Really good iron well

Excellant love the auto cut off if left standing over 30 secs.makes ironing easy around the buttons and awkward bits.

This Russell Hobbs Stream Iron worked well for a few months. However, it has now become dangerous as water is leaking out and dripping down the cord and so needs to be replaced. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this iron.

The iron arrived yesterday, so thought I would iron this morning. Could not get the iron to heat up, so after about 15 minutes I contacted Russell Hobbs. The lady I spoke to was helpful and she talked me through it all, but the iron still did not heat up. She gave me a reference number and suggested I Contact AMazon to return this iron and get a replacement. Have done this and Amazon were most helpful. The faulty iron is no awaiting collection and my new one will arrive tomorrow. So being optimistic.

I give 3 stars because it’s really with drops, and sometimes the steam doesn’t show and I have to press the bottom for steam, which I don’t know why.

Good steam iron albeit the steam setting is easily knocked to the off setting underneath the handle.

I was really impressed with this iron. It's not too light weight, has easy to use control and a rubber coated handle. The water tank is of a generous size, which for me is an important factor as I invariably have my iron set to permanent steam which speeds up the ironing process.Using the iron is a pleasure, it glides with ease through the most stubborn crease, even denim. Another big plus is having a variable steam control which when set to the lower point is ideal for shirts and tops, and for heavily creased items can be turned up. I haven't (and won't be) testing the 'impact' claim, as I can't recall ever having dropped any iron. Aside from a more expensive and bulky steam generator iron, I doubt you'll be able to find a better performing iron. Recommended.

As irons go, this is a high quality device. There are standard features that you expect nowadays - a flexible cable to stop the cord twisting, a water spray button, a steam button, an LED to display red when the thermostat is heating.The features that make it a high end iron are the nice touches like the rubber grip handle, the tapering point to iron around shirt buttons and specific parts of a garment, and the actual surface of the iron which in the short space of time Ive had the iron and used it shows no trace of marks or scaling.There are two separate dials on the iron. One is temperature control and one is steam control. For me, this is maybe overkill, as other irons Ive used have the temperature control and level of steam in one. But then, if you prefer to iron at higher temperature and have the steam turned off you can with the 2 separate dials, whereas other devices with one dial you couldnt.The iron itself can hold a large amount of water, and has a clear top so you can guage if it requires refilling.Overall a good product and would recommend.

The main selling point of this iron being its ‘impact resistance’, the first thing I did upon receiving the iron was to test just how ‘impact resistant’ it really is. Thus, having dropped it a few times on a piece of board, from heights between about four and six foot, I set about using the iron as usual to find no faults whatsoever after its encounter with the floor.Heating up in just a few minutes, I was surprised by how intuitive this iron is in use. It’s very light, but with just enough weight to feel sturdy enough when pressing clothes. The non-stick ceramic base of the iron really is non-stick, gliding over fabrics with ease, without snagging even once.The controls are fairly easy to figure out, and I’m impressed by the additional features this iron has such as the ability to steam hanging clothes and the auto shut-off element, meaning there’s no risk of accidental fire or damage to clothes. The water tank is comparable in size to most irons, and the lead is long enough to give you plenty of reach with the swiveling joint at the iron end meaning that the lead is never in the way. The tip is perfectly shaped for getting between buttons and I never noticed the iron leaking or dripping while in use.Another useful feature to point out is the self-cleaning function. It’s very easy to use and means one never has to worry about staining clothes with the base of the oven.Overall I’d say it’s the perfect iron for situations where it’s likely to get knocked off the side. It certainly won’t break and due to the auto shut-off it’s not likely to cause any fire damage either. A good, sturdy iron, for those who are looking for something a little tougher.

My husband and I are foster carers and including our children we as a family number eight at present.  On average we wash three full loads every day (we have a 13kg washing machine) so this amounts to a lot of washing, drying, ironing and putting away. A good iron is a necessity.The Russell Hobbs 24650 Impact Iron is a good looking machine in dark blue and black.  It is also fairly light to use … the iron itself weighs a little over 1.27kg.This iron is very quick to start.  Simply plug in, prepare the ironing board and lay out your first garment and you are ready to go.  It really does take only a couple of minutes to heat up.The main reason for purchasing this iron would be for its design … a design that protects the iron from breaking if it falls from the iron board onto a hard floor. A specialised rubber coating absorbs the shock and repels it.This iron is also exceptional at getting difficult creases out of clothes, it works quickly and efficiently. It has the standard temperature controls for linen, jeans, cotton, wool, synthetic and silk. It also has the standard button to press for a quick jet of steam as well as the on all the time steam button.All in all, this is a good iron for everyday use and if it can actually withstand a drop onto a hard floor (I'm loathe to actually deliberately drop the iron in case I break my floor tiles) it will be worth its reasonable high price tag.

This is a good solid iron that is designed to survive if it is dropped although that's not a feature I am going to be testing but I can tell with the amount of rubber on it the claim should be true, whilst its designed to take that type of impact its still not too heavy. The temperature settings are easy so use it has a steam boost button and water spray button also. All round a good iron that deals with the worst of creases with ease.

A really nice steam iron which is resilient to being dropped. It has a nice long flex for a change. It irons nicely around buttons. What impresses me most, is that it is not too heavy.Would make a lively wedding present.

I found this iron to be a little heavy for me but saying that it does make ironing easier. The sole plate glides over garments so easily and with little effort and is none stick. It self cleans, gives off plenty of steam and does not drip. The rubber coating is good idea as it easy to knock the iron off the ironing board accidentally so it is a good feature to have, I have not tried this but its good to know its there.The iron has a long 3m flex .I like the look of the iron, modern and sleek, it is comfortable to hold and easy to use.

This is a very good value, effective, modern and attractive iron. It heats up quickly, creates lots of steam and has a super-smooth sole plate that allows creases to be quickly smoothed out. It is speedy to use and works well. We generally use a Philips "steam generator" iron, but find it cannot cope well with heavily creased clothes; that's where a more traditional iron comes into its own.

This Russell Hobbs steam iron is proving to be an asset. The ceramic sole plate is non stick which is a bonus if you accidentally had it set too hot for a certain type of fabric. The tip of the iron glides in those awkward corners of shirts. The tough rubberised exterior is designed to protect the iron should it fall, but I do not intend trying this, however, it is good to know that it is there.All in all a very good steam iron which can be highly recommended.
