This isn’t the flagship model but it produced really good results - light, easy to use, easy to set up - a generous water capacity too. Very happy with it.

Love this iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I actually hate ironing, I find it the most tedious, boring thing that has to be done, so I thought I would get a steam generator iron to see if it makes it any better for me, and it does! I love how easily jeans that are badly creased iron out. I love how tidy it is, with the steam cable being able to be tucked in behind the tank when its put away. I love how lightweight it is, so that its not a mish every time you need to iron something. I love the colour and the design of it.I wont say I will be ironing everything in sight now because I wont, but this certainly makes ironing a better experience for me!

Seriously good iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Seriously good iron this one it literally just glides over your shirts no more going over them a few times this does the trick in one go. The price is something else but when you actually use the thing you do realise what you are getting for the money. If you have plenty of work shirts you need to get through during the week not to mention kids clothes for school this really is the iron for you the only thing is its not the smallest around and will take up some space for storage and for use.

If you are really into your ironing.....
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

If you have a large family or just really like ironing then this is what you are looking for. Its lightweight, very simplistic in style and functionality but it kicks out steam like there’s no tomorrow. The 1.2 litre tank which is easy to fill, makes light work of our house hold ironing, the time saved by not having to refill between every three shirts all adds up making using this much faster. The steam produced is constant and with 4.5 bar pressure it gets creases out of denim or linen with ease. The downsides for me are:• It’s not convenient to use for a quick ironing job• I don’t trust the weight of it on my ironing board so I have to have it on the kitchen worktop which is a bit awkward.• It might be advertised as compact but you still have to give up a lot of storage space. With a new baby on the way taking us to a household of five I’m going to hang onto this iron ready for the dark times ahead, giving up most of Sunday to get ready for the week ahead, crease free!

Recommended: An efficient and effective iron, but not for those short on storage space
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

It took me a little time to get used to the 'Philips Speedcare Steam Generator Iron', but even from the first use my ironing was done much quicker than with my old iron. It is not only fast to heat up, but also light and easy to handle, especially compared with my old iron, which had an integral water reservoir. The shape of the iron is good for all sizes of clothes, from babies to adults, and it works well on all weights and types of fabric. Generally, creases lift easily on the first pass, including things which have sat in my ironing pile for days and are very creased. However, it does struggle with heavy weight polo shirts which need a couple of good irons to make them look smart.A drawback with this iron, is that it takes up quite a bit of storage space - owing to the external water reservoir - compared with a traditional steam iron. But the trade-off is that there is far less need to fill up the water because of the bigger reservoir, it is lighter than a traditional iron and there is no leaking at all onto the clothes, as it is just steam that comes through to the iron. I also liked the lock on the base unit, which is a good safety feature and reflects the overall design, which is well thought through.

Great steam generator iron the unit is light and simple ...
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Great steam generator iron the unit is light and simple to use. Could have been improved if you got a warning when th iron needs de-calcifying, as having white bits spewed all over your clean clothes is a little annoying, but the steam pressure is good and it makes fast work of all ironing jobs.

Philips GC6612/30 Steam Generator Iron Good Start and Price Too
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This seems to heat up quickly and the best thing I am finding is that it takes up less space than some other steam generator irons I’ve had in the past. A safety lock which I think is a must when carrying item from cupboard or another room. I tend to store ours in washroom so carry it through to kitchen. Not too heavy for doing that at all. I do though put a large tray underneath the iron itself the base of it as did have an iron that seemed to leak slightly and it wrecked my kitchen worktop tiles. The amount of steam it gives off is quite a bit (I think of it at times more like a mini facial). Main thing though it makes ironing easier and not as time consuming as non steam generated irons. The tank holds a bit of water not as much as some but then again it is a smaller base even so more than enough for a washing basket load. This item seems to me more like a first entry level steam generated iron not just because it is not a super duper all light flashing model but also the price too. Is it worth it? If it makes ironing easier and quicker for sure.

A good starter iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This is one of the Philips range of generator irons. It is a good size and looks great! I have tested a few of these and this one falls at the lower end of the price range. Most of the features are similar although I would say that the handling of the soleplate isn't quite as good almost everything else is the same. I like the idea of pure steam ironing, with less work involved. Good tank capacity.

This is an excellent steam generator, smaller than others I’ve had, which is a very good thing as they can be enormous. It’s smaller size however is not indicative of its performance which is just as good as it’s bigger brothers.Dont be fooled though, if you are used to an ordinary iron ths will still seem big so make sure you’ve a big enough storage space for it. You may also need to buy a new ironing board as it is big and heavy.I love ironing now. Well, that’s an exaggeration but I certainly don’t mind it, whereas it used to be my most hated housework chore.

Full Steam Ahead
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Duncurin has been reviewing this wonderful SpeedCare iron from Philips. It looks fabulous with the nice white, purple livery shared across the modern Philips range. The other point is that it’s a perfect size. It sits quite happily on the worktop next to the ironing table as one irons but is also quite happy on the heat resistant bit of our ironing table. It even has a little slot behind the tank so that the steam feed pipe can be tucked away. The reservoir has a capacity of 1.2litres and I think this is the perfect balance of size versus steam endurance. It’s also a lot easier to tuck away in the cupboard and to handle generally. Please remember, too, that the reservoir is very easy to top up and if you are engaged in a marathon ironing session, the iron barely misses a beat as it takes on more water a bit like the Flying Scotsman heading north on a speed trial! The other iron I was very fortunate to review recently, the Perfect Care Aqua Pro (GC9324/20) has a reservoir of double this (2.4l) and it provides for a 4 hour ironing session. Even when I have been especially naughty or have become entangled with the mega duvet, I rarely iron for this length of time and the reservoir, weight of the iron, footprint and space taken in the cupboard is much higher as a consequence. So, fill it up until the minimum fill line has been exceeded, plug it in and switch it on with the nice little switch at the rear. It is ready for action in no time at all and the blue light glows with its reassuring presence. Steam flow is steady, unfaltering and quiet. In fact one only hears the steam when one lifts it off the clothing. The flow of steam occasionally falters as denoted by the blue light blinking a little but it’s ready for action again in less than a second let alone the time one needs to readjust the item of clothing. There is no squirty water jet upon which my old ironing skills were dependent but there is a temperature gauge which is easy to follow, select and is unambiguous. One’s ironing is in no way dependent, even my meagre

Anything that makes ironing easier is a hit with me. I am so pleased there is so much choice nowadays towards ironing systems and prices to fit all pockets. As time goes by these systems might come down in price.I love the large capacity 1.2 litre tank, which saves constantly refilling smaller capacity tanks.I also really appreciate that tap water is actively encouraged to be used in this iron.It positively zips along, producing such great quality ironed clothing.A really good investment.
