It's fine - it does what you need a basic microwave to do. My real gripe is that the twiddly thing that is supposed to hold the Pyrex plate in place as too shallow so any time you put anything in or out you knock it off the thingy and it therefore doesn't rotate or the plate comes out with whatever it is you are taking out of the microwave. It is probably some monumental character flaw in me, but I find that really annoying!
GloriaOf all the microwaves I have ever used or bought this is the worst, as my father would have said this was put together by a blind man on a galloping horse. OK it works as a microwave but: there are gaps on all the corners and the middles are clipped or screwed tight so every surface is curved, it rocks/wobbles on a flat work surface, in use it's noisy and the top surface gets very hot so don't put anything on top of it. I have previously always bought Panasonic because of the quality of the build and no issues/problems with them, but this will be the last Panasonic product I ever buy. If I hadn't needed it I would have sent it straight back.
KIM BAKERThe painted steel lining has rusted around the door, this started within 24 months of purchase, it is now so bad (48 months on) that I consider microwave leakage a real possibility. It is working fine but I will now have to buy another microwave. My new one will have a STAINLESS lining and door if not all stainless.
Amazon CustomerI bought this from Amazon 3 years ago. The lining is both hard to clean and badly flaking off and the turntable consistently falls off the ring holder. Really disappointed with Panasonic. Don't recommend this. After putting up with it for 3 years I'm looking to buy a new one and it won't be Panasonic.
skkMy first one decided to turn itself on randomly which was obviously rather terrifying! Panasonic customer services were absolutely useless but luckily amazon know how to look after their customers and I had a new machine the next day. The second one was adequate (didn't cook like an 800w and slipping turntable) but now the paint has peeled off the interior, exposing metal and rendering it unusable. Given up and gone with a different brand now.
Lynn SpybeyI bought this microwave when we first move to the UK and it exploded after about a year and a half for no apparent reason. I thought it was a fluke and had liked it prior to this event, so I just replaced it. Nope. Not a fluke. The same thing has just happened two seconds in to warming up my lunch crack, pop, sparks, smoke, smoke, smoke. Luckily I hadn't even had time to walk away from the machine yet. Don't waste your time.
kelly a ferraroBought as 800W, labelled as 800W but it is running like 700W. Expected much better from Panasonic.
E BARCLAYThis is a great little microwave. We used to have a combination oven type microwave but discovered that we didn't really use it much so we wanted something that was just a microwave and not occupy to much space. You can get a normal size dinner plate in it. My only issue is that every time I set the clock I seem to cancel it when using the microwave controls, I know this is my fault but it is frustrating that by pressing the time button it automatically resets the time rather than just doing nothing. Other than that it would have had 5 stars.
Mr Alan TravisI got this 2 years ago and our family uses this every day since then. The microwave is rather small but very powerful and reliable. I did not like its controls but got used to it after a few weeks. It fits a normal dinner plate just fine and heats up ready made meals very quickly, food is usually piping hot if you stick to the instructions, so I tend to set 30 seconds less for times above 3 mins. Rarely used for defrosting so can't provide opinion on that but it's a very reliable appliance overall.Update: after about 7.5 years of service it started turning itself on on its own which is quite worrying. I'm now in the market for a replacement. I modified my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars because of this.
A BBought this to replace my Panasonic Inverter microwave which I only paid £69.99 3 years ago but was astonished to find its equivalent now costs nearly £150. Although my old microwave had a much larger capacity of 32 litres and a 900W turbo reheat etc, I had never used it for anything more exciting than heating up milk, soup, baked beans or the occasional ready meal. So, as cost was a major factor, but I still wanted a white Panasonic microwave with touch control, I decided to settle for this more compact NN-E271 Panasonic microwave.Being compact, it fits easily on the end of my worktop surface, measuring: width 43cm, height 25cm, depth 34cm. The door is hinged on the left. You need to allow clearance of 10cm at the rear, 15cm above and 5cm at the sides, although I would advise allowing more clearance on the left, as it vents on the left-hand side. Microwaves can overheat if the venting is blocked. The only problem I have with the compact size is that it cannot hold my oval shaped plates, as it only has a 25cm glass turntable. The clearance inside the microwave from the turntable to the top of the inside of the microwave is also a more compact 16cm. The only gripe I have is that the acrylic interior is grey coloured which is a little dark, and not so easy to see if clean (my previous Panasonic had a creamy white acrylic interior). All that said, it does want I need it to! If I need anything more, I'll use my hob or oven...
