Great lens, however, they've messed up the ergonomics by swapping zoom/focus rings, which made it really uncomfortable to hold and use. Image quality was good, not amazing, but that's okay. Sharpness was impressive but lacked when at 210mm and minimum focus distance. Speaking of MFD, the magnification was impressive. Build quality is okay. For me, I just couldn't get on with lens' ergonomics. If it was going to be used PURELY for landscape photography then I'd have kept it. Sadly, I did return it and will take a look into Canons V2 70-200mm f4 - I don't need the f2.8's!
SarahGreat lens great price comparison to a Nikon for half the price.
Kindle CustomerThis lens deserves respect which is why I have given it 4 stars. I bought it to use on Nikon d3200,d5500 and d7500. On the d3200 and d5500 it goes on and works like a duck to water. The d7500 is a more highly strung animal so you have to get into the autofocussing menu to get it to work as it should and can. There are only two unobtrusive controls besides the two focussing rings. This is a WYSIWYG lens which does not shorten or grow and it is unnervingly quiet. I compared it to a Nikon afp 70-300 at 200mm and like for like the Tamron lets in more light which is what you are paying for. It is easy and light to work with but you might want to think about putting some grip tape (camo?)on it because it is as smooth as a snakeskin. Is it sharp - Yes but don’t go cutting yourself. Do not lose the rear cap - it is much better quality than the Nikon item so avoid letting it walk. All we need now is for Nikon to make a dslr camera body in dull olive green with black lettering and you are good to go silently. Does it deserve five stars? Of course but I will leave you to give it because I do not have the technical expertise to crawl all over it comparing edge to edge sharpness etc.
