KaraA Chrome kitchen scale with no scratchproofing? Well if you bought this for the aesthetics you're likely to be disappointed because though the shape of this thing / design is really nice and modern and attractive, it's made out of the world's most scratchable material (cheap chrome). Stainless steel would've cost more I guess.ANYWAY we bought this as a replacement for our previous set of Salter kitchen scales, and using it couldn't really be easier. It does all the usual measurement types (including fl which is really useful) and does all the usual 'add in' weighing etc. We tend to do a lot of baking where we measure straight from the mixing bowl - so you can imagine what a pottery mixing bowl's base does to the surface of a scratchable piece of chrome.Accuracy - we measured this against other scales and it's bang on, no problems with that at all. Sometimes found it a bit 'twitchy' to zero the counter and get it bang on zero (every little movement sets this thing off so use a steady hand and don't buy it your for OAP parents if they've got Parkinsons!)Overall, it's all about the looks baby. If you want a set of scales to put in your newly fitted kitchen and just look at (and you're one of the rare folk who manages to get one of these delivered without a few scratches on it already - despite ours being sealed it had one scratch on it straight out of the box) then you'll likely find this extremely good value for money.Q: How do you weigh a whale with this thing?A: Take it to the Whale Weigh Station

There is nothing more frustrating than when trying to measure anything it disappears off the screne. This is a big 'plus' .The only drawback I found was that I couldn't use them straight away as you need a very small 'jewler's screwdriver' to get the battery compartment off to remove the plastic that covers the battery, this was really frustrating, it took me hours, I searched everywhere to find a minute driver but eventually good old 'Poundland' came up trumps. Frustrating to say the least, but am very happy with them.

New scales which replace my granny old ones which date back to the 60s! Liked them for accuracy, lightweight, easy cleaning and adding/weighing ingredients together in the one bowl on the scales. However, keeping my old ones for back-up.
