Excellent choice for low-light photography using available light, even on digital cameras such as D200. Sharp from f2, very sharp from f2.8 - f5.6.
Andrew SandersStopped down to F2 or F2.8 this lens gives finer resolution and better Strehl ratio than any colour film can cope with. In other words: superb for wide-angle landscape photography. At Full F1.4 aperture it is getting more than a little soft in the corners but still ideal for recording meteor trails and faint star-patterns: also slight signs of vignetting. Closest focus is about 6" and resolution is still excellent.
J. F. JamesThe now legendary NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4 Manual Focus Lens was introduced for press photography. It was and still is among the fastest wide angle lenses available. High speed, high image quality, focusing down to 12” and rugged construction – this lens has it all.
This lens is constructed in the classic all-metal Nikon style to extremely high standards. Even at extremely close focusing range, this lens will maintain sharp definition and high contrast images because it incorporates Nikon’s floating element correction system or CRC – Close Range Optical Correction System. Nikon has maintained the convenient 52mm filter size on this lens.
