I don't normally leave it this long to write reviews but this has just expired after less than 3 years. It was used for a few hours a week, not moved around much (I'm lucky to have room to leave it in position all the time rather than having to put it away), and treated well. I originally paid £170 in May 2017, so would have expected it to last longer. Bought to replace a Tefal one, which had a similar life span.When I first got it I was not impressed, but I got used to it. My main gripe was the descaling system - although the original blurb said it descaled when needed, I found that it actually descaled every time a set amount of water had passed through it. As I live in a hard water area I generally bring water from parents house many miles away so I can use soft water in the iron. It annoyed me that so much was wasted in the descaling process when it wasn't necessary.I wasn't keen on the sole plate either - didn't glide as smoothly as the more basic Tefal - but I did get used to that over time. The hose between iron and boiler could also have done with being longer.Once you have used a steam generator its difficult to go back to a normal iron, but when they only have short lives its difficult to justify the outlay.Update: I have just contacted Morphy Richards to enquire about a replacement part, as we have taken the iron apart and know which component failed. They told me there are no spares and these products are NON-REPAIRABLE, even by them. When it dies you have no option except send to landfill. Then they offered to sell me another one! Not acceptable in this day and age.

Unfortunately, I bought it mid August 2017 and it failed late August 2018 so was out of warranty. The iron soleplate stopped heating up.
No repairs, no replacement, just a discounted price on a new one.

Mr A CalverThis iron is not fit for purpose. It continually leaks water from the hotplate so that your clothing becomes saturated in water. It is supposed to have a descale function where upon the compartment filling up with water the iron then needs emptying. This light flashes even when the compartment is empty which means that the iron will not heat up at all.
