Worth every penny
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have no other action camera to compare this to, but so far I am very impressed. Footage during the day is superb and the stabilization is smooth. Not tested it off road yet on my mtb but on my cycle commute it didn't skip a beat.Sadly as many reviews will attest too, the audio is terrible. I purchased an external mic and it does help a little to make you're voice louder but you'll lucky to hear any ambient noise other than cars passing. If you're planning to make videos and put on a music track with it then this is worth your time, otherwise I would look elsewhere.Nighttime footage is grainy and underwhelming. Stabilization is a little more jittery.I am still giving this 5 stars despite the flaws because what you DO get for the price is remarkable.Comes with loads of mounting options and straps and accesories.

Bought for motorcycling...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

...not vlogging/scuba/skiing etc.Initial findings: For the price, this is a good little camera (early days, though) with plenty of menu and setup options. Running 1080p/30fps the battery lasted 3h 14m. Well chuffed with that. And with two 1350mAh supplied would give me over six hours. I knew the sound quality would be wanting, but then I was after a helmet cam to record evidence in the event of a road incident - not making movies and blogging. The instructions advocate the RoadCam app, but the box says AKASO GO. Tried both, and the Akaso Go wins with far more control and fuller menu. Turn on the camera then camera Wi-Fi -> in your phone settings, turn OFF mobile data -> under phone Wi-Fi, select the obvious Akaso -> then open the app and connect. Turn off camera wi-fi when done as it's a battery drain. That worked for me following YT advice after initial non-connection.EIS on a motorcycle (with high speed wind buffeting) was effective, as was the video quality at my chosen settings. More tests to come though. The remote is useful and simply strapped to the brake fluid reservoir. With the camera volume turned up in settings, one click of the remote record button (grey) gives me an audible beep even with helmet on. Same to snap a photo (red): no need to alter the camera from video to photo and back. Handy. So initially, worth the investment, even with the little short-comings.

Great Little Action Camera
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I wanted an action camera to capture some of our travels, I’m not really interested in vlogging just wanted some video footage. At first I really wanted a GoPro but couldn’t really justify spending £300. After loads of research and reading countless reviews I plumped for the Akaso V50X. I’ve spent a weekend checking it out and my view is that the video output especially in 4K is pretty good, the time lapse feature was great in our recent trip from Bala to Dolgellau, the 1080p was a little clunky in my opinion but I’m no expert and intend spending the remainder of the Summer playing around with it. It comes with 2 batteries and a charger, a waterproof case (which worked in the sea), loads of mounting brackets for helmets and handlebars. As others have said, the internal microphone is pretty poor and, with the waterproof case on, practically non-existent. Didn’t bother me too much and I’ll order an external mic off Amazon which is under a tenner. I am guessing that a GoPro would have better picture, more settings and definitely better audio but hey, you’re paying three times as much for the privilege. Forgot to mention the electronic image stabilisation- really, really good. If it came with an Idiots Guide to Akaso V50X, I’d be even happier.

Way out of focus
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This may be going back. I've contacted Akaso for their opinion because in my opinion the focus is way out, and as it's fixed-focus there seems to be nothing you can do about it. If you look at my screenshots taken off video clips, you can see that the plant in the foreground is spot on, but the trees at infinity are really blurry and out of focus. An action cam is rarely used at 15cm - infinity is most likely. I'm not going to bother testing it out on my electric scooter - that would seem to be a waste of time. Youtube reviews show very much better focus than this - impressively so.So, Akaso, unless you can suitably advise me, a returns number please Amazon, because this is no use. Then I'll do what I should have done in the first place, get the DJI cam.

Great camera and great customer service when contacted
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Camera is excellent and great value compared to the well known brand. Includes two batteries and multiple starting attachments. I have ordered two extra batteries and an attachment set to use with this camera.Importantly, their customer service has been excellent!!I had an issue with the first camera and after contacting their customer service, they immediately responded and resolved the issue without quibble. Always a good indication for a company in how its customer service responds to a query.

