I am using the lens on a GH5 and using it mainly for 4K videos. The quality is outstanding, image quality is simply perfect. The autofocus is quiet and fast. I can confirm that a f-change resulting in a relatively loud klick noise, but not relevant for what I am doing.
KLSETTERI told Amazon two months ago that they’re actually showing pictures of the first version of this lens — this new one doesn’t have the silver ring close to the front element. Very happy with the lens and it is very hard to find better value for money for a WR prime in the MFT realm. Focus motors speed and noise are much improved over the previous version. Picture quality is amazing. It doesn’t get five stars simply because at LUMIX they got lazy: all their Leica branded lenses by now have a metal focus ring, whereas this rubberised one feels cheap. Same for the hood: can’t believe the 15mm gets a classy metal one and here they went again for plastic. Including a decoration ring” to cover the hood bayonet would have been nice too.
GiorgioThe former Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 (let's call that the MK1) is arguably an excellent lens, probably the best 25mm for Micro 4/3 for its size and image quality. Let's see how the MK2 compares...
The MK1 had the following problems:
- Noisy aperture blades (famous "rattlesnake" issue)
- Cheap plastic lens hood that cannot be reversed
- No weather resistance
- Stronger chromatic aberration when wide open
- Nitpicking: rubbery surface on focus ring (rather than full metal construction)
Did they fix any of these?
Is the rattlesnake noise gone? NO! absolutely not. It's still there, on my G9 (latest firmware). It's quite random, in good lighting conditions, it is usually nearly silent. Some other times, especially in low light and when dealing with artificial light sources, it's clicking a lot more during focus and while taking the photo.
Is the lens hood better? NO! Still the same piece of plastic that won't reverse onto the lens for storage... It is a different part though, as it has the "H-XA025" label on it, rather than the former "H-X025". But the shape didn't change one bit. I ended up getting a nicer full-metal screw-on lens hood for under 10 quid: still not reversible, but much more compact and nicer feel.
Any other changes? They removed the cheapish shiny silver ring near the tip of the lens, which is a plus, right? They slightly reworked that end section as a consequence. That's the only visual difference.
Is the AF speed any better? It's hard to tell, it's apparently improved, for faster for 240fps shooting... Is it a brand new AF motor built from the ground up, or just a tweaked mechanism? I can't tell the difference between 0.05sec and 0.03sec I'm afraid... In any case, it is fantastically fast, deadly precise. It only struggles in very dim light in conjunction with low contrast subjects, nothing new there (though even an XT3 would struggle in the same condition, with phase-detect AF).
On the other hand, it still delivers the same fantastic

Mister P.A true light design is the 25 mm fixed focal length lens H-XA025. With exceptional detail this LEICA lens will delight you. Thanks to its large aperture opening, it is not only ideal for available light photography, but also offers large scope for design with depth of field. Nano coating with extra-low refractive index on the lens surface effectively minimises reflections and ensures sharp, high-contrast photos without reflections or ghosts. In addition, it also allows for use in harsh conditions due to dust and splash protection.
