Accurate but cheap finish
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Very accurate and easy to use. The plastic finish looks and feels cheap as though it will scratch easily.

Very nice kit
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Nice sleek design which overcomes the problem of visibility when using large containers. Numerals are very easy to read. Particularly like the use of AAA batteries instead of cell type. Touch controls are sensitive but not excessively so.This replaces an old 'aquatronic' on which the button cover membrane had broken up (old age !) - It is a lot better for ease of cleaning.

I am very pleased with these scales, they are of good quality and so easy to use, I barely have to touch the on/off button which is a blessing after having press button scales for years, both are by Salter.

Large & user-friendly kitchen scales
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

There’s a lot to like about these kitchen scales from Salter, not least is their design simplicity and ease of use right out of the box. The scales come with 2 AAA batteries provided – great – and all that is required is for you to insert them into the battery slots at the back and then the scales are ready to use. There are no raised buttons; the scales are designed with just a single smooth surface which is excellent for wiping clean. To switch the scales on simply press ‘zero’ and to switch units between g/lb/ml/fl.oz simply press ‘unit’. Easy as that.I like the fact that the scales weigh up to 6kg (13lb) which is a substantial amount; and also that they can weigh in increments as small as 1g (1/8oz). You can also add ingredients using the ‘add & weigh function’ by pressing ‘zero’ whilst the bowl is on the scales and continue adding ingredients and resetting the weight to zero indefinitely. They will automatically switch off after the display reads 0 for 1 minute, or you can manually switch off by pressing ‘zero’ for a couple of seconds. The display is large and easy to read and the size of the scales, W x 22cm; H x 25cm (approximately as they are rounded in design) means that large bowls or pans are accommodated and the display is still visible. My black ones do seem to show up dust quickly, but are so easy to wipe clean that this isn’t really a negative point.I am surprised at how lightweight the scales are, and although they do not feel poorly made by any means, they seem a little less substantial than the well-worn glass ones I have been using for some time. Nevertheless, they are user-friendly, accurate, easily cleaned, and look smart and will certainly be a welcome addition to any kitchen.Note: Scales also come with a 15 year guarantee (with proof of purchase) against defective workmanship and materials.

Bigger than average, clear display and looks good - Recommended
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a bigger than average kitchen scale that also has the capacity to weigh up to 6kg, or the equivalent in pounds and ounces as well as mls, The platform is large meaning that it can accommodate a good size pan or bowl, and the display with its dark background and bright numbers is clear and easy to read. There is a Tare button which means you can add an ingredient then return the display to 0 before adding the next ingredient. The scale turns off automatically after a short period of time but you can also turn it off manually using the power button. Unusually, this scale takes AAA batteries rather than the smaller cell batteries which are a bit easier to find when you need a replacement. There are some in the box to start you off with which is good. The shiny black plastic finish is easy to wipe clean and looks good in my kitchen. We've reviewed several Salter scales recently, and the general consensus amongst the keen chefs in the family (there are several) is that this one is the best.

A great set of scales
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I was happy enough with our old Salter scales, but these are a definite improvement. In spite of being a lot bigger, they're much lighter. They do have a slightly cheap plastic feel rather than the heavier metal scales but I don't mind that. The best thing is how easy it is to read the measurement when you've got quite a large bowl on top of it. It's particularly good for cooking with kids as they can see the numbers really clearly. The on/off button is a bit oversensitive and can be slightly annoying but it's not a huge deal. I like how easy it is to switch between grams/ounces etc and that they wipe clean easily. Makes a refreshing change that they come with batteries too. Recommended.

Weighing it up
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This scale is really easy to use, and best of all, takes two AAA batteries. I have had digital scales in the past that used the flat watch batteries, and finding them was a nightmare. The display is very clear and you can add multiple ingredients to a mixing bowl, just need to zero it each time. You can even measure liquids. The scale is small and can be stored away easily. And as it is digital, it is a lot more accurate than the old fashioned dial scales.

Good set of accurate scales for weighing up to 6kg...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Good for measuring up to 6kg of baking ingredients and the reset button allows you to zero the scales each time you add another ingredient. Large base to enable you to use quite large bowls and still be able to see the display. Good accuracy; +/- 5g on my usage, with known weights. Modern and stylish sleek black glass finish, however, this surface does mark very easily and after only a few days of using has a number of fine scratches where ceramic mixing bowls have scored the surface. Using the buttons on the front you can cycle through different weighing options imperial and metric. Nice set of accurate Salter scales.

