Converted me to micro 4/3rds. The G7 is all but faultless, the best camera I've used
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I've had my G7 for three years (bought locally – sorry Amazon) and use it to illustrate books, articles and make short, YouTube videos. It is very nearly faultless. The size, or lack of it, felt odd at first, but after a few weeks, DLSRs became too big. No way I’d go back. The only problem I have with it is that I occasionally knock the focusing lever, taking if off whatever I’d set it at. I’ve got big hands and think this is unlikely to be a problem for those without cow’s udders for fingers. The stills, with the standard 14-140 lens, are superb: everything I need and more. I need nothing better. It’s difficult to know what more to say. I bought the 100-300 lens, but don’t use it for much. When I do, it’s performed well. One criticism is the lack of accessories for the Panasonic. I’ve got all I need but you might not.For video, it’s excellent. It changed my YouTube presence. Stability is very good. With a smaller camera and lens I can force my way into spaces that a DSLR might baulk at. I’ve heard others suggest that they are not treated as ‘real’ photographers due to its size. It’s no bigger than a bridge. I’ve not experienced this, but I can see the logic.I’m getting on in years and a day’s shoot, with a heavy camera and lens, lighter monopod, gimbal and such would knock me out for a day. Even flashguns can weigh a bit by around lunch time.

Record at up to four times the resolution of Full HD with the Panasonic Lumix G7 that gives you incredibly detailed and realistic video clips, perfect for documenting memories.

Able to capture 30 frames of 4K Ultra HD footage per second, the G7 is a fantastic tool to help you create beautiful slow motion sequences with amazing clarity.

An improved imaging processor also means that it's easier than ever to extract 4K images from your footage with a simple three set process that gives you remarkably high quality screen grabs from your favourite recorded clips.

Lumix lens

Featuring a Lumix G VARIO 14-140 mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH POWER OIS Telephoto Zoom Lens, the G7 has everything you'll need to get started straight away.

A well rounded lens, composed of both aspherical and extra low dispersion elements, the H-FS14140E gives you great photographic results and is ideal for a wide range of applications, covering the 35 mm equivalent of 28 – 280 mm.

POWER OIS gives you effective compensation against camera shake and distortion as you shoot, minimising blurring letting you shoot at a slower shutter speed and in darker conditions.

Take control

Use the G7 to get the images and footage you want with an intuitive menu and easy to access controls.

The G7 lets you enjoy full manual control over all of your exposure settings so you can compose the images that you want with ease, adjusting shutter speed, white balance, ISO and aperture to creative effect.

As well as the easy to navigate menus, the G7 gives you the choice to shoot using the 1040k vari-angle touchscreen to position the camera at new and exciting angles that lend a new perspective to your photos, or a high speed OLED electronic viewfinder, making it easier to shoot accurately, even in bright conditions.

Using the EVF gives you greater battery life and also makes it easier to see a true representation of how your images will appear, with a wider field of view and superior colour reproduction with 2,360k dots, which is almost 1 million more than its predecessor, the G6.

Rapid response AF

Shoot reactively with the G7 that benefits from a contrast AF system, meaning all of the light that passes through the lens can be used for autofocus detection. This gives you much better performance even in dimly lit environments whilst still maintaining the ability to autofocus on your subjects.

Another new feature of the G7 is the Starlight AF which takes the same mechanics and applies it to much smaller AF zone which lets you shoot a star in the night sky with autofocus using accurate calculations of its contrast value, resulting in great night-time photographs.

Invest in extra camera memory

It is important to have the right memory card for your camera. The memory card will determine how fast an image is saved and how fast an image is uploaded.

If you're shooting high definition videos along with high resolution images then it's best to invest in a high performance memory card. A high performance memory card will get the best out of your photography, ensuring the best continuous shooting speed and high quality data capture.
