Good camera but doesn't hold battery charge long enough. I suggest having two batteries with one on charge and ready to switch

I am a camera buff. This blows my Canon EOS 450 out of the water.

It is very sharp and great at taking photos and the 1080p HD is really superb.

Buy one - and be amazed.

Sony tx7 review
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I've had the camera for about three weeks now and have to say that I agree with every word that Brian at redban.com says; I just cannot find anything wrong with this camera. The videos are 95% as good as those I take with a £500 camcorder bought two years ago and the stills are the equal of any of the SLRS I have owned. The camera is also brilliantly intuitive to operate; I have only had to refer to the Instruction book a couple of times (for very minor info about a tripod and the supplied dock). I particularly like, for stills, the facility to tap the screen to identify where you want the focus to be. The touch screen works well in all lights, even with my stubby fingers and I love the facility that allows you to adjust exposure settings. On top of all this it looks and feels great and genuinely does slip into your shirt pocket.Thrilled and delighted - best camera I have ever owned.

Simply Brilliant
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have never felt compelled to write a review before but the Sony TX7 has changed that.I originally ordered the Sony Tx1 based on seeing lots of good reviews, but I have to say it was a massive disappointment; it struggled on even basic tasks, like focussing! I sent it back and bought the Tx7, which put simply, is brilliant!I was worried initially as the Tx1 and Tx7 share the same sensor, buts that's where the similarity ends. Everything does what its supposed to on the Tx7, every picture taken so far, in different light levels, indoors and outdoors, have been perfect, video is surprisingly good too, plus you can fit an SD card in this one, so your not stuck with the Sony pro duo sticks.Just pay the extra for the Tx7, you wont be disappointed, as for the battery levels, they seem ok, you can take around 200 pictures before the battery runs out. If you are taking lots and lots of pics then the simple solution is buy a spare battery, but for me 200 pics is plenty for a day out!

Outstanding camera - with some minor flaws
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I bought this camera on the strength of these reviews and previous good experience of Sony Cybershot series products.Overall, I have to say I'm very happy with my purchase. I bought the camera specifically for a trip to Rome where I knew I was going to be sightseeing in crowds and didn't want the hassle and bulk of my larger SLR camera. Having seen the image results, I'm not sure I'll be using the SLR much more...The images are truly excellent - and I was astonished with the quality of the low light-level shooting. You can take really outstanding pictures with no flash required. And in situations where flash is not allowed (e.g. museums, churches, galleries) or where it's antisocial this camera really is amazing.I thought the sweep panorama mode would be a gimmick but was really surprised and impressed with the results and with a little experimentation you will get the right speed of the sweep so that you maximise the image quality and size. It generates startling results in wide strips at 4k x 1k resolution, so they'll print very well.Video movie mode is something I didn't think I'd value until I tried it - I agree with other reviews here that say it rivals many camcorders for quality (if not as flexible). For shorter movies, and in situations where you only want to carry one device, this is perfect. The camera is small, light and easy to put in a jeans pocket comfortably and the camera is strong and sturdy. The downsides are relatively small but worth thinking about: the touch screen is fiddly - you end up pressing parts of it by mistake. After 2 day's use (about 300 shots) it was becoming a little annoying to keep having to check you've not put it into a different mode by mistake. The reason for this is that the screen takes up the entire back of the camera (and is very high quality) so there are not many ways to hold the camera without touching the back panel. If you have larger hands, this may be an issue. As noted elsewhere, the camera cannot be charged with battery inserted - nor on the included dock stand (e

Very clever little cam, lots of bang for your bucks
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Have had the camera now for many months now and its proved its weight in gold. Before I had the Sony DCS T1 which did me for many years, I chose this T7 for its pocket size, the 4 times zoom is better than the 3 times I'm use to and also the wide angle is better than the T1Its very fast but then so are many cameras now, but its the quality of the pics that impress me the most, and the skill the camera has even in the most tricky shots to be able to produce really great pictures even doing nasty things like taking shots directly into the sun it adjusts everything just right and the output is great. Low light shots are very good, and the fact it can take a pic WITHOUT the flash by stitching together 10 or so fast taken pics is very clever, thus no flash needed, theres other trick stuff like the panoramic thingy but to be honest I havent found that very useful and a bit of a gimicThe HD movie mode is awsome, pretty much boardcast quality from this tiny little thing, almost makes me want to junk my regular camcorder and its only the lack of zoom that stops me doing that, it quite happly takes hours of footage in a single take, but DO buy a FAST 6x card thats massive if you want to do that. The only reason I didnt give it 5* is due to the fact you have to take the battery out to charge it !!! really dont like having to do that, and the fact its not got a remaining time indicator in mins for battery life, the old T1 did have these and it meant a) you knew how much time you had left, rather than a ghey bar graph thingy, b) you have to remember to take a silly plastic charger thingy and a lead for charging it !!Otherwise I've been highly impressed, do look at some of the reviews on you-tube for this camera, its what made me go for it in the end.

An excellent camera
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is an excellent camera: small, extremely portable, powerful (pics are good, videos excellent), intuitive... Only downside is the easily smudged and the not so responsive screen. If you have an IPhone as your point of comparison, this camera will not compare but, overall, the touch capability is not bad at all. Along with the Panasonic Lumix TZ5, this is my favourite camera over the last few years! Excellent!!!

