I didn't give this 5 stars because I find the keyboard difficult to use. I have had to attach an external keyboard., The keys are quite a way back from the front of the board and As I type I seem to brush the return key and so half of a word ends up being on another line. I am sure this is probably only a problem for someone like me who is a touch typist so find it very frustrating that the laptop keyboard is hard to use. There is only one usb port so you will need a hub to enable a mouse and a keyboard (or other accessory to be attached at the same time. On the plus side the laptop is fast and lightweight - attributes I wanted and I have not been disappointed with that.
KhannaIt does what I wanted it for, private correspondence, internet and off-line games
P. A. Jaminok for the price
R. M.Fantastic machine for the price, boots in 12 seconds - not touchscreens and a bit Matt so maybe not for you if you want to watch a lot of movies
Steve PrattBrilliant laptop
Amazon CustomerThis is great Laptop. It is fast, very quite. I can hardly know it is working. It is fast. The time you start laptop it is a matter of seconds that open windows. The face recognition is amazing in quite a distance can recognise the face. The brightness of a keyboard it is a great feature and the mouse area can be used as numeric. It is light looks great. The sound is also pretty good for a tiny laptop. I did get a laptop on a deal £499 which I think it was a great value considering that with the same price I did get poor laptops and had to return them
BobEverything apart from the screen quality is fine with this laptop. It's reasonably fast and responsive but the colours on the screen are dull and washed out. Adjusting the brightness makes no difference. Disappointing really considering the price.
EADMany ppl complaints about the screen. They said it's not of a good quality because when they saw the laptop from an angle, the brightness will get dimmer. Personally i love that kind of screen. My eyes get easily tired with bright screen so it's perfect! And the dim might be a result of the matte finish of the screen. I see no problem at all as i love matte look and not-too-bright screen. Also, some says that the keyboard light doesn't work. Idk why but mine is working perfectly. There are three light options that you can choose and all works well.
The downside:
The two tiny laptop holders in the back are easily removed. I lost mine and now wherever i need to put my laptop i need to put a soft pad underneath my laptop so it doesn't scratch the bottom.
Also, sometimes the trackpad isn't working properly, but it works very well most of the time so it's not a deal-breaker. I still love the laptop!

peter Black62Great laptop for the price. Screen is very washed out at all angles but straight on
ConorVery pleased with the purchase

EdisEasy to set up and Use
WallyI paid £399 for this laptop in the Black Friday week sales. For the price I this represents excellent value for laptop in this price range. I’d say the target market would be students looking for a coursework computer or the casual user who might also want to do a bit more work on the go. I’ll go over each part of the Vivobook and share my thoughts on how it performs.
Build quality
The body is all plastic and feels as such when you pick it up. It is well made though and never feels cheap like some of the lower-end laptops. It is very light for the size at 1.6kg and easily fits into most 13-15” bags or slip covers. The silver model looks really smart and from a distance could almost be mistaken for an aluminium device.
Screen
This seems to be quite divisive amongst people who have purchased this laptop. Yes, the screen is not top quality. If this was on a £600+ laptop you would rightly be very annoyed. However, for a sub-£500 computer this is suitable for the job. It has good viewing angles from the sides, although from the top and bottom the sweet spot is narrower. It is Full HD (1080p), bright and sharp. Blacks are not very deep, but they never will be on TN panels. I think the reason people complain about the screen looking washed out is because the colour reproduction is limited. It falls some way short of being able to reproduce the entire sRGB colour gamut (less than 70% of the spectrum). This is not the laptop for a Photoshop power user but for everyone else, it is more than acceptable.
Keyboard & Touchpad
Another feature that causes confusion and this one is completely on ASUS. Their website proudly proclaims the keyboard is backlit, but this model that Amazon sells does not have a backlit keyboard (and don’t worry, it’s not that I couldn’t find the feature. The F7 key on backlit models turns it on and off but the F7 key is blank on this model). There is no excuse for removing the backlight for certain variations of this device. A clear example of cost-cutting in the wrong

Chris M.I think the Vivoboook is great for what I want - which is a reliable, good looking basic machine. My requirements are fairly minimal and this fits the bill - and is also value for money.
Laura MarchantWell worth every penny. the screen is big and has a matte kind of finish to it very good quality picture! Its quite thin and lightweight cant rate it enough. its very quick takes less then 10 seconds to turn on from fully being turned off and runs any program with ease, installed 10 pro when i got it which costs only 4 quid if you buy a key on amazon!
MilesASUS VivoBook S14 is an unconventional take on daily computing, with an unique color-blocking design that tells the world that you go against the grain. Its narrow bezel design not only gives you an immersive viewing experience, but makes VivoBook S14 more compact and portable so you can take it wherever you go.
