Not alot different from the newer version very quiet on focus and alot cheaper very happy with it
chalkiepainterArrived from Germany within 3 days of order.
I paid a really good price for this lens and just cannot fault it.
Mounted on a Pentax K-30, the pictures are nice and sharp and clear.
An ideal everyday lens.
Thank you.

Catherine VealHave shot off several hundred images and first impressions are that focussing is very quick, convenience is great (not having to carry a bag with several lenses), no worries about dirt ingress when changing lenses. Printing at A3, I find some loss of edge definition at ends of zoom range. Overall very satisfied, this lens will get a lot of use because of the convenience.
P J S Allingtonlens was delivered in5 days. lens arrived in perfect condition, well packed and was as described. Sigma lens has a quality feel and a smooth focus.
Great all in one travel lens. I would happily buy from Foto Palme in the future.

GreatAppFinder 327hyper-zooms like this one suffer from a number of design constraints, usually making them under-perform optically, weigh a lot and be big physically.
Sigma have used low dispersion glass and aspherics to largely overcome these constraints.
Modern design technologies continually improve lens design. This lens is optically better (less chromatic aberration) than an older Sigma 70-300 I own with much simpler design.
The aperture is limited but this is to be expected from such a compact hyper-zoom.
Note that the Pentax version does not come with optical stabilisation built into the lens since this is built in to the camera body. However this lens does have a hypersonic motor driving the internal focus mechanism resulting in quicker and quieter focus acquisition.
This lens is now my standard lens for my Pentax M30.

Dr. N. A. DoddThis 11.1x high zoom ratio lens incorporates Sigma's original OS function and offers a broad shooting range from wide angle to telephoto. The latest optical technology enables easy handheld photography with a compact construction and length of just 87.7mm, making it ideal for various scenes such as landscape, sport and general photography. The compact construction guarantees excellent mobility making ideal for travel photography. FLD (F Low Dispersion) glass, which has performance equal to fluorite, SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, and aspherical lens elements provide high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. Sigma’s HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures fast and quiet auto-focusing.
