I recieved this camera as a christmas presant and when i got it i was very pleased. It took amazing pictures and had endless amount of functions!! The canmera was good, too good!! In march it broke. It dented and the lens broke, I had to take it to the repair shop and had to pay £120!!!!! to get it repaired. After that i looked after the camera with care!! Then in June i took the camera out of my bag and noticed that the lens had broken AGAIN!!!! I was very annoyed and took it to the repair shop again where I got a quote of £100 to fix it! I asked the experts why it cost so much and why did it break so easily. They said that the canon camera's are a waste of money! The parts are expensive and the cameras are easily breakable!!! The canon camera's esspecially the digital one's are not worth it. I did not bother repairing it the second time as they recommeneded that i buy a totally new and different camera! I am now looking for a new camera which is not Canon!!! The experts reccomended a Panasonic lumix one.

SO If looking for a new camera which you actually want to use without worring that it is going to break while taking a picture do not get this camera!!!! Take it from me. It is not worth it and if it breaks(which can happen very very easily) it will cost you a fortune!!!!

Taking a picture of the book cover is, of course, far less eye-catching than jotting the name down on the back of a Starbucks receipt....

So I set out on a "digital camera" mission. I know absolutely nothing about digital cameras...or any other camera for that matter. All I knew was that I wanted a camera. So, as you do, I googled "digital camera". Too much info thrown at me. Optical and digital zoom....I didn't know there was more than one type of zoom. How many megapixels...ehm...what exactly IS a megapixel?

Let me just browse through the Amazon website and see. Then, it appeared. A funky tiny UltraViolet camera...cool. I bought it. People thought I was crazy for having chosen a camera solely because I thought it "looked funky". Truth is...I wasn't disappointed at all. Now I know more about photography than I ever thought I would. It is a fantastic camera for newbies and experts alike. Friends of mine who are into photography saw it, tried it, and consequently bought one. Owning this camera has given me an incentive to learn more about what makes good/bad pictures....and to be honest, I now wonder how I managed without one.

It is VERY good value for money, has many cool features, and is very easy to use. Plus we all know that digital cameras make note-taking in bookshops very discreet...especially when the camera is...ahem...Ultraviolet.

I shall therefore be telling them to throw it away and I will have to buy a new one. Thank you Amazon and thank you Cannon. Pity I just bought a £9k copier from Canon. So much for customer loyalty

This is my first digital camera, so i don't have much to compare it to! But I absolutely love it and its good points far outweigh its bad points!

Everyone really admires it when they see it, it fits EASILY into your pocket, has lots of groovy features (such as colour accenting!) and the menu is extremely simple!

The only bad points would be the slightly reduced optical zoom (2.4 instead of the usual 3) and i find that the red-eye function doesn't work very well at all, but that is easily sorted with a simple computer program (although time-consuming!). Wouldn't swap it!!

The canon ixus i zoom violet has an inbuilt excellent 5 megapixal ccd that will alow the user to enlarge their images up to a3 size in crystal clear quality. On the reverse side of the camera their is a crystal clear 1.8 inch lcd display which is ideal for viewing back the photos you have just taken. The unit has a 2.5x zoom and a 4x digital zoom which equates to around a total of a 10x zoom. The camera has 16 scene modes which allow the user to refine the shots they have taken. The scene modes include sports, cusine and underwater. The ixus i zoom violet also has built in editing functions such as red eye reduction. The camera is usb 2.0 compatible and comes with a very small 16mb sd card so i recomend you upgrade the card to at the first available opportunity to at least 256mb to get the most out of your camera. In the box you get, the camera, a strap, a 16mb sd card, rechargable lithium battery, a power adaptor, an av cable, a docking station and a usb cable. The camera is extremely impressive with its light weight (120g) and very stylish design. The camera produces very impressive results both from stll imgages and movie clips with sound it can produce. The downside i can see is that the optical zoom is only 2x instead of the usual 3 which is now standard on most cameras. Ironicly considering the name of the camera. if you can over look this small fault then i reccomend you buy this small but excelent performing. If you buy this camera you will not be dissapointed.