Excellent camera. Top marks Sony.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

We opened this camera and started using both video and photo mode immediately. The picture quality is stunning. The zoom is only 4X but that seems fine for most of the shots that we have taken. In fact, compared to my camcorder (alsoa Sony), the wide angle is actually useful because the camcorder needs you to be further away to take a group photo. The quality of the pictures from this camera are superb. Colour saturation is excellent. Yesterday my family were walkingin the woods in quite a dark area. We took some photos and were surprised the the flash did not trigger. When we lookedat the photos, we saw why. The pictures were perfect, and quite bright enough, even without the flash. My old Lumix camerawould definitely have needed a flash in this situation. When I bought the camera I was concerned that the lens was too small and may not capture enough light. Don't worry aboutthis for either video or photo mode. It works fine. When you buy an SD card for the camera, make sure it is class 4 or better. I tried an unclassed (old) 2GB SD card and it musthave been too slow, because the video was jerky, but with a modern card, it works perfectly.A pricy pocket camera, but worth every penny.MC

Too good to use in water!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Well, I got this camera for my birthday - I chose it because I have two young boys who like to go the beach so I needed something which was able to withstand dust, water and boys who like electronic toys! Alas, I have not had the opportunity to take it to the beach yet, but because it is so small (jeans pocket small), I have taken it everywhere else. It took me no time at all to learn how to use it (I might even look at the manual someday!!:0) Panoramic mode is a joy, movie mode is great and a quick couple of touches to the screen to change to another suitable mode for whatever I need it for means I hardly ever miss what I am wanting to capture. My family (including my dad and brother who are keen photographers) are more than impressed with it and are coveting one for themselves, and I (who am beginning to look like some photographer pro thanks to my Sony) am laughing. The only two things that let it down a little is the LCD screen gets dirty easily, and the zoom isn't as great as I would have liked it to be - BUT, I am more than happy to promote this camera in spite of these things because I like it so much that I don't really want to try it in water just in case...

This is about the cheapest price I could find for this camera. It's a brilliant camera for the money and has a wonderful big screen for those of us whose eyesight is not so good anymore. The shutter speed is really quick especially when you are taking pictures of moving objects like animals. The quality for this price range is great and for the money this is a really good buy.

Truly Great Camera
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I've had this camera for three months now and am astounded by it's capabilities. I am not long back from holiday and the camera has exceeded my expectaions in all area's.

I'm not a great photographer so wanted something that I could point and shoot with the minimum of fuss and this camera has delivered. I love the touchscreen interface. It's simple to use and a couple of touches will normally get you where you need to be.

It feels really well made. My only slight gripe is that the battery cover kept flipping open when I was taking the camera out of my pocket. In itself this isn't a problem but I do worry that it will break at some point in the future. However, this is a very minor flaw in an otherwise brilliant product. Another reviewer mentioned that the cover slid open and wasted the battery. I certainly got a few shots of the inside of my pocket but not enough to waste the battery.

The important thing for any camera is the picture quality and this one has delivered. The HD video is stunning, the panoramic shots are superb and indoor shots are brilliant. The 10 frames per second setting has given me some great pictures of a geyser going off, the anti motion blur pictures of a band on stage that my previous camera just wouldn't have coped with and some panoramic shots of the fjords that are jaw-droppingly good

Displaying the pictures could't be easier through the docking station, either through a HDMI cable on your TV or USB on your computer.

All in all this is a truly great little camera which I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone looking for a compact camera..

SONY DSC TX7 S (Silver)
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I have long been a fan of Sonys slim cameras having owned the original T7. This is now quite old and the picture is only 5mp. I have held off buying a replacement Sony slim camera i.e. T700/T900 until the arrival of this - the new TX7. The camera is a really nice design, very solid all metal construction. The slide down front automatically turns on the camera to the last mode i.e video or picture and closing it turns the camera off again. This means its really easy to use for quick snap shots without needing to use the touch screen. There are only 4 manual buttons on top of the camera that avoid the need to use the touchscreen and allow you to alternate between video and picture, review shots at the touch of another button, press for taking a picture and zoom in and out. Im not a big fan of touch screens but when you do need to use it - it is very easy to use, intuitive and the picture quality is really good. The fact it records in HD with stereo and in 16:9 widescreen is brilliant and the difference in quality compared to 480Mpeg4 when playing back through the Sony 32" Full HDTV is amazing. Battery life is quite short and would recommend purchasing an extra battery. The camera also uses SD cards as well as the memory stick. You will need a class 6 SDHC card in order to take advantage of the HD video. Unusually for sony it comes with a docking station and loads of cables for connection to a PC and a TV. If you want to view in HD on your TV then you will need to purchase an HDMI lead but thats it. The 'silver' option is nearer 'gunmetal grey' but looks really good. The only reason I did not give it the full 5 stars is because it is advertised as ultra slim but the original T7 was only 10mm thick on the main body. You could genuinely carry it in the pocket without noticing - the TX7 is nearly twice the depth and this is noticable and makes a big difference to carrying about. Its a real shame they cant replicate the thinness of the original - still it is a fantastic camera with excellent quality pictures and video a

Brilliant for HD video
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This camera is excellent. It produces outstanding quality full HD video. On a full HD TV the picture quality is outstanding, while the sound recorded through the small stereo mics is high quality. As a point and shoot it is also first class, with clear sharp images. The panoramic sweep mode is pure fun and can create beautiful shots. It's also very portable and looks fantastic! Sure, if you want a super zoom in a compact camera, then get something else, but this camera is worth it just for the HD video alone (a year ago it would have cost atleast double the cost of this camera to get the same quality - and in a more bulkier bit of kit!).
