I'm impressed Breville....
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I'm a bit of an iron fiend. After paying an extortionate amount for my last iron, for it then to only last 14 months, I decided to try a mid-priced one, and found the Breville Diamond XPress. And, I'm seriously impressed. It not only looks stylish, the iron has:An extra long cable, I didn't even need my usual extension leadA great large sole plate, gliding smoothly over all fabricsPowerful steam function, meaning I got things done in half the timeEasy to fill/empty water reservoir, it takes a good amount of water and didn't need re filling every two minutesA safety strip which shows you when the iron is cool enough to touch/put awayA good range of temperature and stream optionsOne thing to note...I prefer a heavy iron, as I think it helps the process, but those who prefer a lighter appliance might find this model a bit hefty for their liking. It is heavier than my last model, but on fabric you just don't notice as it glides with ease.Well done Breville.

Damaged items
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have received two of these items from amazon both showing the wires where the sole plate does not meet the top part, given that this is a steam iron and water will get into the main body I was advised not to use the iron and return them as they were not safe and fit for purpose. I do not know if the items were damaged and I was just unlucky but if there is a gap between the sole plate and the top part then the iron should not be used

Second iron broke in a space of a few weeks! Don't buy.

Bought the iron, steam button broke. Got replacement, it broke again. Fuming! How difficult is it to make an iron that does not break? It's not a space rocket, for goodness sake!

This product is absolutely great, apart from the one we got kept leaking water from the steam vents. It would leave big blobs of water over the clothes, splashing out from the front when changing direction of the iron. It then started leaving puddles underneath itself when stored in an upright position, so when have returned it. Possibly it faulty, seemed to be more than one of the steam vents causing the issue so it might also be a design fault.

A good iron. Almost 5 stars.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I bought this iron after reading the reviews. The iron is very good. I have been a member of the British Army in the past, and a good iron is essential when getting ready for inspection. The iron is very good, but for my large hands it is easy to alter the temperature setting when lifting the iron. It does carry out its function well in use, and the long power cord is very good. I was surprised that it doesn't come with a filling jug, but it has a large opening for filling the water tank.If the temperature dial were a little tighter it would get 5 stars.

What can I say, I researched irons until I was blue in the face, and this one came up trumps every time. I was sceptical because it wasn't expensive but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. No it doesn't make puddings, it's an expression.

DELIGHTED!!!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is not normally my style, I'm a private person ...BUT...I am delighted with this iron.Yes, like most of us I try to reduce the ironing pile as much as possible for several reasons with my primary one being I have arthritis - OA, RA & Psoriac which in my case seriously affects my hands. So when I finally recycled my beloved Steam Generator to my son & daughter-in-law, not because it wasn't giving an excellent result but because I couldn't lift it without as least one drop on the floor, which of course was dangerous in many ways. The result of this decision was a heavy research session for it's replacement. I read, I bought, I took back, had heated disputes and then up popped this iron.I ordered it, received in in two days, lifted, twiddled and filled it with water, and that was all before I introduced it to the ironing board! That union being established I brought in the trousers and blouses....it didn't hiss and spit so I switched on the tv and produced some master-pieces of ironing excellence.Basically, it's fab my new best friend, top marks!!

Reasonable economy iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

It's a small iron so inevitably smaller sole plate which means more arm work and a smaller water reservoir which needs filling more often.

This is a small iron so inevitably it has a smaller sole plate, which means more arm work and a smaller water reservoir which needs filling more often. The iron heats up quickly but is slow to start pumping steam again after setting on end. You find you've run it over half a t-shirt before the steam restarts and you have to go back over your work.

I didn't find it stuck on high settings, which is good. Nor did it drip on lower settings. However, the temperature dial is calibrated against a raised line in the plastic moulding, difficult to see as it's purple and tucked under the handle - some way of picking it out in white would definitely help!

Overall, a reasonable economy iron - ideal for someone who doesn't have too much laundry to iron, maybe ideal for a single person, a weekend cottage or a student in halls of residence.

Not so hot...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This iron is fine for the money and does what it's meant to do. However, it is pretty basic and if you're looking for fancy features, look elsewhere. There is no auto-adjustment of temperature and it will catch on clothes if you're not careful (which is less of an issue with more expensive irons). Maybe worth buying as a spare or travel iron but it's hard to think this would do well as a large family's main iron. I guess it proves that you generally get what you pay for.

