This has become a lunchtime staple machine.Great device and easy to use
Ian E.As with the waffle maker - this does the job but doesn’t wear well. The plates are fine but the grey paint chips off the machine very easily - the slightest bump or knock or slightly too vigorous removal from the cupboard. It’s one month old and looks a year old. Very disappointing.
goodersBrilliant product easy to use and bring back memories from years ago
LyonsHad one for many years with no problems so have bought a new one and it is just as good great value and a fair price
H. WattsVery pleased with my breville Toaster. Easy to use and toasties are thicker. Washing couldn't be easier , just pop of put in the dishwasher.

MoLovely. Impressed
MRS J P TAYLORGreat if you only want to make one toastie...not wide enough for 2 standard sized bits of bread.
DavidArrived quickly and works great my grandson wouldn’t eat anything but toastiys if it was up to him. Cooks quickly and evenly.
Amazon CustomerSo, confusingly, I also have the previous model to this, the VST073. THe 073 came out around 2016 and the 070 is new this year, apparently. Hmm. Model numbers shouldn't work like that.I've often gone through the sandwich toaster cycle - someone mentions toasted sandwiches, nostalgia kicks in, I buy a sandwich toaster, use it three times (the exact number of times to completely cake it in burnt cheese and ham juice), then I try to offload it to someone in the family, and finally the sandwich toaster is told we're taking it to the beach but it actually ends up in a hopper at the recycling centre. Not so this deep fill Breville. The ease of cleaning alone means it's getting more use, but couple that to the deeper fill plates, which makes spillage less likely and it's become something I use quite regularly. My go to is a dead simple baked beans, grated cheese and ham mix, sometimes with a dash of some sauce or other, but you can do lots of different mix-ups and you don't even need to use cheese at all (though I think it's heretical not to). This "new" model (the main difference between the 073 and the 070 is that the new one has two heat settings) works with the original waffle plates, which can be bought separately. The waffle plates bring the price up to about sixty quid altogether, but open up a world of sweet and savoury waffles - churro style, pancake style or traditional sweet Belgian waffle, but you can also make really great hash browns (this does involve a lot of squeezing water out of shredded potato, so kinda not worth the effort but worth trying at least once) and other potato and other vegetable based dishes. The plates are a doddle to keep clean, and because removing them lets you at the "guts" of the toaster it's also really easy to keep the rest of it clean as well.I am a fiend for kitchen gadgets, but this is one of my favourite snack making devices.

Clever SpudPerfect for a quick toast !
StephnieGreat peice of kitchen kit, it would be even betterIf it was supplied with a timer.
William B.Nothing reminds me more of my student days than a ham and cheese toastie made on a Breville. I was given my first Breville in 1988 when I left home and was handed the much used family toastie maker which had already been in use for many years. It finally gave up in 2000 when I was bought my second one as a house warming gift when I bought my first home. It served me well for many years before perishing earlier this year after I dropped it and all of the casing cracked. So in 30+ years I'm now on my third Breville. My point is they are built to last and consistently turned out brilliant toasties so for less than £40 this is a bargain.Using it is unbelievably simply: plug it in and wait a couple of minutes until it warms up. Put in your "raw" toastie and about five minutes later you have toasted food heaven. Cleaning is just as easy - a quick wipe with a damp piece of kitchen roll and as good as new. Every home should have one.
Darth SpanielThis is a top quality sandwich toaster that can hold a lot of topping with the sandwich making it great for those of us that love our cheese. It never fails to make great toasties and seals the bread well to hold everything in.
Beefer28Excellent toastie maker - clear indicators, quick operation, lovely toasted sandwiches. It is able to accommodate deeper filled sandwiches than most toastie machines I've tried - great if you want more fillings! This is made to a very high quality standard.
YoudontownmeA much improved on the last one cannot find any problems .
shirleyI already have the larger version of this which I use regularly and love; it’s quick and efficient and has removable plates for easy cleaning. This is the smaller version which my daughter has taken off to her new flat with her and it’s similarly easy to use, fast and efficient. It seals the edges of the toastie well, so long as you don’t overfill, and it’s wipe clean afterwards. Easier to clean if you wipe it down while it’s still just warm and any spillages haven’t yet had time to set hard. Compact and easy to store away when not in use.
HaselburyI threw away 3 sandwich toasters in the last 4 years, all supermarket brands, price range from 15+. One just stopped working, the other two have become a nightmare as melted cheese got just everywhere inside and I was not able to clean it well after some time. So smell of burning cheese is what we had for breakfast. I switched to panini maker, which has been quite good, however, my hubby has been complaining that sandwiches are not sealed properly. So this new Breville toaster arrived just in time. Trusted and well-known brand, expensive kitchen addition... I had big expectations. Well. Expectations have been exceeded.I've been using this Breville toaster for almost a month and I - am - so - in - love! Definitely, the best sandwich toaster I've owned! Stylish and functional design, very convenient in use plus very easy to clean. First time I actually enjoy the process of making sandwiches and don't mind cleaning afterwards. The toaster doesn't smell of cheese when I make our favourite apple cinnamon pastries. We tried classic cheese and ham, tuna, steak - all came out perfect. You do need to apply some strength to seal them really well. However, with this toaster, any leakage is not a problem.I am very pleased. My hubby is just happy. We couldn't find any shortcomings, really, except for the price. It's a pricey item, however, you do get what you pay for.
LThis is much stronger than previous sandwich toasters I have used. It feels sturdy and much less likely to break. The plates inside, pop out for easy cleaning. They are non stick and so are easy to clean. Very simple to use and makes a quick and easy snack.
Robert HardieThe original and still the best, Breville Sandwich Toasters have been making delicious toasties for the nation for over 40 years. Our latest model features easy-clean, natural DuraCeramic plates, variable temperature and a deep fill design, for even more of your favourite fillings. Compared to a standard non-stick surface, the unique DuraCeramic coating produces better heat transfer for quicker cooking times and even browning. It's up to four times more durable than standard non-stick, scratch-resistant and won't flake or peel. It's easier to clean too - any food residue can be simply wiped away - and it's free from PTFE and PFOA chemicals. Low and high temperatures give you more control over different bread types and fillings. This is handy if you’re creating sweet treats, as breads with a higher sugar content burn more easily. The non-stick plates, with Cut & Seal system, produce perfectly formed toastie triangles and accommodate large and small bread slices. A fully enclosed plate system helps prevent filling leakage while the specially designed element ensures toasties are browned to perfection. Once you've enjoyed your tasty snack, the easily removable plates mean cleaning is a breeze. The cord storage, handle lock and flat rear panel make compact, upright storage easy.