A good set of scales.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

These scales are surprisingly light, slightly larger than the other digital scales that I have and so well suited to weighing out ingredients in larger bowls. You can measure weights in various scales including fluid ounces, although I usually only use metric nowadays and the scale looks quite stylish. It seems accurate and the digital readout is large and clear, turning on and off at the push of a button. For mixed quantities you can re-set the scale to zero, All-in-all a good set of scales that comes with AAA batteries supplied.

A sleek and slender scale - excellent!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Sleek and slender. Easy to store as thin and lightweight. Good size read out which is clear.Just two controls – a zero button and one to change the units measuring – imperial, metric weight (pounds and ounces or grams) or imperial and metric volume (fluid ounces and millilitres). The use of the “zero” button allows more items to Be added to a bowl by resetting the “zero” point.I tested it by using a differing numbers of books and then adding a pencil (9 grams weight!) Kept giving the same readings. So looks as if accurate. This replaces a much older digital scale which was bulky and quickly used up the batteries. This is a far superior product. The only thing I do not know is battery life on this product but they are AAA size which are readily available.Highly recommended.

Weigh, weigh better than my old set of scales.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

With a nice large surface area to place your ingredients or mixing bowl, a large easy to read display (even when a large bowl is in place) two simple touch (very) sensitive buttons for on/off & zeroing the quantity as well as changing the unit the Salter 6KG capacity scales are worthy of any kitchen. Underneath are 4x small rubberised feet to protect your work surface and a compartment to place the 2x supplied AAA batteries. A large gloss black weighing surface isn't going to appear as clean as a matt or white surface as it shows all marks & finger prints easily - if left out in a kitchen then this may annoy after a while. All in all great value, nicely styled & practical to use.

Excellent scales, very accurate
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

These scales look really attractive – much more designer than our current, rather anonymous brushed steel scales. My wife, as the one using them more, was very impressed:“They’re a lot bigger than my current scales, but this is probably a plus, as it’s easier to see the display if you’re using a larger bowl. The external design is very good – the top is black and easy to wipe clean. The top is totally smooth, so there are no little crevices to allow any build-up of spilt flour, milk etc (unlike many other designs). The little feet on the bottom are designed to be non slip, which is good.It has big black buttons to press with all the measurements I am likely to use - pounds and ounces, grams, fluid ounces and millilitres. It measures down to 1/8th of an ounce, which is very impressive, but I’m not sure Il need that level of precision. At the other extreme, the fact that it measures up to 6kg means it can weigh any amount except for industrial quantities. The numbers are big and fairly easy to see, although the display is quite faint. If you do a lot of baking you’ll love these scales; you can tare after adding any ingredients, so you don't have to use additional jugs and bowls to weigh out separate amounts. It turns itself off after a minute so you wont have to remember to, a good thing in my house.I like the fact that it has proper batteries and not those silly button ones, which I can never find in my kitchen drawer - most of us have spare cylindrical ones around the place. It takes 2 AAA batteries; the battery compartment lid is easily removable, and you don't need a screwdriver to get it off.”NB the pack includes two AAA batteries to get you started.

Easy to use but not so accurate
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

We tried these scales against my older Salter scales and also used packets like butter to double check the accuracy. One of the good things about these scales is that they weigh up to 6 Kg and have a large base which makes them great for baking and measuring large quantities. They are very easy to use, just put in the batteries and away you go. You place a bowl onto the scales then just add in the ingredients. The scales weigh in both imperial and metric and best of all is the reset mode which enables you to add ingredients and reseting to zero each time.Or you can total up your ingredients and just keep going.I have an older version of these by Salter and can say they have been faultless for over five years, surviving even being dropped (ouch) on the floor twice.I don't know if this newer model will be as tough and I hope I don't find out.I have checked the weighing of these scales against the older ones and by packets with the weight on. All good. The machine automatically turns itself off if not used for a couple of minutes. The only thing I am not 100% in love with is the shiny plastic look. My other scales are matt white with the middle weighing part silver chrome. But looks re not too important to me and what is best is the accuracy of the measuring.

Salter Kitchen Scales.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

These Salter Kitchen scales are a sleek little bit of Kitchenware. The first thing I noticed out of the box is how light this is compared to my old clunky kitchen scales. The surface is a sleek, black mirrored surface and there are no raised buttons to push or for food to get caught in. This has two integrated buttons, one to Zero the scales and another to change the units. If you hold the Zero button for a couple of seconds it will turn the scales off, otherwise they turn themselves off after use. This is very easy to use and happily for me these use AAA batteries. My old scales use Lithium batteries which gets VERY expensive, very quickly.Overall this does the job well, looks great and is something you will use everyday. Highly recommended.Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.
