Purchased as an Amazon warehouse deal and was happy to receive one in what appeared to be as new condition.Upgraded the RAM to 16gb, although to be honest it is probably not needed. Yes, out of the box it runs hot but have downloaded Throttlestop (YouTube how to guides) which has helped a lot when gaming and bringing down those temps. Seems to handle everything thrown at it so far and I am very pleased with my purchase, especially as it was under £600.

Great laptop, I use it for Destiny 2 mainly and get a solid 60fps at medium settings, has problems with over heating when playing for more than 2 hours but other than that it's amazing

Laptop is great value for money especially after the discounted price from prime day. Good battery life on power saving mode with normal use. GPU and CPU great for gaming and general usage. Laptop does get very hot though. GPU would go up to 87 degrees C and CPU averages around 95 degrees while gaming. Would still recommend this laptop.

Great laptop, didn't realise it doesn't have a CD drive or SD card reader. Very fast start up and great graphics/colours.

There are more expensive options out there but I got this when Amazon had an offer on. More than good enough for the casual gamer, only the hard-core-all-settings-on-max folks may find it lacking. Fans are noisy and it gets rather hot when pushing it on the graphics front, but other than that I'm very happy with just how capable it is. I added another 8gb of RAM just because it was a cheap win to keep things running smoothly.

I got this mainly for playing WOW and Overwatch. It runs everything so well and I am able to play many other games I couldn’t play on my old gaming laptop. I have had it for 2 months now and not had a single issue. It’s a really nice machine.

I really like the screen of the laptop as it is 120hz screen. It has an awesome graphics card which can run most of the games that I play some including csgo, GTA 5, assassin's creed unity, AOT 2 and Fortnite all with good frame rate 60fps for high graphical games and 120fps for most e sports ready games

Looks fantastic, with a red back light, we bought it for my Son as he needs a laptop for music production, as it has 2 fans it fits the bill for staying on a lot of the time, we saved money as well as was on Amazon Prime Day.

I've come to discover temp issues when running at high specs on games, looking at temps as high as 92/93C - on the brink of damaging. Other than that it's a great piece of kit, and for the sales price I bought this at you won't find anything comparable at that price point. Another issue is the BIOS throttling when not plugged in, this is of course very common in laptops but the sheer noticeable significance is frustrating, even when I am not gaming.All in all a great laptop and the above issues are not enough to cause huge alarm but something to bear in mind for the real "techies" out there.

Overall it is a great looking laptop but I hate having one note trying to back up all my documents and photo's - I blame Microsoft for this.I have having issues with a flickering screen and it is proving hard to resolve.

Adding another 8GB Crucial CT8G4SFS8266 to the spare slot (about £40, and confirmed compatible via Crucial website.), improves it to a 'Dual Channel Powerhouse', increasing all single channel review scores across the board by 10 to 20% dependant of workload.Not much diff between 17 and 15" other than power draw and weight. IPS screen colour is perfect for digital or fine print work. Three models tested. Acceptable bleed from all screens.Basically, anything with requirements under Witcher 3 Ultra+Hairworks + many HD texture mods will pump out a solid 60FPS. Apex Legends ran at 60. Dishonored, Slime Rancher, New Wolfensteins 1/2, Alien Isolation, AOE3, 60GB Bluray rips...Not my thing but: Fortnight and Apex hit 80 to 120. PUBG solid 60 with a few tweaks.GTA5 solid etc.Basic ports, basic sound, but perfectly balanced tech so nothing else is bottlenecked.Solid product. No regrets with this model +8GB.

The Pros:1: Great at handing 4k footage for video editing in primer pro and after effects (will probably upgrade the ram to be 16Gb though)2: The SSD, The speeds of the SSD are Blazing fast (Used Blackmagic disk speed test and was getting 1.4Gb Per second)3: Gaming on the laptop (Only played GTA 5, BO3 and Euro Truck Sim) GTA 5 on the Laptop runs around 60FPS give or take at high settings (No advanced setting touched) BO3 Was all High/Very High settings was getting 60/70FPS4: The Screen is Great panel found when doing any color work on it for photos/videos found it to be very accurate (not managed to test it properly with a screen calibration tools) but when viewing photos on other monitors and even prints they are very close.The Cons:1: BATTERY LIFE, while Gaming is less than an hour (video editing is around 2ish hours)2: SCREEN REFRESH RATES, so when I got the laptop and was unplugging the power I noticed the screen goes black for a couple of seconds same with plugging it in and I was confused by this then I notched the refresh rate of the screen seamed to drop so I opened the Intel graphics manger at it was dropping to 48Hz instead of 120HzSo whenever the laptop is on battery it drops to 48Hz which is very noticeable if it was going to drop wish it would drop to 60Hz min as 48Hz seems very laggy feeling but you can simply change it back to 120Hz but wish it would stay at that even after setting profiles in the Intel Graphics manager always drops to 48Hz on battery3. BLUE SCREENS, I have had this laptop blue screen 2/3 times over the last 2/3 weeks, not massive issue but is annoying found it blues screens if I was using the laptop and would go away and it would turn off the display I would move the mouse for it to come back and would blue screen HOWEVER after doing the newish windows update 1903 along with updating the Nvidia drivers (to update the drivers I had to reinstall them would not update with the default installed onesthe blue screen has seemed to of stop (from using it 1 week solid)4. The laptop has nice designed looking and It is good to run most of my games in ultra high graphic quality, and worth the money. The only one problem, it’s easy to get very hot around keyboard when playing games in summer, so I am thinking about whether to get an gaming keyboard for it.

A bit of backlight bleed is probably my only issue with it. Apart from that, it handles everything amazingly well and is a great price for the specs, the 120 Hz screen is just a pleasure to have and being IPS, a bargain. Highly recommended for gamers looking for a decent rig on a lighter budget

i did not know what to expect with this laptop but I am very impressed with it. I watch IPTV and i am a avid gamer too and have played 100's of games on this and they have all played well and look great. Might not be able to play all games on ultra settings but I am very pleased performance wise with this laptop.

It had good price. For that price it is a winner. Keyboard is to big, the far out letters are difficult to hit on (10 finger type). Trackpad is clicky, but it works just fine.

I've been using FX505GM-AL279T for a while now. I've got some observations after many long and heavy gaming sessions. For 900 pounds, I've got what I consider pretty good ingredients for great gaming experience:*120hz refresh rate screen accompanied by slim bezels (and fat chin, unfortunately) and great viewing angles.*i7-8750h is a 6 core, 12 thread CPU with turbo mode which will go as fast as sonic trough any CPU related task.*Good amount of storage. Plenty of space in HDD for games, while SSD will boot your laptop in 5-7 seconds.*Although GPU now is one generation behind (1060 in my model), it still kicks ass. 60fps in pretty much all of the triple-A titles (medium to high settings depending on the game) and 120fps in e-sport and less demanding games.*Comfortable typing, good travel distance. However it might be too soft for some people but for me, it is a perfect mix between gaming and typing. Also red backlighting with 3 brightness levels.However, there is some issues with the laptop and for some people it probably would be a deal breaker:*Poor battery life. I haven't even tried to use my laptop without a charger because I know that it won't last more than 3-5 hours or 1 hour when gaming. If you're looking for a laptop with good battery life, most gaming laptops are not really an option.*Screen could be brighter. Relatively dim in well-lit environments.*Three fan modes: silent, balanced, over boost. ''Silent'' is not really silent, you can still hear fans, but it is bearable, I can work for hours without getting annoyed or distracted by them. However when gaming I would recommend over-boost mode. It keeps the laptop relatively cool, but god damn it is really loud.
