Its perfect for my son to make grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, anything quick and easy can be done in this with any type or size of bread.
AmazonianHours of fun finding sandwich combinations to make with this toastie maker. Must have saved a fortune, not having to go out to the neighborhood cafe for ham & cheese toasties. Why would anyone do without a toastie maker?! Just get it now!
IxxyWhat a fantastic addition to my kitchen! I purchased this product mainly to use as a panini press however I have also made toasted sandwiches and both are easy to make and delicious! There is no heat setting, you just plug it in and turn it on, the lights indicate when it is ready to use. There is a lock on the handle to keep the press shut while it is heating and for storage. Item comes with a recipe book but I find most panini's take between 5-8 minutes and cheese toasties just a few minutes, and both come out perfectly! You can comfortably fit 3 small panini's side by side (2 longer ones width ways) or 2 sandwiches side by side. The top plate swivels to evenly compress the contents. Item is so so easy to clean; I've had cheese melt onto the plates and once the press has cooled down, these wipe easily away from the non stick plates. A quick wipe with a damp cloth and and once completely cooled you can simply wrap the cord around the base, and I store stood upright on my kitchen top. I am not disappointed with thise purchase!
Miss M BondI went through a phase of wanting melted cheese toasties so rather than buy a conventional toaster I bought this. However now I have gone off cheese toasties I find I am just making ordinary toast in this thing. It does its job. Toasting uniformity is very dependent on how uniformly the bread is sliced, but golden crispy toast is definitely possible. I decided against cooking burgers or sausages in it (as if it were one of those clamshell grills) because there is nowhere for fats to be directed.. if too much fat comes out of the meat that is cooking it will overtop the tiny ridge that marks the edge of the plates and then probably dribble everywhere I don't want to have to be cleaning it from. I wish the plate was a little broader as I can find space for three slices of bread but not four. Cleaning grease marks and crumbs is easy, I've not felt the need to get it wet with washing up liquid once.. I wipe the plates of any fats while they are still hot using paper towels. If there are crumbs I just shake them into the sink. I've got used to there being no on unit on/off switch because I have realised that the electric socket I plug the unit into has an on/off switch, and I can also unplug the unit to be sure it will not be running my electricity bill up while I am not making breakfast. Probably good discipline to unplug devices from the electricity when they not in use.
GWChimpThere are no ridges on the hot plates as shown on the picture on the packaging and the ciabatta sandwich pictured. Brevilles customer service response “tough”. Why put incorrect pictures on the packaging?
Mrs. Suzanne E. ReesThe product, while functional, was perfect. The ceramic plates are worth the extra cost, imo, since it would make for a longer lasting product without safety concerns. The heating is powerful enough for occasional grilling and the height setting of the plates is useful to suit various items, which would otherwise be squished by the heavy plates... But then, after 3 months of frequent use, it stopped working. . . We got immediate responses and support, no complaints, and a refund for the product. But, well, we would have liked it to be more reliable.
Olga ChatzifotiHad it delivered yesterday- so far made delicious cheese and onion toasties, this morning did bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes for three of us,and tonight did grandkids fish fingers and waffles ,then a steak for myself. All perfectly cooked in quick time.Havent used the cooker since yesterday ! Brilliant machine.Havnt used any oil on it for anything - didn’t need any- and just wiped it clean.I was just going to buy the usual toastie cut in a triangle with sealed edges type, but decided to go for a better model. And yes mine did come with a recipe booklet.Absolutely love it,it’s going to get a lot of use.Sturdy, easy to use,a dream to clean.
Helen PullenBought this to allow me to make more wraps and paninis. Love it so far. So easy to use. Wait till at right temperature and away you go. Easy to clean as well - bonus!
L-AThis is brilliant press, it has the power and heat in the plates to not only to do toasted sandwiches, but to do do a nice steak in about 3 minutes or up to 7 minutes if you like it well done. Switch it on with the lid closed and the both lights will light up, after a few minutes the fixed temperature light will go out letting you know the press is ready. Open lid place your sandwiches's ( up to 4 on the base plate) or your steaks, if your not using the full capacity of the press place them in the middle and close the lid ( which pivots ) allowing it to cope with doorstep sandwiches quite easily or odd thicknesses of meat. You don't need to press down on the lid, its quite heavy enough to toast your food to your liking. If you like your food biscuit texture then by all means use light pressure on the handle. You will notice during cooking the orange temperature light will cycle on and off, this is normal and not a problem. During cooking open lid every few minutes to see how your food is going and until its to your liking. I have had no problem cleaning the plates no matter what has been cooked, the way I do it is this, fold at least three sheets of kitchen roll together and have a hard spatula ready ( not metal ). If there is no spillage remove sandwich, switch off machine and immediately wipe both plates using the kitchen roll, take care remember its red hot and the lid moves on its pivot. if you have a spillage or have cooked meat, immediately after removing food use spatula upside down and scrape spillage to center and lift it from plates using spatula and wiping it on another piece of kitchen roll, switch off machine then using the pad of kitchen roll to wipe over and clean the plates. again be careful its hot and the lid swivels, its takes no prisoners it will burn you.

