Not just an iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I thought irons were just irons until I started using this Power Steam Generator - PSG - (I still call it an iron!). As a fifty-something man I have some fairly sturdy clothes and this PSG really gets the creases out of heavy moleskin trousers, jeans etc...

One unexpected bonus is being able to 'steam clean' my favourite old tweed jacket which gets very crumpled and picks-up all kinds of smells (I visit other people's houses in my line of work and I often find myself sitting in a hairy dogs chair whilst the owner of the house puffs away on a cigarette). Anyway, I hang the jacket up on a curtain pole and then run the PSG over it whilst squirting fabreeze at the same time. Bingo, nearly good as new.

Great.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

If you have a lot of ironing to do - especially big stuff like sheets then this monster of an iron will do the business. It is big and heavy but once you've got it plugged in and going it makes light work of much heavy duty ironing. It leaves your clothes and bedlinen crease free. Makes a lot of steam too.

Masses of steam and vertical capability too
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Good build quality and a nice iron to hold. The steam output is amazing, a real help when doing bedlinen! It's a shame that the water reservoir isn't detachable from the main base, as emptying it is a bit of a pain. This is a minor complaint though. The only real problem with these 'professional' steam irons is the size of the base unit because if you just want to iron a pair of jeans it's a fair bit of hassle getting this beast out of the cupboard. I would advise only those who have a lot of ironing get one of these.

Some poor design features and clunky looks mar a capable iron
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This particular AEG is to be frank a mixed bag. The first most irritating aspect is that the water tank is non detachable. This means it has to be filled with a jug (not the end of the world, but most irons at this price you might expect to actually come with the required jug. Just a small niggling point..) Aside from having to fill the tank with a jug, the main downside to the non detachable tank is the added effort to clean the tank, essentially you have to take the entire iron unit, trailing plug/power lead and iron head on their two separate cables and upend it over a sink. Not ideal, hard to remove scale etc. For my money based purely on that you are better off with an iron with a detachable water tank such as the AEG DBS3350-U which at £139.00 is a more practical iron for more or less the same price.AEG DBS3350-U QuickStream Steam Station, 2350 W, 4.5 Bar, White/GreyHaving said that, this is a really good iron, it is quick to heat and the steam power control on the iron head is a bonus - I much prefer that to the ones situated on the body of the machine. The auto steam mode is OK but I find it preferable to chose my own setting. The buttons are a bit clunky, with quite an aged/retro look considering it's a brand new expensive steam generator iron.In terms of ironing quality however it is good, as stated it heats quickly and there is a plethora of steam without issue, the 1.5l tank allowing plenty of ironing between refills.Overall it is a good iron but I feel there are better on the market for similar prices.

Concord of irons, totally supersonic results.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

This iron is awesome, it flies through the ironing in no time. I found when ironing sleeves I only had to iron one side. It produces steam of industrial quality. Having said that I probably would recommend for someone who's never ironed before as you have to watch your fingers around fiddly bits as this iron takes no prisoners. You need to be an efficient ironer to use it. I love it and I have used steam generator irons before and this one is deluxe. Smart to look at , not great if you have limited storage space. But I certainly am glad I had the chance to try it.

Not so compact.
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

While claimed to be compact it is larger than most other steam generator irons we have had. Previously we have had the type of irons where there was a single automatic setting which have not lasted very long. This one is a much more conventional steam generator iron which irons well with plenty of steam, the sole plate glides nicely without sticking or grabbing. It has the usual dial type temperature control on the iron and a similar adjustment for steam on the generator base. There is a steam, trigger type button on the iron handle and a 3 way slider switch for selecting “auto-manual or steam”. Both mains lead and steam hose are a bit short.Descaling, which I have not had to do yet seems a bit of a performance which involves turning the base upside down removing a cap with the supplied key and filling with rescale, naturally they recommend the AEG one, there is no indication when it needs descaling but recommends every 2 months. It also recommends using their “Aqua Sense” filtered water or distilled water although it goes on to say if the water is particularly hard then use a 50/50 mix of tap and distilled water, all very confusing. We are in hard water area and use distilled water anyway.I have no idea how long this iron will last but will update this review if there are any problems.

Not as easy as the Philips Perfect Care
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I'm getting to be a biot of an expert on these steam generator irons now, this is my 3rd. They dont seem to last as long as I'd hope but I do do a lot of ironing so they get a fair bit of use.
The AEG is a little smaller than the Philips perfect care I've been using to date, and doesnt feel as good qaulity or as well put together. It does however have a useful grooove around the base wher eyou can wrap the cords; easier than the weird sort of "cave" the philips has, which doesnt seem to have enough space.

The water tank is fixed in place so you have to use a jug to fill it (tap or distilled water, I use tap) whichis no problem, but if you want to empty the remaining water out afterwards for storage, it's a right pain upending the machine. I much prefer a removable tank like the Philips.

