More than just a macro lens

This is such a great little lens. Not only is is a capable macro lens, it can focus to infinity so it’s also a great little walk around lens. The built in light is genius. As a macro lens, it’s very capable and as I photograph objects that are around 1mm in size, I also use it with a set of extension tubes and it copes just fine.

Macro, Macro and Macro... :-)
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

A newbie when it comes to photography and I have no idea what I'm truly doing...haha..! Lots of learning through experimentation. I will say that as a cheaper alternative I have previously purchased and used extension tubes and macro filters. Whilst both of these may produce a half-decent macro shot, there is a lot of trial and error, especially as a newbie. With a few extra pennies in my pay packet, I decided to jump in and buy the actual macro lens (small discount on it at the time).I have not used it fully, but a few random shots around the house has produced some very clear detailed images, so I'm happier as the extension tubes were beginning to frustrate me...!!! (They have subsequently been returned, so 50 quid back in my pocket)Overall I think my macro experimentation/learning will be a much more pleasant experience.

Really good for macro work, cool lens light too!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Only done a little macro work, I'm only a beginner but what I've captured with it it is great. Not used as a wide angle or landscape so can't comment. I've no regrets spending the money on it. Oh... There's a cool light around the lens which you can use to dispel shadow on macro work. What I've heard, this is fairly unique for a lens and its available on a mirrorless!

Macro not Landscape lens
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

The lens is lightweight and connects well to the camera body (I used it on my Canon EOS M3 and M5 bodies). I found it difficult to get a good macro shot hand held. I haven't tried it with a tripod yet. I havn't use the lens flash yet - maybe this will help with sharpness?

super fun say bye bye to finicky macro
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

i saw the you tube videos and they took away my initial fears that this was a toy, i bought it in grey for 160, shots just get snapped and no more slow preparation for macro indoors and outside i look like a prat taking pictures of everything as its so easy, it should make its cost back in stock photos in a year, the entertainment is free and entertaining it is!

Awesome little macro lens
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I do close up photography of watches and jewellery with an eos M5, and this little gem of a lens has made life a lot easier in that regard. No more overweight, oversized and overpriced legacy lenses that need an adapter that makes for a very unbalanced camera. The stabilization works fantastic and the built in ring light has it's uses, but you'll need better lighting than that for most subjects. It's also a decent portrait lens, bokeh is ok if not stellar, but it's good enough for a lot of situations.

Would prefer a metal mount, image quality excellent little light at the front good in hedgerows. Good price value for money and on a Canon M50 very compact. I have two other M Series lens so easily carried as a kit when my SLR kit very heavy.

A stonking lens
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Amazing lens. Easy to use with wonderful clarity and a super macro setting for really close work. I got it for macro use but it’s a good standard lens too. The built in ring light is a clincher- no more messing around with ring flash fittings. Expensive but good

Wow! Check out the built in macro lights. Had some really nice macro shots with this lens. Sharp as my wife's tongue.

Better than it should be
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Better than it should be. 28mm seems very wide for a Macro lens but somehow it works, of course on the smaller than full frame sensor of the M series cameras it is effectively more like a 40 something mm lens which is less wide. The need to extend the lens before use is a bit of a pain but livable with and it often goes through to Super Macro and I have to back it off to Macro. I haven't found the built in lights of any real use but I didn't buy the lens for that.....why did I buy the lens? to see if it was any good and to support Canon in their Mirrorless endeavours.Already it has become a bit of a favourite, I photograph flowers and garden stuff and the focal length and close focus covers all the bases for me. Output quality is very good, plenty good enough for publishing at double page spread size from an EOS M ( I prefer the M to the M3). I wish it was a faster lens, f2.8 would be nice.....all in all well worthy the money.
