Cunningly Clever
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This camera and remote set up is excellent in concept and execution. It takes some practice to get the best out of it but I see that as testament to its quality.I suggest reading the manual prior to purchase. Budget for additional battery, charger and a decent memory card.I have 2 minor frustrations. It is possible to load the battery the wring way round - seems like a design error. It is not possible to power the camera externally and record at the same time. Charging stops.

Old and expensive!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Filming industry has made a big step since Sony invented this camera. Even though it’s old, it’s still pricey. Image stabilization - from being the best 3 years ago - it went to the worst. Stick to GoPro 8 or other new sports camera.

the camera has many disadvantages
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

1.if you want to shoot more than 1080p50 video you won't be able to do it, because then the video will be jerky, the frames will jump.2.shoot video in 4K in 30 frames, too weak and terrible picture, because they have lags.3.if it is night or low lighting, for example in the evening in the room, the video quality is very low, and it looks like from a cheap phone camera 15 years ago.4.accessories are very expensive and there is very little choice.5.it is very difficult to set up, even if you are well versed in it.6.the remote control should be ruled out altogether, because it is large, uncomfortable, and you will have to spend a lot of time and nerves to fasten it.Displays are weak brightness, on the street you can not see anything in it, or you need glasses.7.in a waterproof case, your sound on the video will barely be heard, even if you scream. but usually in the case you can't hear it at all.8.the battery charge is very quickly consumed, if you see 2 sticks of battery, it turns off within 10 minutes. So, excellent stabilization, looks beautiful, in good lighting beautiful videos, just need format (1080p50) is all it can do.

This is by far, the best action camera on the market. I've tried and returned 2 GoPro Hero 7 blacks, both were terrible. If you're not sure which to choose, this is it. MY YouTube channel 'Transcend Travel' (the one with the blue triangle logo) shows videos shot with this all around the world.

Very valuable and superb action cam
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I purchased this cam for our hiking. My total experience about this cam is superb. It is easy to use. Easy to changing battery and easy to remove/attach the waterproof housing. Image stabilization works fine and you get very nice and stable video clip. Overall this is a great and valuable cam. Unfortunately we have a bad experience from the remote control. To fasten the remote control to your arm with its belt is not easy work. The belt is unnecessary hard with very tighten hole. But the most negative with remote control is its very long delay time to find and connect the main cam and when remote control succeed to connect to camera you have already missed the object to shoot. Therefor we left out using remote and used instead camera button directly and it worked fine. Just one star for remote control and the whole packet i give it four stars.

Fantastic little camera
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This little camera produces amazing footage, considering it's not much bigger than a cigarette packet.

It does get a bit warm filming in 4K and I don't think it'll film all day long in that format.

But I use mine in 1080P all the time and get really bright clear videos from it.
The remote is extremely useful, if a little slow to connect.

I also have a Sony AX700, which cost 4 times as much as this little X3000 - and you'd struggle to tell the results apart.

In fact the stabilisation on this X3000 is miles better than the AX700, the BOSS system is one of the best.

This camera is not that good in lower light though, but apart from that it's a cracking little camera and I'd recommend it to anyone

I ski and I ski fast. One of the problems with that is that headcam footage was always very shaky. OK for a couple of minutes but then you start to feel a little sick. The reviews said this was the best image stabilisation out there so I paid the price and bought it.Was it any good - was it ever? Smooth as silk. Bumps, waves, moguls this camera shrugged them off as non existent. Now everyone watches my off piste exploits and thinks their really easy - sigh! The image has gone from HD on my old head-cam to UHD on this - superb.Does it sound like I'm pleased? Well yes I am. Very pleased.

