This lens has a continuous aperture ring without any stops or clicks. This can make it great for shooting manual video and it is ok to shoot photos with. The focus ring is fairly smooth however on my version there is a slight gritty feel as you get closer to infinity focus. It does feel to have a solid construction and I believe is mainly made from metal. Picture wise it can be a little soft wide open but is unsurprising for this price range. Overall I think this is a great little lens for the price. If you are looking for a first lens to purchase after the kit lens this can be great to introduce you to prime lens and give you a feel for them before purchasing something more expensive.