A safe bet at the price
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

We’ve reviewed quite a few irons in the past year, which has given us the opportunity to compare and contrast them. This one from Breville sits at the budget end, but still offers some reasonable features. It is 2200 watt, which is plenty for everyday ironing. The Braun TexStyle 7 pro iron is much more expensive but offers just an extra 400 watts. Comparing the same two irons for steam, this one gives 120g while the Braun gives 225g. 120g is not enough if you plan to do a lot of steam ironing.

In use, the iron warms up quickly, and has a safe-temperature indicator on the side, so you know when it’s cool enough to put away after use. In every other respect it is a conventional iron with temperature dial and steam, button; fairly light to manoeuvre on the iron board, and with a reasonable length of flex. It comes with a little plastic water jug for filling the steam reservoir. It’s got “MAX” written on it in letters so big we felt obliged to called the jug Max.

The one worrying thing is the gap between the sole plate and the body of the iron, through which one can see the electrical wiring. While I assume it’s all nice and safe, I haven’t noticed that in other irons we’ve tested. For example, the Braun TexStyle sole plate is entirely closed in.
Overall then, a handy iron with standard features at a moderate price. While I still think that you mostly get what you pay for in irons, this one looks like a safe bet for the price.

Bravo Breville
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I'm known as the iron man about these parts so my choice of equipment is, for me, a serious matter. I got this one in exchange for a fair review so here goes:-

My steam generator iron is the real deal, but it does take far too long to "heat up" especially if only ironing a couple of items. This one takes seconds and so I now use it alongside my "generator" on such occasions. Don't be put off by this remark as it is also an excellent tool for larger loads and at under £30 is a fraction of the cost of my more sophisticated steam system.

The metal plate is mirror smoothe and glides effortlessly over all fabrics. It is also fairly light to handle and pleasing on the eye. The tank holds .25 litres and it comes with a handy top up jug. The capacity of .25 litres is normal within this price range, but a higher capacity would be prefered.

The various heat settings are different from my previous irons so they did need a bit of getting used to. After a few trials I now find the settings to be excellent. The spray and steam buttons work and are ideally placed for easy use.

Does it do a good job? Yes it certainly does, smoothing out the worst creases quickly and easily

I have always found Breville appliances to be reliable and this Super Steam Iron appears to be no exception.

Take it from the "iron man", overall this is a very fine iron at a keen price.

A great basic iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a great little iron.
It is quick to heat up, hot enough to deal with even the most stubborn of creases and even tells you when it is safe to put back in the cupboard!
There is a good variation of temperatures enabling the iron to deal with any modern day wardrobe item.
Going against the trend you are even supplied with a filling jug which is good to have.
The lead is a decent length and I can get right to the end of my board with it.
The base plate has a good glide and it is easy to use....its a great basic iron.

A superb, really light, full size iron.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I spent ages reading about irons and their reviews before deciding on this one and I'm delighted to say that I've made the correct decision. It's a superb iron. A real plus point is its lightness, yet it is full size. It's a delight to use.Breville warn that it heats up very quickly and indeed it does; the maximum heat is greater than I've experienced before so you need to use the temperature control sensibly depending on the material to be ironed. This will avoid any reported 'sticking' or 'burn marks'. I would put that down entirely to operator error. There have been several criticisms about a short cord (it's not particularly), but does no-one have an extension cable? Problem then solved in one go.There are three settings for steam – Off, Low and High. High is good for really creased thick clothes but otherwise Low is fine. However, the tank will be empty after six shirts. This is not a problem though because the neat filler (supplied) refills the iron quickly and easily and with no spillage. The lid for the refill hole even has a plug on it to properly seal the tank.I bought this iron in early June for the astonishing price of £22. Amazon must have realised their error for I see it now costs £33, but that is still excellent value for a near perfect iron. I can think of no reason for spending £50 or £100 on an iron while this beautiful model is available.

Ceramic soleplate makes ironing less of a chore and is very easy to fill
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I purchased this iron in January 2016 and I absolutely LOVE it. It produces a good amount of steam and the 180g shot of steam is brilliant for getting stubborn creases out. The 3 metre cable is plenty long enough for my needs and the swivel mechanism saves the cable twisting as you use the iron in different directions. It's also very easy to fill and the smooth non-stick ceramic soleplate makes ironing quick and easy.