Excellent stabilisation, but hopeless sound.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Couldn't justify the price of a 4k GoPro for my limited use, occasional motorsport (in car footage), and skiing. But this got good reviews, and was an attractive price. The good: Easy to set up, intuitive menu. Plenty of attachments + 2 batteries and separate charger, remote control (not used yet). Image stabilisation is outstanding. Resolution excellent in 4k, still good in HD.Not so good: The sound! Even out of its case, the volume it records at is far too low. It really needs an external microphone. In its case, it won't record any sound at all. The other problem is the dynamic range of the video. In sunshine, the contrast is too high, so no shadow detail, and blue skies are washed out. Some strange moire effects, e.g. on trees, that comes and goes. It can't cope with vehicles moving across the field of vision at high speed, which appears jerky, even at the maximum frame rate. Possibly some processing bottleneck. But having said all that, it's a 1/4 of the price of an equivalent GoPro, and the image stabilisation is as good, so it represents excellent value for money, especially as a starter action cam for people like me. Hence the 4 stars.

Decent, but unreliable
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is a decent-to-good action camera for the price. The lock on the waterproof case broke on the second day of use, rendering it functionally useless. The overall image quality is decent and I have obtained some nice close-up shots of birds in my garden. The time-lapse feature is a particular highlight.Video stabilisation is good when walking at a steady pace but it falls apart when trying anything more exuberant (like a bike ride). The photo picture quality is poor considering it is supposed to be 20MP, with better results on my phone. The remote control is incredibly unreliable, to the extent that I just don’t bother with it.Overall, this is decent for the price-range but I do wish I had gone for a higher quality brand. More focus on core features like image quality would be better than including useless bits of plastic like the remote control or the waterproof case.

Battery life way too short for my and many other purposes.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

As camera it's OK, but not very good underwater. My overwhelming problem is that I bought it to take underwater photos at long intervals, but the longest interval possible is 1 minute and the battery runs out after approximately 150 minutes. I wanted a much longer interval and when.i bought it I didn't realise I would not be able to set it to long intervals. I've largely wasted my money. I'm surprised people who use it on their bikes don't have a problem with the short battery life.

Reasonable Product
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I had originally written this review to complain. However, I am happy to say the issue was at my end. A warning to others to ensure you use the correct micro SD card for the unit. Using a faulty SD card will result in the unit simply not recording without any indication as to why. Anyway, apart from the really rubbish built in microphone, this unit works adequately. Definitely better than paying hundreds of pounds for a GoPro.

Great value with good features
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I like this camera as it has a number of good features, 4K and a waterproof housing, 2 batteries making it great value assuming it works as described. I also own well known class leading brand of action camera which are considerably more expensive and because of that it is reasonable to assume that with the higher price the quality is higher. That said, this v50x looks to be well made and be a good package for the money. So far I have set the camera up and ran a test recording c/w playback. All good. It is now mounted on my mountain bike and I’ll provide an update in a few months.

Good quality for low budget
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

First of all the price for the quality is more than great.I was hesitating to purchase this product at first but it turn out that the quality both of the camera and the video recording are far better than my expectations. Is easy to use and understand how it works. It can be use with the buttons or the touch screen, which is in a decent condition for such cheap camera. The charger cable is alright but not really long and the extra accessories in the box are good so far.The waterproof camera case is actually waterproof and quite easy to use.The microphone is not that great but I can't really have high expectations for that.*My only comment is that the remote control is not very reliable. It is working but when I am using the recording mode, I can't always take pictures at the same time when I press the camera button.Overall, I totally recommend this camera for low budget amateurs.

