Never had a camera die before
R. G. OliverAfter weeks of research and playing with sample raw files I decided to go for the xt3 as a replacement for my full frame Nikon gear. The camera arrived promptly and I had a play in the menus setting it all up. Was very excited to get out shooting the following day but my excitement was ruined by the fact the camera kept locking up. Only a battery pull would reset it. I took to Google only to find several others had reported this locking up issue and the solution was to upgrade the firmware to the latest version....... Which I then proceeded to do. Great, I'm back in the game then........ But then more of the same locking up ensued. I eventually decided I wasn't going to drop £1700 on an unreliable camera, no matter how damn impressive the specs on it were. Sent it back for a refund. In all fairness I'll probably re-buy it as and when Fuji sort out the issue but until then I'll have to keep lugging my heavy Nikon gear around.
PaulIf you're interested, think seriously about one of the slightly older models. The reviews online overstate the improvements vs. the last generation (X-T2 and X-Pro2). The T2 and Pro2 were much upgraded in their lifespans through firmware updates and these are better than the early reviews for those products. There are differences in focussing and some additional video features (if you use those) but there are no practical improvements in image quality except at the extremes of ISO. I thought it was a disappointing update and not enough to call it a full version upgrade. Not a worthwhile upgrade if you have a T2.Good camera but marked down to temper expectations.