Superb camera...awful to set up and use....beautifully made...terrible instructions.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Sadly this has been a huge disappointment not because of any performance problems but because it is the most frustrating Sony product I have ever bought. The instructions are woefully complex and simply unfathomable despite my 25 years of computer experience and a lifetime of cameras. I have had to go by dead reckoning to get anything out of it and whilst it certainly works, understanding how to use the menu and to understand any simple day to day use is just completely ridiculous. The remote screen is clever but the finger grip it fits into is one of the worst bits of design I have encountered and it takes brute force to get it to fit and crazy force to get it off to charge it up again. It is a very badly designed force fit and I have spent a lot of time taking care that it was fitting correctly...again the drawn picture instructions are hopeless. Then...so far, in the remote screen, I can only see images that are up upside down whichever way I set it up or hold it and no, the instructions offer no explanation or help that I can find. That the camera is superb, I have no doubt but as I recall with all Sony products I have bought before, the instructions are World Class useless. It may be the best camera but the detail design and user experience render it a very regretted purchase.

UPDATE: The upside down pictures in the remote can be corrected if you find a rectangle with apostrophe marks around it. This is called “Flip” and that corrects the display. WHY the supplied factory default is different is a mystery. It took me some time discovering this after a SONY approved camera shop had no idea how to put it right! Also...three hours of dead reckoning work and I have made progress. I repeat that it is a very good camera indeed...I DO like it but would sack the person looking after product instruction leaflets!

Update: This camera is just about useless...I bought it for a holiday that was rather special to me but despite much preparation and trying to understand the thing, I got just one 5.23 long fil

Good camera battery faulty Amazon not interested
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Fantastic camera, mine still has a faulty battery Amazon not interested in replacing it, they want me to return the whole camera. Got 2 aftermarket ones for £12.00 they are perfect. Remote control has unreliable connectivity. Phone App works best.Lots of talk about the fiddly menu but I found it simple and easy to navigate. The 3000 is way better than my GoPros.

Used camera for 4 week adventure holiday to New Zealand, we did glacier climbing, hiking, white water rafting, biking and general touristy stuff. Really really pleased with this camera after i learned how to use it. I don't often review products i buy but this time i'm so pleased i've picked the right one. the quality of the video is fantastic for an amateur actually makes me look good. plus the photos are very good too.
I've only got 2 downsides
1) the battery goes after a few hours of constant on / off / on / off, easily fixed with a few spare batteries.
2) night time photos and video are no where near the day time / good lighting photos.
I would highly recommend this action cam and would choose it again but be aware of the two down sides above.

Camera has lot of hype. I found it impossible to scan the QR and connect to wifi on IPad Iphone the play memories app was crap would not scan. Had to use SSID and that was not easy. The manual could have been better at explaining the various options - manual written by engineer who new it all and expected a high level of knowledge for his readers. The menu could do with simplifying. NO mini hdmi cable a bit cheap for a 550 action cam

Product Description

Renown balanced optical steadyshot technology from handycam line-up makes incredibly stable 4K footage possible even when running or riding on a downhill bike. Vastly improved image quality thanks to the new exmor R image sensor designed for 4K video and a newly developed Zeiss Tessar lens with less peripheral distortion. The live-view remote is more compact and now comes with more mounting options to suit a wide range of usages. 60 M underwater housing reached deeper depths with action cam than never before. Check to see if the battery pack can be charged without any problem, and if the camera turns on. Attach the battery and turn off the power of the camera. Charging is not possible when the camera is turned on. Open the connector cover of your camera and connect the micro USB cable (supplied) to the camera. Connect the other end of the micro USB cable to the PC. Check that the CHG (Charge) lamp of the camera lights in amber. Charging is complete when the lamp turns off (full charge). If the CHG (Charge) lamp flashes while charging, check the following. The battery pack may not be properly attached to the camera. Remove the battery pack from the camera, and reattach it in the correct direction. The temperature of the battery pack may be too high or low. Remove the battery pack from the camera, wait until it returns to a normal temperature, and reattach it. The battery pack may be damaged. If the symptom does not improve even after charging, there may be a problem with the battery pack. Try using another battery, if you have any, and check the symptom improves.
