Good quality lens for the price. Just a bit of distortion in the up left corner of astro pictures but not too noticeable until zoomed in

Fully manual, excellent, sharp wide angle lens
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I was after a wide-angle lens for landscape photography on a budget and narrowed my choice down between the Samyang 16mm f2.0 and the Sigma 18-35 mm F1.8. I ultimately went for the Samyang as it is half the price of the Sigma and I prefer prime lenses to zoom.To begin with, this lens is completely manual so you have to set the focus yourself and the aperture on the lens and not through the camera. On the entry-level DSLRs such as the Nikon D3500 (that I have) this lens can only be used on the manual mode and there is no exposure bar so taking photos uses a lot of initiative, but if you have been practising photography for a while you will understand all about ISO, shutter speeds and aperture so will be able to get a nicely exposed photo (it may take a few shots but by checking the histogram it's quite quick to check if it is adequately exposed).I primely use this lens for landscapes or if I want to fit as much as possible into my shot and I have been very happy with it thus far. I use a tripod when using this lens as I find it quite difficult getting a sharp photo when using it handheld. I have attached some of my photos to view which show it taking photos of a subject and some long exposures.

Excellent lens for starry night photography
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This lens currently, at least for Canon DSLR users, does not offer autofocus function making focusing of some subjects tricky nor the ability for auto exposure. In other words it is a totally manual operation lens and may put off some potential users for the inability to quickly compose shots and general convenience of use. However for night-time star-scape photography this lens excels. Bear in mind that this lens is designed for APS-C sensor cameras and is therefore not suitable for full frame models.
At full aperture of f2.0 the lens is a little soft but performs fairly evenly across the field with a small but acceptable amount of coma and light drop-off towards the corners. Stopping down to f2.8 improves the overall image and is probably the best compromise between image quality and light gain for star-scape photography.
To obtain pin sharp star images, which this lens is clearly capable of, requires critical focusing, either by using magnified ‘Live View’ on the camera’s screen or taking a series of test shots at slightly different focus positions and marking the optimum position on the focus ring.

In short a good value for money lens offering superb results.
The image is a test shot after establishing optimum focusing: 20sec. exposure @ f2, ISO 1250 Canon EOS 80D.

Good images but heavy for a mirrorless
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Very good image quality but in Fuji fitting, this is the size and weight of a large zoom lens. If you look at the back, it has what looks like an adapter screwed to the back. This is very different from the 12mm which is small and built for mirrorless. On the good side, it is well made and the focus ring feels better than any Fuji lens.

Excellent Lens For Milky Way
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I've only used this lens once but it produced excellent results capturing images of the Milky Way (with Canon 60D). I'd say it's slightly 'faster' then I'd expected so I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to use it so I can try stitching together a few images to get a wider view

Five stars for the image quality and the price , if you purchase this lens you will have to remember what it was like taking photographs before ato everything it is fully manual with no communication to the camera, so it will not suit everyone.
Being manual does slow you up but as this lens is going to be used for landscapes and similar that is not to much of a problem, if you are using it for other work it probably is not for you.
Well built and with very sharp image quality it is a welcome addition to my small lens collection.

Brilliant lens. The only drawback is that there is no communication with the camera for F numbers used, all you get in the exif and on the display screen is F00 which is fine for me but others should be aware of this.

Sharp but no weather sealing in the slightest
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a sharp lens. Not as good as canons own 16-35 but not bad considering the cost. This lens has no weather sealing at all. Mine got a load of sand inside and that was from being on top of my bag at the beach and not even on the sand. So beware it is a delicate lens

I use this on a Fuji. I love the images it produces, nice and sharp and it creates good contrast without me having to mess with the images too much. It's a bit big, but it is nicely manufactured.

One of the best lenses on the market and at this price you can not go wrong
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a very sharp lens. I used this on a holiday to Lake Garda with a Canon 50D and it did not let me down. It is pin sharp anywhere from f2.8 to f16 and very good on other settings. I took some night shots around Garda town set at f2 with a iso of 400 hand held using the camera light meter to set the shutter speed and they came out very good not as good as they would have been if the camera was set on a tripod but still very useable. It's all manual so you need to get the settings right and let the lens do the rest. Day time shots are a breeze and pin sharp. I can not recommend this lens to much. I LOVE IT! and I am by no means a professional photographer.
