Much lighter weight
terrryhigI like the weight, design and features, especially the Quick Calc Release. On the downside, the glide is very poor and sticks to fabric even when the temperature setting is low and steam is on. My previous Philips iron had better glide.
DonI bought this to replace an old Azur model which was fantastic until it went "bang". I thought this model would be very similar, but am so unimpressed. The sole plate ("Steam Glide") apparently is Philips' premium one, but it is much less good than the old iron; it sticks slightly to light cottons causing wrinkles. Turning the temperature down just does not cut it - yes, the iron sticks less, but does not get out the creases. This is despite the high steam setting. Also, the amount of steam is paltry compared to what I am used to, and it dribbles slightly.
AyrshireXC90lighter have now brought another one from Philips and its the newer one I htink and much lighter and steam seems to last longer.
francesca3253Bought due to old iron (6 years old) started to leak. This new has a shorter lead (worse), does not de-calc like old model (worse) instead it deposits calcium deposits on the ironing, base plate already discoloured after just a few days of ironing (worse). If I could have bought previous model would have like a shot. Generally very average with some real shortfalls.
pdmFirstly, box and contents had already been tempered with, but iron looked to be ok and in new condition.I plugged the iron in, and it started smoking!! With a strong smell of burning plastic. Quite concerning. Under close surveillance it did stop.Iron ironed well, but if you press the steam boost button, it spits out water on to your clothes. Also when you place the iron down after use, it makes a brief crackling noise. Which is also very concerning.Im not sure what to do about this product. Is it just because its new/been sat around in a warehouse, or is the product dodgy/potentially dangerous.
JacquelineNice looking iron unfortunately I had to return it as wanted a light weight iron the description stated the iron weighed under 1kg in fact it weighs 1.5kg too heavy for me
Natalie2611Purchased this iron in March. Only ever used ironing water in it but that doesn't seem to have stopped it rusting inside. The problem has been getting worse over the past few weeks and now it's spewing out rusty water all over my clean washing despite my many attempts with the calc clean button. I have always had Phillips irons but this one has put me off for life
DwinsterFar too geavy and clumsy to use. The handle is thick so makes ironing much more of a chore than it needs to be. I was so confident I had made the right choice as it has a feature to get rid of chalk but now I just avoid ironing as it's so heavy that my hand starts hurting after a while. It doesn't seem to slide brilliantly eitger. I'm really disappointed.
MaryRegardless of which high heat setting was used it spat water instead of steam - hopeless mess and it has been returned. Purchased a Bosch instead!!!
egabvaThe design of iron is quite good and is light weight. It is quite easy to use and warm up quickly.
TrustADFirst time using the Iron it leaked water all over the clothes and left a black mark on my husbands shirt collar - put it back in box and returned!
DisneyThe worse iron we have ever brought. Seems to burn everything no matter what temperature it is set at, making shining marks on our cloths. Philips just can’t seem to make a decent product these days, every toothbrush we have seems to fail within a year. Worst still, Amazon are great but completely wash their hands of any faulty products after 30 days.
charlieI always buy Philips irons, this one isnt too heavy, I’m just a little disappointed it doesnt steam as much as other irons I’ve had. Have got all the settings right but hardly any steam comes out
Blondie1969Been a great iron after using for just over a month, noticed it’s started to leak brown liquid all over my clothes. Followed instructions for cleaning but still the same. Ordered a replacement today so shall amend my review accordingly
Pinder L.I bought this iron, coz it was the same as one I already had.. I thought the calc collector could be emptied but it cannot... the one I have is amazing and you just pull out the calc collector and empty it...
gillingham4meThe iron is ok but is not as good as my old one and leaves creases even on the hottest setting.
