Lasted just over 1 year

Worked well for 1 year, now does work. You pay more money for a decent product thinking it will last longer but clearly not the case.

Overall decent machine!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

370w of power, I've had a few dehumidifiers and this seems more heavy duty, hence more power usage than the standard ones, and due to this it's a lot noisier, I had to return 3 due to faulty lcd display. But my latest one seems to have a working display. Lost stars due to manufacturer being aware of lcd display fault!

Known Faulty
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Shouldn't continue to be sold with the widespread LED failure which makes the timer difficult. Now missing 2 LED segments in 3 months. Another looking weak. An 8 looks like a H.

Display is not working after a week of use!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

It clearly works really well, but the number display on the top of the unit is not working correctly after a short amount of use (within a normal home environment) meaning it is hard to set desired humidity levels etc.

Dangerous, smokey, compressor leaked. Not worth the money
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Covered in a clear oil. I suspect the compressor had leaked, the box was covered and so was the device. It seemed to function, but after running it for a short while it began to generate smoke and smell strange, presumably from the oil, the front of the device next to the compressor was too hot to touch and the device was disconnected as it posed a fire hazard. Smoke alarm was set off. Amazon customer service were not brilliant either when I contacted them to try and replace or refund.

Not bad for the money paid
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Not bad for the money, I paid £93. Some other reviews say it's loud but it depends when you intend to use it. I've just moved into a new build so I'll be using it int he daytime to get rid of some excess moisture from the paint/plaster and also when drying clothes indoors.

There seems to be a general issue with the LED display as one of the lines on my display is temperamental, and many other people are reporting issues with it. I can't be bothered with the faff of returning it, it does it's job and you can still easily work out the number.

Disappointed, arrived promptly but would have been nice if the LED display worked properly instead of missing digits and flickering. While I was trying to make a go of it though I found the thing to be noisy, too noisy in fact to use in the bedroom if you're trying to sleep, although to be honest I didn't have it that long. returned for a full refund, thanks Amazon.

Noisy but happy with the purchage
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

It works very well, basically it does what it should do. The only downsides that I have to point is:

- Noise. Very Noisy compared to other products
- Power Cable. Should have more length and should be retractable so you could use only the length you want and when done, just save everything inside.

Buy a cheaper one
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The digital numeric display had a couple of faulty segments so it was impossible to read the humidistat setting to use the device properly. Had to return to Amazon at my own expense despite it being faulty. The replacement still has a dodgy display and having phoned VAX they already seem to be aware of the problem so probably one to avoid.

Iffy
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

It would have been good value at flash sale price if it had worked ok, but more reliable products with the same performance are available at its normal sale price. I Received 2 in a row both with faulty LED displays. Wish I could contact Amazon to arrange a part refund, as the thought of having to go through ordering a replacement again is a pain, as I'm using it in the cellar and it's heavy! Apart from that, it does a good job of extracting moisture from the air. It does tend to fill the collection bucket to the brim before stopping, which is a bit inconvenient - the full bucket detection mechanism isn't obvious, the float in the collection bucket is in fact not connected to any switch mechanism so I can only assume it's detecting water backing up into the drainage pipe! I'm not hopeful of the other electronics continuing to work well for a long time, if the numerical LED display is faulty on arrival, so don't hold your breath about the moisture detection and other settings. Contact me please Amazon?

Powerful if unwieldy machine that does the job but may not suit smaller homes.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This Vax power de-humidifier has digital controls which make the machine fairly easy to programme and using it one room i found a distinct drop in humidity levels. So if you need a de - humidifier this one certainly can be recommended, however there are some things which i didn't like. The machine is heavy, and can only be lifted by side handles which are flush to the machine sides. You do need a reasonable amount of space to place this in a room and I feel that it is too big for rooms in smaller houses. Fine for an office space though.

Nicely designed
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I am downrating my initial review because the automatic control doesn't work. A humidifier which doesn't switch off when the target humidity is reached is not quite useless but impractical to use. I am regretting that I recently got rid of my ugly old Mitsubishi dehumidifier which cost me £40 from Argos in 1989 and ran almost non-stop in my garage for 20 years without a hitch. Here is my original review:This is an automatic dehumidifier which switches on and off like a heater on a thermostat except it is controlled by its humidity measurement. This is a relative measure (which is the normal way to do it) which means that if the room cools down, the figure will rise even though there is no more water present (and vice versa). If you are concerned about a musical instrument, it is equally important to keep the temperature stable. It is odd that it displays the percentage humidity as a percentage but only lets you control it in steps of 5%. It seems to me perfectly reasonable to want to set it more precisely as a single point will make a real difference to the running cost. There seems to be some confusion over what you do with a dehumidifier. I suggest that you put it in a room that tends to get too damp, set it to 70% and leave it on. Once it has got rid of the excess humidity it will switch off and just come on again as needed. If it keeps coming on, the cost of running it will become prohibitie so you might want to think about a higher setting. For most purposes, 70% is plenty low enough. I don't see any point paying to make the air uncomfortably dry, unless you have something that needs drying out. Then you can put it on a low humidity setting temporarily. It is noisy when operating. You won't want to have it on in the same room where you are having supper or watching television. It's a bit fiddly to empty but not too bad.It is attractively designed. I get the feeling the design is more geared to looking nice than to lasting. Only time will tell but

Product Description

The Vax Power Extract 16L dehumidifier removes excess moisture from your home quickly and efficiently, reducing condensation, damp, mould and mildew for a healthier home environment. The Smart Air Sensor monitors the air and adjusts extraction to maintain your chosen humidity level while the digital display and 3 colour indicator light gives real time feedback letting you see at a glance if the room is too wet, too dry or at optimum humidity. The Power Extract is the UK's first 16L dehumidifier with night mode. The dimmed lights and reduced fan speed means your dehumidifier gets to work while you get an uninterrupted night's sleep. Plus, the handy clothes dry mode operates the fan at the highest speed setting to help clothes dry faster. The Power Extract also doubles as fan to circulate the air in your room so you can use your dehumidifier all year round. The digital timer lets you set exactly when you want the dehumidifier to work while the large capacity 5.5L tank also means less frequent emptying. It also comes complete with a tube for a continuous drainage option. The Power Extract's portable design means you can easily move it to wherever you need your dehumidifier to work.