Very good quality video that is well stabilised. Easy to use. Great value.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I bought this to replace a non-stabilised and cheaper action cam, with a failing battery, mainly to sling under a drone. I did some research before hand of the DJI and GoPro offerings but all the reviews suggested that this was almost as good as some very expensive alternatives. I have not been disappointed. I have not provided photos nor videos as there are so many Youtube reviews for you to check out including some good comparison reviews.Good Points.Good 4K video/photo quality. Play back quality, direct to a quality monitor, is excellent, through micro HDMI cable (not included)Long battery lifeExcellent stabilisation, EIS and gyroWorks well with Android AppComprehensive extras packComes with two batteries and a neat twin battery chargerSimple but very comprehensive controls through touch screen at rear. I have not played with the ISO, colour averaging and many other controls as yet as the auto settings work well for me.Minor pointsNo attachment to allow for underslinging. All attachments assume that this will be top mounted. I had a suitable attachment from another action cam so was able to overcome this problem. This will probably trouble very few people. No SD card included, but this is made clear in the advert

Value and Quality way above the price tag.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I bought this as a second camera to the Akaso EK7000 HD I already had as I needed two cameras to record a cross Atlantic row I'm taking part in in December.
The touch screen is a nice addition if only outside of the waterproof case, but as it's nice and compact it's easy to carry and I find it better to fill up the memory card on this rather than the memory on my phone!
The control buttons are the same but the interface on the screen is a lot more user friendly and easy to use. There are so many different settings I know I won't get to use them all but what I will do, and report back, is play around with the various quality settings and field of view settings. The latter going up to a whopping 170 degrees.
It comes with loads of mounting brackets and straps which should just about cover all eventualities.
The quality of photos and video are really very good and comparable to that of other more expensive cameras that my team mates have purchased.
We have not tested the waterproof cases properly at sea yet but once we start the race I'll update the review.
Definitely recommend this camera, value and quality way above its price tag.

Really happy about customer service
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

As I have been contacted by the customer service regarding my bad reviews and they were really helpful about my problem I am modifying my previous review. The old comment about the camera could be summarised with "poor quality of pictures" but as they supported me right afte and they are providing me with a new camera I have to say that I am really happy about akaso's customer service and I am confident that the problem of the first camera I bought was just a isolate situation.I will follow with another review as soon I will test properly the new camera.OLD REVIEW WAS:"I bought the akaso v50x because I thought it was better than a mobile phone and handier than a normal camera. I went on holiday in Greece and on my way back I was pretty disappointed.I have to say that videos are amazing ; underwater ones a well. The Problem is the camera for taking pictures.-Using "AUTOMATIC" settings, no matter if I set up the better quality option or wich angle I set up, the majority of pictures end up with pretty visible pixels all over it; you can easily notice that even without zooming it, but if you do that you'll relise immediately that pictures are really bad.-Even if I set up the better quality option for pictures (20MB) the pictures end up an average 10 MB and maximum of 13 MB but I had minimums of 6 MB as well even if the set up was for 20 MB.-at sunset and sunrise the pictures are poor. If it is not sunny day the pictures are average to poor. in the evening the pictures aren't worth trying taking them. This is definetely a product I am not satisfied with; All my complains are done taking in consideration the comparison between this akaso model and pictures taken by a normal mobile phone with "default/automatic" setting that are a lot better."

So easy to use
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have used this for a few weeks now. It is very user friendly and the touch screen is great. The picture quality is superb. The controls are simple. There are loads of attachments which I will probably never use and I certainly will not be going underwater with it (a least voluntarily!) . The watch bracelet remote on/off is a terrifically useful gadget. All in all you simply will not go wrong with this little gem.

Great value for money AKASO V50 X action camera
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I bought this AKASO V50 X Action Camera because I'd already bought two lower-spec cameras from AKASO that I was very happy with so I trust the brand. I like the fact that AKASO cameras include a twin battery charger in the accessories, some manufacturers don't and you have to charge the battery whilst it's in the camera. The other two cameras I bought were for me and my young son to fool around with taking videos on holiday and when we're out and about trekking or doing sports. I wasn't sure if either of us would be that interested in videoing so that's why we tried out the cheaper lower-spec models first.Since we've been using them we've had great fun and I've really gotten into it so I've bought this better model as a treat for myself and to get better results. I'm also hoping to use it as a dashcam and this model has a driving mode which will be very useful. The battery compartment is a lot easier to open on these models and the overall finish of the camera is more professional as it has a soft silicone finish as opposed to the hard plastic finish of the cheaper models. They are never going to be as good as the high priced models such as the Go Pros but for the money that these AKASO cameras cost I am really very happy with it and would buy again for sure.
