I was expecting more for the price...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is pretty much a ‘no frills’ standard iron, without any of the bells and whistles usually found on irons at this price point.Performance wise, it works as it should and gets the job done, but not in a way that makes it stand out from other similar priced irons. Build quality is good and the ceramic plate makes swift work of my shirts, but the colour scheme is a tad garish for my liking. The lack of an auto off function has been highlighted by a number of other reviews, and certainly if this is something you’re used to then the Brabantia may disappoint, but I do my ironing in a single sitting, so its personally not a deal breaker for me.All in all the BBEL1005 delivers as it should but there are cheaper products out there which are equally, if not more, capable.

Good, simple and functional iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

You can go as complicated as you want with irons these days. This Brabantia steam iron is refreshingly light on the bells and whistles that you can get elsewhere. That's not necessarily a complaint either. This model is perfect for those who just want to quickly iron their clothes to a good standard.Easy to operate straight from the box and easy to fill with water. The steam functions are simple to set and use as well. The finish on clothes is generally good too.The one drawback is the lack of an automatic switch off function, which is a fairly standard feature of most irons these days.

New brand does OK, but only OK.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Sitting at the top of this new iron range, and priced accordingly, this is a competent budget plus iron with all the features you would expect from a slightly premium steam iron. The soleplate is a ceramic type, but it lacks an auto-off function.

Steam output is like every other iron at this pricepoint, but I would argue that at nearly 3kW, it is no better in terms of output than some others rated nearly 1kw less in terms of power consumption. If you iron daily, this will add up.

Other than that, it's well enough made and surprisingly light - although it looks like this was as much deliberate as to do with cost cutting. Makes a change from other 'all in the body' super steam models I've reviewed. The cord was nearly 2m so long enough for my needs, which a recently reviewed iron wasn't.

However, overall I would say, 'nice try Brabantia' but Bosch and Philips have the market covered better and cheaper.

heavy at base but did a good job
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This iron was quite heavy at the base so anyone with weak wrists will struggle to lift it. It warmed up very quickly and was easy to use. The colour was very pretty but I found that the wire connection at the base of the iron wanted to turn itself the wrong way in which I was ironing meaning that the cable kept getting in the way

Nice but not as safe as it could be.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I struggled to pick a star rating for this because essentially it is a very good iron. The long cord is essential with many plug sockets being too far away and me being left handed and stand the wrong way round.

It irons pretty much as well as you can get if not using a steam generator.

One big fail though is no auto shut off. Many irons have this and with having a child in the house I simply can't recommend something without this feature. As this is for me a safety feature I would give one star it it wasn't otherwise so good.

Not bad
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Light-weight basic Iron that performs very well. The temperature dial runs from min, I, II, III, and max. It automatically generates steam when the temperature dial is set to between III mark and max (there is actually a steam symbol between the two settings). You also have to set the switch on top to any of the variable steam setting and away from the dry-iron setting. I had set the temperature to auto steam but by default the switch on top was set to no steam so I was wondering why no steam was being released. Once I moved it to the maximum steam setting, the Iron hissed happily as it released steam. I got good results on Jeans and some cotton nurse uniform though it is not very efficient on deep creases. I got rid of them by spraying with water. I have a Philips 2200W, just like this one. The Philips performs better in terms of steam and the gliding is much smoother, yet cheaper than this Iron and has auto off. However this Iron is much lighter and is putting water in the tank is much easier because it comes with its own cup, shaped to deliver water without spilling it on the Iron. They need to add Auto off because if you forget this connected and face down, you get a fire. Auto off now comes as standard even on Pressing Irons costing less than £20.This is a 3 star Iron.