Phil in BlackpoolWOW - this is the best thing since sliced bread. I’ve tried all sorts in the past. This does anything you want it to. Thick, thin, round, square, you name it, it works every time.Pittas, Nan’s,ciabattas, etc Cleaning is a Doddle, just wipe it over with a piece of tissue when slightly cooled. Its a miracle product in my view.
LPamela leatI’ve had this product for well over a year and have been disappointed with it each time I’ve used it. Main issue is that it doesn’t get hot enough for my needs and it flattens the bread and contents too much due to weight of the lid causing the sandwich contents to spill out. I’ve rated it low for these reasons. In fairness it has been very reliable, easy to clean and has a large ‘cooking’ area.
P MAfter reading other reviews I decided to bye I cannot understand were people are coming from regards not that good IV mad verious sandwiches cooked eggs bacon you name it all with great results a valuable item in my kitchen A+++
Amazon CustomerI bought this for my teenage kids to make paninis when they got home from school - it is brilliant! It works well with different types of bread - panini, ciabatta and focaccia and cooks evenly, without burning. Very easy to use and clean afterwards - just make sure you only use non-metal spatulas to stop any scratching. It is quite big so takes up a bit more storage space than I was expecting but other than that, I would thoroughly recommend.
CocoI wanted to get something for my son having watched them make the most delicious looking toasted 'Cubanos' sandwiches on 'Chef' movie... This is THE best sandwich toasted ever. Its a great weight, makes the most awesome tasted sandwiches . OK, so they're not 'sealed' like the other sandwich maker, but this feels very professional and is super easy to clean if any filing oozes out. Also great with or without any additional olive oil / butter to toast with, so it can be healthy ... though not with the fillings we use! Which reminds, great little recipe book comes with it too . DEF recommended.
Amazon CustomerBrought this to replace the other that now keep at work, iv had my 1st one for years and still use it every day. I know its for toasting but i mostly fry eggs on mine, it really is AWESOME at cooking bacon aswell! Quick to cook and quick to wipe down and clean afterward
Amazon CustomerWe have a traditional sandwich toaster (and have done for many years) which is great, so this new addition is to toast different breads that have appeared over the years - pannini's etc. Great job! I suspect we'll be using it quite a lot more over the years now we're moving beyond its honeymoon period.Recommend? Yep - go for it... definitely a good-buy.Only downside is storage: It would be nice if it could be stoved neatly upright in the cupboard or on the side - it cannot, which is a bit of a (frustrating) design oversight for me hence can only give 4 stars
Honest Johni usually buy sage products, but having had to return my sage icecream maker due to its utter inability to make icecream, i looked at other brands. This seems to have the best reviews and so i bought this rather than the sage press. So far seems excellent value for money and has made some excellent sandwiches. As I am a non meat eater, i am not sure how versatile it is for me, probably just use it for sandwiches.
At0micAndyI found that above the usual cheese and onion sarnies I then tried streaky bacon & egg ones.cooked bacon and then the scrambled egg separate placed both into the buttered bread which resulted in...... one great toasted sandwich !I also found that having a flat bed makes it much more versatile then the 'grooved' ones in my opinion.
Mr. R. A. Clarke============= REASON FOR BUYING =============Being single again I needed something to help me make quick, tasty snack type dinners most divorcees live off.I always loved making Breville sandwiches with my mum and stuffing them with (sometimes strange) combinations of whatever was in the fridge so I wanted to get something similar.Due to living on the continent for many years I have also fallen in love with Pannini's and the array of TUrkish and Italian toasted sandwiches so wanted a press rather than the traditional sandwich makers============= CONTENTS AND PACKAGING =============Comes in a decent sized box with instructions. It's pretty straight forward and uses the classic 2 light mechanism my Breville from 30+ years ago had, whereby red means on and green mean stick her in!============= WHY THESE ARE VERY GOOD =============See pics, I have made toasted sandwiches, parathas, paninis, Turkish bread durums and even crisped up Samosas.Cleaning is a doddle, I have a dedicated sponge I just rinse and use to wipe when warm and it's perfect.NOTE - For toasted sandwiches, you need to use thinner bread to melt the cheese or press the lid down firmly to ensure a decent melt level.============= CONCLUSION =============Such a great item for families or singles. I love this item and use it several times a week.