In use, (and it did take a few minutes to heat up) the iron is easy to manoevre and gives a good smooth result on bedlinen (100% linen) and smaller items. There is an adjustable steam and heat control, I'm honestly not sure I find this useful now I am used to the Philips which has one perfect temp for everything. I think with a lot of machines with options most of us just use one and stick to that.

I used up a whole tank of water on the bedlinen and some household stuff (tea towelsetc) and thenhad to refill, so it's putting out a fair bit of steam on max; I turned the steam down then and the next fill lasted longer. It's trial and error really depending on what sort of irining you do.

For the same price or thereabouts I'd go for the Philips really.

Excellent - if you have room for the unit
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I’ve always wanted to try a steam generator iron as I loathe ironing and anything to make it easier can only be a good thing.

The unit is big, which I imagine is true of all steam generators, not just this make and model. It doesn’t come with any receptacle so I used a measuring jug for the water, which should be distilled. The instructions are easy to follow and the iron itself is light; it is the base which is bulky and adds weight.

Just applying the steam shot easily got rid of hems which had turned up in the tumble dryer. The iron is great, I just wish I had space for it.

Even waiting for the iron to cool down by the sink in order to empty the tank, this unit’s size gets in the way and I simply have nowhere to store it – it is too big to fit on the shelf in the under the stairs cupboard. It would ideally suit someone who has a utility room and who admirably iron EVERYTHING from bed sheets to napkins.

AEG DB7135-U Compact Power Steam Generator
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Now this is the first iron I've ever owned with a steam generator and what surprised me the most on unpacking it is the size of the beast. The steam generator measures 21 x 37 x 27 cm and weighs in at 4.4Kg and that's without the 1.5 litres of water when it's full. The actual iron however, is much lighter than the one I'm currently using and is tethered to the mother ship by a 1.9m long umbilical which gives a reasonable reach across the ironing board. As I iron in the kitchen I chose to place the steam generator on the worktop adjacent to the iron rest on the board.
The generator and iron is rated at 2350 watts and is capable of producing 5 bar of steam within 2 minutes of switching on.
The controls a very simple, dial in the required temperature for the material you are ironing and set the steam level. Guidance to which settings you require are given in the instruction manual.
After following the instructions for first time use I was up and running in no time. And my, steam by the bucketful. Only ever having used a conventional iron I wasn't prepared for the copious amount of steam this appliance can produce. It really came into its own when ironing the bed linen when you can give it all.
It can also be used for vertical steaming and my wife tried it out on some freshly laundered curtains that she'd just rehung. Again the results were impressive.
In summing up I'd say that this is not an iron that I would dig out of the cupboard for pressing the occasional shirt, I would stick to my conventional iron for that, but when it comes to sheets and denims it's the business.

My bedding has never been smoother!
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

Wow! This is one heck of a powerful iron. I polished off 3 weeks' of ironing including bedding (don't judge me - I've been ill) in about 20 minutes. My bedding in particular has never been so crease-free. It heats up very quickly and I really like the fact it has an on/off button which means you can control it more efficiently than by plugging/unplugging it.This isn't as compact as I was hoping and it does take up a lot more space than your conventional iron. However I would recommend it as an investment if you do a lot of ironing, particularly large items like sheets and duvet covers. The speed at which it works, and its efficiency, is incredible.

Absolutely phenomenal
Reviewed on Amazon.co.uk

I've had a steam generator iron before and it was good, but prone to overheating. It also never quite delivered on the promise of effortlessly flat shirts, sometimes needing going over three times or so, which never really impressed me.This beast is hot, heavy and has a bit of a short power cable, but in all other ways blows away the competition.First, the negatives. It's heavy - easy enough to lug around the house, but if (like I did) you got it delivered to the office, it's a pain in the bum to bring home. It's hot; steam is hot, kids. Obviously this goes without saying, but my previous steam generator never really generated enough steam to feel like it might burn you. Third, the power cable is just shy of two metres, which is slightly short for something like this.I was slightly daunted by the controls at first. It'd been a hard day, ok? My previous model didn't have any, but I got to grips with this pretty swiftly. You turn it on, it warms up. You set the temperature on the base unit and the steam quantity on the handset. There's a trigger for sporadic steam and a lock on the handset for continuous steam. My only slight quibble with the usability is that when you're ironing, it's easy to slightly turn the steam gauge on the handset. All that out the way, I can't praise this unit enough. I started it off with a nice, thin, Primark shirt. Within moments, it was flat as a pancake. I moved on to a thicker, slightly more challenging Gap shirt. The same. This felt unreal. My creases were disappearing in a cloud of steam. The shirts looked new, immaculate. I moved onto a chunky Fat Face shirt. The same. Fantastic. Minimal effort, absolutely no creases whatsoever. I'd set out to iron one shirt just to put the unit through its paces, and in amazement, done three in a row in ten minutes.I've yet to challenge it with something really unpleasant, like a TM Lewin shirt, but I'll update when I do. Similarly, I'll update if it experiences any issues - I had to send my old unit back twice, so I'll let you know.Otherwise - if
