The machine works but tends to squash sandwiches made with conventional and italian bread. Probably a design fault.
HopeThere are no ridges on the hot plates as shown on the picture on the packaging and the ciabatta sandwich pictured. Brevilles customer service response “tough”. Why put incorrect pictures on the packaging?
Mrs. Suzanne E. ReesThe product, while functional, was perfect. The ceramic plates are worth the extra cost, imo, since it would make for a longer lasting product without safety concerns. The heating is powerful enough for occasional grilling and the height setting of the plates is useful to suit various items, which would otherwise be squished by the heavy plates... But then, after 3 months of frequent use, it stopped working. . . We got immediate responses and support, no complaints, and a refund for the product. But, well, we would have liked it to be more reliable.
Olga ChatzifotiToo small to fit 2 small panini on at same time top of lid doesn't sit flat so cooks more at one end have to lift back end to adjust top not easy when hot. Wouldn't buy again.
WendywooBought this thinking it would be good but got the old one back out of the shed !! This just flattens the sandwich and burns them. You cannot turn it up or down like my other one so the one heat is meant to do everything .However some cheeses don't melt if you don't let it burn the bread . Don't waste your money..
AnitaLarger and heavier than expected. No timer. Fell short of my expectations in numerous other ways.
MorgieThis ineat little sandwich toaster is fine for making hot snacks using sliced bread but I found it unsatisfactory for thicker things such a filled ciabatta roll or panini. The top plate of the device is too tightly tethered by the electrical cable between the top and bottom hot plate such that the top plate cannot be swivelled level over a thick sandwich/roll. The end result is that the side of the roll toward the back of the plate is more toasted than the front as the top plate is angled such that the front is much higher than the back. I also found that the filling tended to be pushed more to one side of a roll as there is more pressure at the back than the front.
KirstineTemperature control is non existent - bottom element is FAR hotter than the top, which leads to burning the bottom while leaving the top white. Unsure if this is a faulty unit but this was no better than just using a frying pan as I had to flip each sandwich to ensure it was actually cooked. Have returned to buy a better product, extremely disappointed as my last breville panini press was fantastic. My advice is to buy a different model.
James Smiththis is a terrible product, where to start? firstly it is small, too small to toast two panninis as advertised, more importantly look how lightly the press is resting on top of the items, thats because if you put any preasure on the handle to put the rest of the plate into contact with the food the whole thing tips forward potentially bringing the whole thing into contact with your knuckles, so to toast anything you have to stand over it applying gentle downward preasure to heat anything thoroughlya vwaste of money
Marc Wye-HarrisAbsolutely useless, no stability and impossible to lock when you put a sandwich in it
Copper1The description says it takes "3 slices" and "3 paninis". I'd love to know what make of loaf Breville used when making that claim! I agree that it's wide enough for 3 paninis but not deep enough unless they are very small ones. The bread in the photo I've uploaded is from a standard Morrisons loaf. You can see that the press just about accommodates 2 slices.
Mark10759Disappointed, I had ordered a sandwich maker round sealed edges but changed to this one thinking I could make a square ordinary toasted sandwich. No it works so well the sandwich ends up almost the thickness of a piece of paper. Cannot understand the 5 star reviews. Sorry,
MoImpif you buy this from argos, open box in store and check that the top plate doesn't rub on the arms, unfortunately it took me a few times to realise one side was rubbing and so couldn't take back. Other than that the build quality is poor although it looks nice, and in fairness does a really good job of toasting various sizes of bread and crumpets buns etc. would I buy again ? probably but would check for the above defect.
PigletThe panini maker didn’t work for me , it sounded good but didn’t deliver the product inside ended up extremely thin and flat there was no substance left to it ,
JackieIt's a little smaller than I expected, won't get 2 full size toasted sandwiches on it.
kimberley6322I find it takes quite a long time to actually toast the bread and melt cheese filling but the non-stick surface is easy to clean and it fits 2 sandwiches at a time with ease. This is a basic model which is what I wanted so I wasn't expecting it to do more!
ToastieVery good standard product. It’s unfortunate that Argos have advertised the plate size incorrectly! It is no where near. The actual press including handle is near enough that size, but not the actual plates as advertised. I bought this for work and had it not already been used I would have returned this for a refund.
kaliasThis works o.k. but it pushes the pannini forward as you go to close it, so you have to use a wooden/plastic spatula to hold it in position as you are trying to close the lid. Also I don't think it cooks the fillings to a hot enough temperature unless you leave it twice as long as they recommend! It does clean very easily though. One wipe while still a bit warm does the trick.I think the design should have allowed for the hinged back to raise wider in some way.
Joan DyeReally good for panini s and soft rolls and bread heats quite quickly. Only floor I found is it does not toast evenly needs to be turned halfway through to toast evenly. Otherwise satisfied with this product.
LishyOnly issue is it said it does 3 sandwiches at time. But not sure what bread they used but with the Warbutons bread we use you only get 2 on it. It does.not matter to us as we only ever do 2 sandwiches at a time.
TimPEnjoy cafe-style toasted sandwiches at home with this brushed stainless steel sandwich press. The product stands upright to allow for compact storage and cleaning is easy thanks to the flat non-stick plates.
