A super product from Samyang.

This is a super product. It gives me a good view of the sky. This is what I use this lens for and it doesn't let me down
Like most Samyang lens it's a manual focus product. Also if you are thinking of putting a filter on the lens you're going to be disappointed. You can't.
Nevertheless the pros weight out the cons for this lens A very good buy indeed, and it does come with a hood. On a less praising note the instructions were in German.

great lens but..

Overall this one is a very good lens. I like image quality and build, everything seems good for me. The only thing that disappointed me (and I didn't pay attention before buying it) that you can't take the hood off, so you are not able to use filters. Sadly had to return it and replace it with samyang 12 mm. But I'd love to use this one with filters.

Outstanding lens for its price. Manual zoom is easy as long as the subject is not moving. For it's price is unbeatable.

Lovely sharp lens.

Very nice lens for the money, very sharp, but with the manual focus it can be quite difficult to get it focused spot on. Excellent for landscapes and night sky scenes.

Awesome, but no filters

Very good lens. I like it. I missed the fact that there is no mount for filters, only its big brother for Full frame supports filters, which is a big shame!

I purchased this specifically for astrophotography as it provided a large aperture. As auto-focus doesn't work when focusing on stars, the lack of it on this lens is not an issue for me. The focusing scale on the lens is perfect for my purposes as turning the focus ring to infinity then moving back slightly gives good clear results. This is a mechanical lens so the camera will not receive any settings information to display for you and you can not change the aperture via the camera, but have to do this on the lens itself. But like the focusing scale this is clearly marked on the lens and is very easy to use.I have been very happy with the results I have achieved using this lens.

A decent lens but far too big. It was at least twice the size of any of my fuji lenses. The image quality was great. One drawback is that without autofocus it's hard to tell what you've focussed on.

I've been having problems with large blurry portions on the lens rendering photo's unusable. Seems to have been an issue with the lens from new most likely a defect but the returns period has now elapsed so I'm left with an unusable lens! Disaster, I'd avoid this lens at all costs.

Excellent image quality
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

For the price, I can't fault this lens. You have to be aware that this lens needs to be used fully manual, so focus, aperture, and shutter speed you need to set yourself.I bought this for landscape shots, and in particular photos of the Northern Lights for our trip to Iceland this year. In those circumstances obviously you're going to be using a tripod anyway, so the fact it's manual doesn't really matter.Excellent image quality. This is I believe the widest lens you can go without it ending up being a "fish-eye". There is some barrel distortion but, on a cropped sensor at least (Canon 70D), this isn't too bad and can be easily corrected in Lightroom/Photoshop.

Use it with a D5300 to take night pictures. using ettr pictures tgen reduce exposure back to normal. (f2.4 iso 6400 25 secs) then using Optic Pro 10 to remove light pollution and reduce exposer.
the stars that pull into the pics are amazing.
the lens is more than what I expected. Little Distortion but not realy noticable.

Versatile prime wide angle lens
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I am not a professional but a very keen amateur photographer (www.morayphotographer.co.uk) so cannot dazzle you with the full technicalities of lenses, f stops, speeds etc. This review is just how I found the lens and thought I would share it with you.I bought this lens to use on my Nikon D7000 to assist me photographing indoor shots where my standard Nikon 18 - 105 just did not manage.I had a look locally at prime wide angle lenses and was told this one gave very good results for a fraction of the Nikon alternative.I paid £360 and it arrived 2 days later, well packaged.FITTING - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS because I did not and as usual started blaming my wife, the weather and the state of the current interest rates because I could not get it to go on. THEN I read the instructions and realised that the way to make it fit was to align the white strip on the lens body with the white mark on the camera body. It slid on and "clicked" reassuringly telling me we were home and off we go.READ the instructions because as soon as I turned on the camera it refused to work and the screen flashed up an error message.I blamed my wife, the weather and the state of the current interest rates again and could not understand what was going on. My letter of complaint was already being formed in my head when I turned the f stop ring on the lens body (difficult as it is tight up against the camera body) back up to F22 and off it went.Eventually I read all of the instructions and it clearly explained that I would do what I did and what I should do properly to make it work. When you do what it says (bit like the wife) life is great again. This lens is MANUAL focus so be prepared. Screw the lens as far to infinity as it will go and EVERYTHING appears to be in focus and photographable (made up word).Screw the lens as far in the opposite direction as it will go and everything within millimetres of the end of the lens is pin sharp throwing the background out of focus but still recognisable. This lens works with A M S and P and makes taking photos f

Product Description

Since showing a prototype of this lens at Photokina 2012, Samyang have carefully refined the design, resulting in the new 10mm f2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens featuring parameters and capabilities comparable to the best wide-angle prime and zoom lenses on the market. This opt ic is an ideal tool for indoor, architecture, sport, journalism and landscape photography. It provides an exceptionally wide field of view of up to 109.5 degrees and rectilinear image mapping function. Owing to a fast f2.8 lens speed you can also use the lens in low light conditions. The product's optics comprise 14 elements divided into 10 groups, including 2 aspherical AS lenses and one lens made from extra-low dispersion (ED) glass. This is also the first Samyang lens to feature a nano crystal anti-reflection coating system. This technology provides better light transmission, increased resistance to reflections and higher contrast. All of this translates into the supreme optical resolution of the lens.
