Doesn't heat up as much as my old iron, ...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Doesn't heat up as much as my old iron, so even on full steam and heat, my clothes still have wrinkles in. When the water level is down to half full the regular steam stops working and you have to top up or switch to full steam. It is a bit unstable when resting upright.
I wouldn't buy this again.

I prefer the old style
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Having to replace my old Breville because I dropped it I got the same again. First, I do not like the filling hole. Second, it does not seem to steam as well. Third, where is the level to tell you when you have filled it to the max. ? Fourth, the same filling hole is way to difficuly to open. Want my old one back !

Flimsy and dangerous!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I brought this product a while ago and whenever I use it I bug myself to write this review so here goes. I thought that a Breville product would be good quality. This is not lightweight- its just plastic and flimsy and falls over all the time. Ive lost count of the amount of times I've had to catch it mid fall- just asking for burnt hands. Dangerous around children and pets who could be standing near. Would not recommend this to anyone. Pay a bit more and get a better product.

Pre-used and dented
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The Iron i recieved had water in the tank..... and the hot plate was dented in two places. This is why i have only given 2 stars. Other than this the iron does what it is supposed to.

Good value - but...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I previously had a Breville iron and found it very efficient but unfortunately it would 'trip' the fuse box! Having read previous reviews that stated this didn't happen with a 1800W iron thought would give it a go.Lovely iron, great shape and weight and most importantly does not 'trip the switch'. My only criticism is that it DOES drip despite assurances that it doesn't. I leave the iron to get to the correct temperature before use to try and avoid this issue but to no avail. The first few uses fantastic - no leak but now it does - so having to be extra careful with lighter fabrics. My only other point would be flex length - quite short in length compared to my other breville - wish I had checked this before purchase.

Will do

Everything is in the title: nice design, light weight, cheap, efficient steam and easy to manoeuvre. -2 for the rather annoying water container not holding the water and spilling a bit a water when ironing.

Product Description

Ironing is less of a chore with the Breville VIN143 steam iron. It is 1800 watts (W) and has a stainless steel soleplate which provides a smooth glide through the creased and crumpled clothes so there's no need to work up a sweat when tackling the chore.

A fundamental principle of ironing is the more steam, the better and so the higher the steam ratings of the iron, the better it will be to use. An iron's steam ratings determine how easy it will be to use, how effective and efficient it is and therefore how much time you can save to do other, more exciting things with your time.

The VIN143 has 30 grams (g) of constant steam, also known as steam per minute, which is the amount of steam generated by the iron when in normal use. In addition to this, there is also a shot of steam, specifically 70g for the VIN143. This works as an extra boost to help remove those stubborn creases that refuse to budge or give that added crispness when creating creases on trousers. Completing the trio of essential steam features is the vertical steam function. This allows the iron to be used vertically to steam hanging clothes such as dresses or suits or household fabrics such as curtains, so however difficult, delicate or unwieldy the item, it can be thoroughly and properly ironed with ease.

The Breville VIN143 boasts other handy design features to help you breeze through the work. These include:

  • Anti-drip. Iron at low temperatures without any unwanted drips from the soleplate that can cause ugly, nuisance marks on your clothing and affect performance.
  • Self-clean. A cycle that flushes out impurities from the water via the holes in the soleplate.
  • The iron features a 300 millilitre (ml) water tank so you can store a good amount of water without having to constantly worry about re-filling it and is fitted with a 2 metre (m) cord making it easy to move and handle when in use. It also comes in an attractive design of blue and white.
