filled for steam. I have arthritis and my wrists sometimes ache and need support as they have recently, and even though this iron did a superb job I found it too heavy to do more than a couple of items without aching rather a lot. It will suit most people, it is a very good steam iron, but if you have great piles of ironing and any difficulties at all with wrist strength then maybe choose something smaller and lighter.
This is a decent iron, well built and designed but is quite overpriced
Pros:
nice design
- light and easy to use
- very effective at ironing out creases effortlessly
- well built and feels quite premium
- feels quite durable and that it will last for a good few years
The cons:
- Quite expensive for what you get
- water tank is quite small so needs refilling often
Overall, a very good iron but other brands offer more features for the same if not less

NWEThis is a perfect started iron, perfect for a new home, or a student. It's very light weight to carry or travel around with (if you absolutely have to). It's grip is great and allows good control for edging and folded or delicate fabrics. The time to warm was around 2 minutes, and we were steaming away happily at 3. The direct steam was good, but you have to pause on dense materialThe colour might be a little off-putting, but it's really a funky young iron, for a boring mundane task.I'd not hesitate to add Brabantia to my "goto" brand list, and I can't wait to show my mother-in-law the iron, as she loves lighter units for her arthritis.
J. BondI don't like writing four star reviews - I like clear cut love it or hate it one or five star reviews, but this is a great iron let down by poor quality cosmetic detailing:The sole plate is great, the ceramic coating well applied and neat, and then it's wrapped around with a silver painted trim with dreadful levels of flash, sink, and paint inclusion. It looks awful, The upper mouldings have excessive flash and the steam selector is sticky in operation. The temperature controller is just plain nasty. The cable strain relief is a joke. The moulding is all over the place. How this got released for production is beyond me.But it gives really good results. Really really good results. Easy to handle, easy steam control, nice crisp creases in one pass, cable not too short. I recommend it for this alone, and suggest Brabantia raise their game vis a vis cosmetic finish which does not do justice to the performance of the product. My first impression on opening the box was two stars because it looks so unfinished, but it performs so well it deserves consideration.
